Points: Repetitive Activity: Participation & Additional comments: 2pts. 30pts limit
Details: Create a set of profiles for the 12 astrological star signs, sub-divided by Hogwarts house. 2 points per sentence.

Sorry these results are a little late being published- I tallied them up last night, but yeah, was a bit on the drunk tired side, and was a bit hungover preoccupied to post em here earlier today. But shall we see how everyone got on?

The stars are coming out tonight, they're lighting up the sky tonight... )

Which leads to the following result:

GRYFFINDOR - 98 points
HUFFLEPUFF - 94 points
RAVENCLAW - 346 points
SLYTHERIN - 42 points

Emphatic win to the Vikings! Congratulations, and see y'all soon! ;)

Afternoon, one and all!

A quick reminder that House Horoscopes is still going on at the folllowing link: http://hh-clubs.livejournal.com/1753080.html

Yoou have about a day and a half to get your contributions in- it's quite easy points and I'm happy to see a large turnout from the houses..... though it can certainly be larger! GET YO ARBITRARILY-DESIGNATED SPACE ANIMAL MOJO ON!

And don't forget to sign the roster if you're not on it already (though everyone's been good with this lately)- there isn't a grace period. ;)

During Trelawney's second class on Western Astrology, she lauds up the influence of elemental rule. As she describes the Sun's fire reflecting the attitude of a ram, lion and archer, a girl on the Gryffindor table pipes up that of their year group, only one Gryffindor belongs to any of those signs. This triggers a Hufflepuff to pipe up how four of them share the same star sign. Eventually, someone asks Trelawney to explain why there isn't better alignment, and she rather sulkily instructs the whole class to explore that as extra homework. You all shut up at once while she turns her attention to the Moon.

Activity: House Horoscopes
Points: Repetitive Activity: Participation & Additional comments: 2pts. 30pts limit
Deadline: March 24 @ 11:59PM UTC.
Details: Create a set of profiles for the 12 astrological star signs, sub-divided by Hogwarts house. How might a Ravenclaw Leo differ from a Slytherin one? If Taurus is naturally aligned with earthy Hufflepuff, what might put a Gryffindor Taurean on a par? 2 points per sentence.

OK, so! It's been a little while, but I remember finding this webpage a little while back. I was intrigued by the supposed traits of each of the 12 zodiac signs, and how they mapped on to the four houses.

What I'd like to do is gather a collective view on this. I will prepare 48 headers below; I want you to write up a small vignette about the nature of each of these permutations. For example, you might comment under Gemini-Slytherin about the supposed dual-nature of the zodiac sign being augmented by a serpentine personality.

The Oracle has some good resources about the 12 star signs, in case you're not hot on your astrology. So does Google.

As for the four Hogwarts houses, I trust you don't need any extra pointers on that.

HOUSE RULES )

That's more or less it. I'll let you get right to it.... once I'm done with the whole screening/prep thing. now! ;)

Deadline: February 20 @ 11:59PM UTC.
Details: We're going to indulge in a spot of nostalgia. Create a paper origami fortune teller (instructions provided), and submit a picture of it. Although it won't score extra points, participants are free to try them out on one other!

Apologies this is so late going up- I've been washing my hair toiling at a new job and out of town for various reasons. I'm sure you all missed me. No? Well, then. Shall we skip to the results?

Results hidden for perfunctory suspense )

New activity will be up.... soonish. Hope you all had fun with these!

You're having a walk after lunch, and you spot a couple of your classmates at the foot of the steps. You step near them and hear the two girls chuckling over a folded sheet of parchment. You've seen them sit together before, and you know they're both from Muggle backgrounds. They're probably just indulging in something they used to do when they were younger, or reflecting on an old bit of shared culture. However, it's now that the one spots you and asks you- between giggles, of course- to ask them a question. They want to tell you your fortune.

Guys. Seriously. What is it with you all and making these results ridiculously close? I just had to check and re-check my results, and make sure my google docs roster wasn't playing up, and sure enough, it came right down to the wire.... yet again!

:O )

Let me know if there are any blunders. See you again soon!
[identity profile] anbyrobanby.livejournal.com

Hi all!

Just to let you all know that this teabag activity ends tonight!

http://hh-clubs.livejournal.com/1705700.html

There's been a nice few exotic brews coming in, and according to customer reviews they're of the highest calibre. Why not join in if you haven't done so already?

And for the love of pete don't forget the roster signing, as there's no grace period. I'd link you to it but find it in the above one, I gotta rush as am starting a new job this morning and i've had nooooo sleep at all

Activity: 2012 Predictions
Points: Participation Only - 10pts
Details: The New Year is a time to make new predictions! Tell us what you expect to happen in the forthcoming twelve months. Activity inspired by [livejournal.com profile] xfortytwo, who will win Hufflepuff 5 extra points if she participates.

Goodness, another well-represented task from all houses! And continuing the tradition from last term, it was VERY close between a couple of the houses once more!

