Date: 2013-08-23 04:21 am (UTC)Historical Time Period: Jacobite Uprisings (1688-1746), The entire series goes through the Revolutionary War in the US
Brief summary: Claire is a nurse in the 1940's and she is taken back in time in the middle of the Jacobite uprisings. The story is an adventure, love story, but it is filled will history surrounding the uprising in Scotland and different information on the Highland Lords. It is a very fast read, and I know I couldn't put it down when I read it.

Date: 2013-08-29 10:39 am (UTC)This was the very first time-travel historical fiction book I ever read, and I absolutely adored it! It's really clear Diana did her research, too, which is a real breath of fresh air for fiction writers. Did you read the rest of the series? I got through book four, when I felt the quality started to take a nose dive, though her historical accuracy remained as strong as ever.

Date: 2013-08-29 01:57 pm (UTC)The others I read more than once. What was great, I read Outlander the first time in high school. It was a few more years and I found it again plus that it had a sequel. I got so excited.
That is why I decided this book would be great historically. Diana did so much work into it and each book takes you through different struggles. I know that it was going all the way to the revolutionary war. The only other that I have ever found with that in depth of a background was Clan of the Cave Bear (can't finish for the same reason, took too long for the next books). All I can say is thank goodness JK only kept us waiting a few years and I found the fandom, otherwise I may never have finished HP.
