Hey! Hello again, dear Transfiguration Club members, it is I, your club leader Gerry, bearing tidings of a new activity for this week! Yay! ^__^ (And did you notice the spankin' new banner? Thanks to darkclockwork!)


Contest Type: We'll be having something uniquely weird this week. It sort of a scavenger hunt, but with poems! Yes, people, out new activity is Untransfiguring the Transfigured Poem!

Mechanics: A cento is a poem which consists of verses taken from different authors - in short, a transfigured poem made up of other poems. I shall post a 12-line cento below, and your task is to untransfigure the poem. How?

Step One:You have to figure out which line is written by which author, and in what poem.

Step Two:Choose any line from the cento and post twelve stanzas of the whole, unaltered, original poem that line was from.

And that's it. ^__^


Points: Since this will be sort of a scavenger hunt, standard placing points will apply... but with a twist! XD

1.) For every line you get correct, you get one point, for a maximum of twelve points.
2.) For posting the twelve-line unaltered poem, you get three points. ^_^
3.) For being the first to answer, you get a bonus 35 points; For second, a bonus of 25 points; And for third, a bonus of 15 points. You have to have at least 8 of the 12 lines correct to be qualified for placing, in addition to the twelve-line unaltered poem.

So... first placers can get a maximum of 50 points, 40 for second, and 30 for third. Maximum non-placing points is 15 points. Fair enough?

Easy enough to understand, right..?

EXTRA POINTS: Also, I will be doling out an extra two points for every Transfiguration book purchased from hh_diagon! ^_^ These include the following: A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration, Intermediate Transfiguration, A Guide to Advanced Transfiguration, The Invisible Book of Invisibility, and Theories of Transsubstantial Transfiguration. Phew! Those titles were damnedly long. XD

Schedule: Lets see... I shall accept entries to this post starting today, December 5, 2007 up to December 12, 2007, at around 4:00pm Philippine Standard Time. Winners shall be posted on the same day. :)

EDIT!!! No wonder there were a lot of blanks in the answers below! Grah. I edited line 8, changing "Snow" to "Sorrow". ^__^ Get editing! If you haven't answered that line yet, then this is your chance to get one more point! ^^

EDIT PART TWO!!! The second part of the challenge means that you just have to pick one line of the cento and post twelve lines from that line's original poem. You don't need to post the whole poem, just a fraction of it, since I know that some of those poems above are really, really long. XD Sorry for the unclarity! XD

Yay for new activity!

Contest Type: This week, I decided for us to have a little scavenger hunt for our first activity! Yay! XD

Points: As usual, points will be awarded as follows: 1st/2nd/3rd/Participation Only -- 50/40/30/10 points. This is a race, people, so, of course, the first three posters will win! XD

Deadline: Submissions shall take place until November the 21st, around 1:00pm Manila Standard Time. ^_^ This should be long enough. XD