Let's cut to the chase, shall we?

Fake suspense here )

Hope you all enjoyed the activity- your suggestions and predictions were fun to read! Here's hoping many of them come true. ♥
[identity profile] anbyrobanby.livejournal.com

You are trying to do an assignment about tea leaf readings, but as everybody has come up with the same idea, you notice the school supplies are running dangerously low. You instead have to settle for nettle tea. A friend, who is busy with Potions homework- asks you what it tastes like, and is curious if any of the nettle properties have made their way into the prediction. Intrigued with this idea, you thumb through an old copy of the Daily Prophet, and find an advertisement for unusual brands of tea. Tempted, you go to the Owlery to order a set to your common room.

Sup It Like It's Hot )

Usual reminder about the Roster: there's no grace periods with this, so make sure you're on it! The roster is below.

Also, I'll be starting up a nice thread that offers resources, should anyone wish to use them. These can be anything you like- bases, inspiration from real packaging, even ingredient combinations, or magical properties thereof. I figured it may be useful, though of course there won't be points from it. :)

That's it! Have fun! The results of the 2012 Predictions will be up later today or tomorrow. :)

The future will look bleak if you forget to sign the ROSTER!
[identity profile] anbyrobanby.livejournal.com
Hi all!

I'll actually ask the question first as it's more of a heads-up to a few people, but may have affected other Club leaders, too.

I updated the roster last night, and on checking for new screened posts (eg new bonus items), LJ seemed to have borked and made the posters disappear upon expanding the post. They reappear on unscreening, but I just wondered in case it had an affect anywhere else; I've never seen it happen before :O

I've updated to the best of my knowledge, but in case anyone else has posted anything to my roster in 2012, PLEASE double-check! If there's an issue, post here.

Has this happened to any other Club Leaders? I don't know if it was just a blip for me or if anyone else has spotted this too. I wasn't going to say anything, but just in case, y'know.

ANYWAY! Now that that PSA is out of the way.....

This is a reminder that the 2012 Activity closes in just under 24 hours. Plenty of contributions so far, but it's a nice easy way to grab a few more easy points whilst the Internet is cancelled tomorrow before the deadline passes.

The activity can be found here: http://hh-clubs.livejournal.com/1690527.html?mode=reply#add_comment -and of course, be sure to sign the roster if you haven't done so! It's the same roster as last term as I haven't done a sweep just yet.

Long post over!

As the fireworks ringing in the new year begin to subside, you decide to make a start on your homework. The Divination one catches your eye; a series of predictions to be made, which will be marked in hindsight. Deciding this one will be an easy assignment to get out of the way you choose to make a start.

Activity: 2012 Predictions
Points: Participation Only - 10pts
Deadline: 18th January @ 11:59PM UTC.
Details: The New Year is a time to make new predictions! Tell us what you expect to happen in the forthcoming twelve months. Activity inspired by [livejournal.com profile] xfortytwo, who will win Hufflepuff 5 extra points if she participates.

Here's a nice easy challenge to start the year off! Shamelessly plagiarized Affectionately liberated from Ing of Hufflepuff's similar activity last year, I thought it would be a great time to offer up a variation on it again! :D

Look to the future now; it's only just begu-u-u-u-n~ )

Also! Because this activity was inspired by a brainchild of [livejournal.com profile] xfortytwo's, I'll award 5 bonus points to Hufflepuff if she participates.

Activity: Time Capsule
Points: Participation Only - 10pts
Deadline: 29th December @ 11:59PM UTC.
Details: 2011 is drawing to a close! To look to the future, submit something an object that will commemorate the year gone by.

Again, no preamble because I feel like my body's being held together with bacteria and rigor mortis alone tbqh

Let's bury the past, shall we? )

It's been a fun term and I've been really thrilled by the eagerness of you guys and gals in taking part in these activities. Here's to a good bout in Term XXII!

Activity: Cold Readings vs The Noble Art of Divination
Points: Long debate: Participation 10pts, Additional comment: 2pts.
Deadline: 20th December @ 11:59PM UTC.
Details: Do you believe there is a difference between the Divination presented in the HP series, and those techniques applied by Muggles in the real world? Could you or I walk into a class and be on equal footing with those at Hogwarts? Do Wizarding folk simply have greater sensitivity to the paranormal workings of the universe? Debate and discuss.

Well, there's nothing better than having a cold on New Year's Eve to get the long-overdue results tallied up, right? :D

I'll just cut to the chase and dodge the preamble I usually do:

OBJECTION! )

Yet another close result! And all debatees were on the roster too, so that's awesome! Be sure to double-check for errors. See you in.... a few minutes when I post the other results.
[identity profile] anbyrobanby.livejournal.com

Hi all,

This is a quick reminder that the Time Capsule activity is still going over HERE. We've had just over a dozen items submitted for burial so far, but there's still a LOT more room in the capsule!

