Details: Everyone knows the old adage, 'It's not what you know, but who'. We know some of the wizarding celebrities Slughorn has helped along the way, but now it's your chance to make one up!


Your task is to create a wizarding celebrity using any dollmaker, and write a bit about them - why they are famous, how they know Slughorn, etc. Include as many or as few details as you like!

Name: Doris Fortescue
Bio: Doris, unrelated to the famous Ice Cream maker of Diagon Alley, was a quiet and unusual student in her years at Hogwarts. In her fifth year, she perfected a potion that would change your hair color temporarily which was a huge improvement over the complicated wand-movement spell that girls practiced in their common rooms. Impressed by her ingenuity, he asked her to join the club. She became famous right out of Hogwarts when she sold her pre-bottled hair dye potions, and retired early.

Name: Jacqueline Black
Bio: A very distant member of the House of Black, which caught Slughorn's attention the minute Jacqueline started at Hogwarts. That alone guaranteed her a place at Slug Club, although Jacqueline is also known for developing a more potent version of Star Grass Salve.

Name: Lucía Brighton
Bio: Lucía Brighton was an introvert, curious and a bit abstent-minded student who excelled at Potions, Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. Always fascinated by the magical property of herbs, ingredients and creatures, she caught Slughorn attention with her creativity when mixing different ingredients, which often was a bit of trial-error-trial-error-oops she almost blew the entire castle once (twice). Her observations and analyses on magical objects and creatures helped her change her own magic as well (by studying, for example, the way the wound-cleaning potion worked, her healing spells gained that characteristic purple tone). When she joined the Slughorn Club she started to analyse her fellow members, as well and both learned from them and teach them (to those whose egos allowed them to learn something from her). After finishing school she travelled around the world to see how magic works in other regions. She has been known for her contribution in healing treatments (and according Slughorn himself, no one can cure you from your flu as fast as she can)

Name: Chausiki Attah
Bio: Slughorn took notice of Chausiki for her exceptional arithmancy work and language skills, and allowed her free access to Restricted Section materials to encourage her growth. As her research career progressed, Chausiki returned the favor by connecting Slughorn with key academic connections. Chausiki is world-renowned for her work investigating cultural magic traditions and uncovering linguistic connections between branches of magic previously thought to have developed independently.

Name: Thespia Malfoy (née Selwyn)
Bio: It was not only her year of teaching in Hogwarts that caused Thespia Malfoy to over the course of her short life gain popularity amongst her colleagues (Horace Slughorn being one of them) and students alike, who mourned her loss for many years to follow. She was also an incredibly talented poet, publishing several volumes that are all a firm part of every well-read witch and wizard's library. Her poems count as classics, are regarded as the most beautiful work in Wizarding Literature, and haven't left their spot high up on Flourish & Blotts' Bestseller list for many decades.

Thespia, however, dreaded fame and published her work anonymously. Only those closest to her (with the exception of her much-beloved husband Abraxas who was left to raise their son Lucius by himself as she died in childbed) know the true origin of the poetry they all so admire. Slughorn had and still has his own theories about his dear former student and colleague Thespia's connection to these poems she seemed to be so strangely familiar with, but he hasn't quite unveiled the mystery. Yet.

Name: Grelin Greenvale
Bio: Grelin is famous for his wizarding pet care line. He creates chow, potions and accessories for magical pets. He began working on his pet care line during his Hogwarts years and it was Slughorn who gave him the connections after he finished school to make his products global.

Name: Artemisia Fawley
Bio: A chipper girl from a Pureblood family, Artemisia attracted Slughorn's eye from her first appearance in his Potions class. Although she was not the brightest Potions student he had ever taught, she showed a fondness for the subject that led to her approval for the Slug Club. With a focus in photography, Artemisia grew to become a world-renowned magical photographer, and she developed a new and improved Developing Potion which sped up the process and added a new shine to her photos, filling them with bright, vivacious life. Slughorn always receives the first proofs of all of her favorite snapshots, long before they ever appear in Wizarding magazines or galleries.

Name: Alcyone Barrow
Bio: Alcyone is somewhat like a beauty blogger or lifestyle influencer would be in the Muggle world. Anything she talks about, uses or endorses seems to turn to gold as hordes of witches rush to emulate her cool, effortless style. Her favorite kind of lipstick sold out two days after an article in Witch Weekly came out where she talked about it. Two days! The interesting thing about Alcyone is she came from extremely humble roots. Through hard work and relentless effervescent self-promotion, she climbed her way to the top. Though Slughorn obviously doesn't care too much for recommendations about hair potions or witch empowerment, since it doesn't directly apply to him, he does have respect for someone who's hustled her way to such fame and fortune.

Name: Morgana Gaunt
Bio: Morgana Gaunt, the elder sister to Marvolo, was the last powerful witch in the Gaunt line. She was a Slytherin about 30 years before Horace Slughorn and then went on to become the head of the Auror office. Horace Slughorn didn't know her until near the end of her life; he sent a dispatch out to her when he began teaching as a potential role model for Slytherins (after all, she looked dark but fought for the light!)

Name: Violetta Mosse
Bio: Violetta was born to a Veela mother and wizard father, and attended Beauxbatons long after Slughorn had retired as head of Slytherin. While Slughorn was visiting old acquaintances in France, he was taken to a magical art gallery opening, where he was introduced to Violetta, the niece of an old friend. Violetta explained her passion for designing wizarding wear, and Slughorn was quickly able to put her in touch with the head of one of the largest fashion houses in the wizarding world. Taken aback by Violetta's talent, the fashion house immediately hired her as a designer and model. Later on, when the head of the company retired, she asked Violetta to take over, and Violetta has since been amazing the wizarding world with her completely one-of-a-kind designs.

Name: Elisa Andrews
Bio: Elisa Andrews is famous for being the youngest known witch to have ever perfected the potion for Liquid Misfortune at the age of 11. Elisa, an ambitious and jealous girl, brewed the potion and slipped it into the pumpkin juice of a fellow fifth year student so that bad luck may befall them and Elisa would perhaps have the chance to snatch their boyfriend (quidditch captain Jamal Day). When Slughorn discovered what Elisa had done as her Head of House, far from punishing her, he extended her an invitation to join the Slug Club (best to keep good fortune on one's side...)

Bio: Master warder who developed many of the wards used today, from fire protection meant for the kitchen or rooms with fireplaces, to safety wards for babies cribs.

Name: Irina Nizharadze
Bio: Irina is a celebrated potion maker from Dedoplistsqaro, Georgia. She is one of the most prolific potioneers in the Caucasus region. Dedoplistsqaro translates to "Queen's spring," a spring from which Irina draws a special kind of mineral-infused water that has various magical properties. She met Horace Slughorn at the 1971 European Potions Conference in Dusseldorf, and they became fast friends. They still correspond by mail to this day, sending each other potion recipes, theories and ingredients via owl post.