How do you want to remember 2011? Something personal? Something topical? Something symbolic? Put it in here.

ALSO!

Because I didn't get this reminder posted earlier (I'd planned to do it yesterday), I'm going to be nice. This activity has a 24 hour extension. It will now close at 11:59pm UTC, Friday December 30th, 2011AD. Use it well, it's a nice easy way to grab 10 more points before the term's done!

Results for the previous debate activity will be going up soon. Hopefully tonight. :)

Shortly after a long, deep session with Firenze, you find yourself considering the depths of time and eternity in an alarming way. Looking around, you see your friends also in a similar mindset, surprised by its gravity compared to the usual shallow experience within Divination. Heading to lunch, you decide to mark this point in time so the unknown future will have some way of knowing what life was truly like back here, this instant.

Hi all!

Remember this activity from last month? I jolly well hope so, seeing how many of you took part. Anyway, there was a vague offering of sigtags coming off the back of this. Well, guess what?

The sigtags have been delivered. >:D

I say they have been delivered; I cannot take ANY credit for these. Why? The glamorous Kat [livejournal.com profile] starianprincess of Gryffindor volunteered to make these out of the goodness of her own heart! So full credit to her, and I hope you'll agree they're lovely (possibly pay a visit to her fledgling Flourish shop, Il Primo Passo?)

So yes, onward we go!

Every year, this squabble seems to happen. Somebody throws a tantrum, fed up of not being able to see anything, or seeing shapes in tea-leaves only to be shot down for saying something. The whole class pipes up about how it's a waste of time, until somebody points out what has correctly been predicted over the course of the year. It seems Trelawney has a special way of dealing with this: she opens a fresh pack of greenish joss sticks and lights them; the thick mossy smoke makes everybody go mellow and thick-headed, and she smiles at the renewed optimism.

Activity Arcana Stamping
Points Repetitive Activity: 2pts per comment, 30 max.
Deadline 27th November @ 11:59PM UTC
Details Fill out the short survey and find out which of the Major Tarot Arcana best represents you! 2pts per comment with a cap at 30pts!

Guys. I am seriously BLOWN AWAY by the amount of participation this activity received! It's so cool to see you all coming out in force to judge one another based upon arbitrary categories I made up on the spot.

There were SIXTY-TWO of you who applied to be stamped, and many more who helped step up to the mark to accommodate that! There was a nice even spread between all the possible stamps; no one stamp turned out to be *hugely* common over any others (though nobody was stamped as either The Tower or The Hanged Man).

Because points have to be on the system by tomorrow afternoon, I'm just going to post up what the results are and we'll worry about any extras later on. Want to see what you got stamped as? Click here! :D

The flip of a card..... )

OK, so we'll move on now to deal with the points. Because it was so busy, with representation from ALL houses high, how did this play out on the leaderboard?

Participation points and breakdown )
Yet again, so very VERY close! Let me know if you spot any errors.... with 800+ comments, it's very probable. :P

Hope you had fun! Thank you again for such a great effort all round!!

Activity: Deathly Hallows Adventure: Crystal Ball Panic!
Points: 1st/2nd/3rd/Participation Only: 50/40/30/10 points.
Deadline: 27th November @ 11:59PM UTC.
Details: Professor Trelawney practices using crystal balls as weapons against Death Eaters, and you're her target! Play a flash game and see how long you can survive against her spherical onslaught! Placement points for top three!

First off, I'm going to start this with an apology: it came to my attention that this Flash game had a glitch in it, making it possible to dodge unlimited tangerines crystal balls. After discussing the potential problem with [livejournal.com profile] hh_clubsmods and Sas, we decided to render this Participation Only. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, but I hope you had fun with the addictive game, irrespective! Regardless, some of you did mind-blowingly well! Your nimble agility will surely help in future where you get attached by flying balls of glass.

So, with that announcement out of the way, the results!

WHERE ARE THEY ALL COMING FROM? )

THIS IS HORRIBLE! )
A new activity will be up very soon. Hope you enjoyed this instalment of the DH Adventure tie-in materials!
[identity profile] anbyrobanby.livejournal.com

Hi all!

Just a reminder that there are two activites coming to a close within the next 24 hours! As my reminder is a little late, I'll likely add another 12 hours to them (so I deal with them when I get up and before my interview). Check them out!

ARCANA STAMPING: There's a few people who only have one or two votes! If you want to max out, go check them out! If you have already maxed out, go check them out anyway!

CRYSTAL BALL PANIC: Part of the Deathly Hallows Adventure tie-ins. One person who has submitted a screencap hasn't hit the required 40 points to get participation points. If it's you, try to resubmit if possible!

As usual, there will be no Roster grace periods, so make sure you're on that, too. The links can be found via the above URLs.

Also, don't worry, the Hogsmeade things will be up soon, too. Possibly tonight. I just gotta go through a few things with the bonus points then they'll be up. =)
