House: Gryffindor
Image
Explanation: So I've got the picture of the generic family to represent how important family and loved ones are to Gryffindors. I think that what really defines the house for me is how far they would go to protect those they hold dear. I think that's where a lot of the courage comes from, being willing to do what it takes. That's what the knight is for - courage. I know a lot of people associate them with loyalty but some knights weren't actually all that loyal and fought on the side of highest bidder. But they fought hard and relentlessly. That's legit. The trophy is because Gryffindors like winning. Nothing too deep about that. The books are because even though Gryffindors like to have fun and aren't particularly focused, failing out of class would not be winning and as previously mentioned, they like winning. The candy is because it's a mixed bunch of candy and Gryffindors come from all different places.

House: Slytherin
Image
Explanation: This collage has five elements to represent Slytherin in different ways. First, we have a coiled green anaconda: an enormous deadly snake in house colors. Surprisingly, this deadly snake is not poisonous: it fits the Slytherin bill by killing with hugs! I also have a pitcher of green margaritas symbolizing Slytherin luxury and decadance. There's also a sparkling, gleaming silver ring (I know – not a locket) symbolizing our house's other color. Next comes a key to success symbolizing Slytherin ambition realized (after being backed up by determination). My final image is a cute bunny rabbit, which shows that Slytherins can be cute and cuddly (and also represents deals we have made in the past to further our own success).

House: Hufflepuff

Explanation:
For Hufflepuff, I first chose the center image. It represents love, which is an important trait for Hufflepuffs; familial love, relationship love, friend love, all of that. The image in the upper left is of the legend of George Washington and the cherry tree. It represents honesty, with the apocryphal line, “I cannot tell a lie.” In the lower left, I chose Rosie the Riveter. She is representative of hard work and dedication, both of which are strong Hufflepuff traits. When I was looking to represent loyalty, I decided to use a dog. I figured a seeing eye dog also covered patient and dependable. For the final image, I went with the statue of Justice, which covers the obvious trait of fair and just.

House: Hufflepuff
Image
Explanation: The Hard Work Ahead sign represents the hard work that Hufflepuff's are best known for, they are not afraid to do what needs to be done. Next to that you have the 'pay it forward' drawing - this represents the compassion and good heartedness that a Hufflepuff has. Next you have The Little Engine that Could - he represents tenaciousness and dependability. The bottom row shows a group of people of all color which is what Helga Hufflepuff did for her house - she took them all. Lastly to throw in some sass you have the Honey Badger (the most fearless animal in all the kingdom) - because we are bad ass and we don't give a sh*t.

House:Gryffindor
Image
Explanation:The first image is a dog for loyalty. Gryffindor's stay true to the people they care about and ask for the same in others. I stay true to you, you stay true to me. Fair and simple. The second is fire for passion. I think that Gryffindor's can be some of the most passionate people out there when they find something that strikes their interest. It can be a person, a cause, a hobby. I have a picture of Courage the Cowardly Dog for, well, courage! I think Courage is actually a pretty good example for Gryffindor. He can be absolutely terrified of something but he will do everything he can to save that Muriel. Same with Gryffindor's. Except instead of saving Muriel, we're saving our loved ones or facing our fears because it's the right thing to do. The heart is for love. It's a lot like passion, but I think it goes a little bit deeper. When Gryff's love someone, they love someone. And then a mule for stubbornness. I think this one is pretty self-explanatory. Gryffindor's can be very stubborn.

House: Ravenclaw
Image
Explanation: The first image I found - and the one I wanted to be the main piece - was the Book Wyrm image. Claws absolutely adore reading, and they're known for absorbing knowledge like sponges. But I specifically went looking for something like this because a Claw will also appreciate the "wyrm" pun instead of the traditional "worm." Claws never let a word joke pass them by! Below it is an image from a very traditional Claw book, Alice in Wonderland, with the Cheshire Cat reminding us that Claws often see the world differently than others. Like Luna, we see reality in the way we choose, not the way others want us to.This is also why I choose the quote about footprints on the moon. Never try to hold a Claw back, because our desires and dreams aren't confined to this world. We think outside the box, even if that box encompass the whole planet. Below is another play on words, this time combining the famous Pokemone meme in the style of the Bayeux Tapestry, which is a visual history of the Norman conquest of England. In one image, we combine a love of contemporary nerd culture with a history geek's passion for the past. Finally, at the top left, we have a Viking Pusheen avatar - even kitties have to be ready to pillage! - and a nod to two of the biggest Claw shows ever to air on television, Star Trek and the Big Bang Theory. Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock, anyone?

House: Hufflepuff
Image
Explanation: Okay we have:
1. Cedric in the middle because he is the perfect Hufflepuff in my eyes and everyone knows how nice and obsessed I am with him.
2. A cute little badger because I think the badger is a great house mascot.
3. A smiley face because puffs are known to be oh so friendly.
4. The super photogenic runner because runners are known to be dedicated, another sure sign of a Hufflepuff. And just look at that man's face, that's a Hufflepuff face if I've ever seen one.
5. The word loyalty because I couldn't find a photo express just how loyal a Hufflepuff is, it might just be their strongest trait in my opinion.

ravenclaw (http://www.polyvore.com/ravenclaw/set?.embedder=1807001&.svc=copypaste&id=47379734) by rhetoricians (http://rhetoricians.polyvore.com/?.embedder=1807001&.svc=copypaste) featuring a purple t shirt (http://www.polyvore.com/purple_t_shirt/shop?query=purple+t+shirt)

Explanation: I chose, firstly, the tea cups because they are uniquely painted and designed, and Ravenclaw is known for its creativity and exuberance. Secondly, "I cannot live without books" - fairly self-explanatory, but Ravenclaw is known stereotypically as the "bookish" house. A box of nerds for the same reasons. Sarcasm is a huge defense mechanism of Ravenclaws and is often attributed to them. Lastly, I have the "I <3 my vikings" shirt because we're the vikings!

House: Hufflepuff
Image
Explanation:
1) Badger- Because the badger is our mascot, and we're all so adorable like badgers. :D
2) Loyal Dog- Hufflepuffs are very loyal to those that are close to them. Once you have earned the loyalty of a Hufflepuff you have it for life.
3) Peace, Love & Happiness - Hufflepuffs are very good-hearted, loving and friendly. This picture sums up a lot of Hufflepuff traits in one.
4) Hard-working - Hufflepuffs are very hard-working and dedicated to everything the do.
5) Patience - Hufflepuffs are known to be very patient. Hufflepuffs do well in many situations that require a lot of patience.

House:Slytherin
Image
Explanation: First I put a snake for obvious reasons. But this isn't just any snake. Oh, no. He's a very happy snake. Because not all Slytherins are bad guys. Sometimes we just like to smile. Then there is a fancy green wine glass because we do love our fancy things. There is a girl being a perfectionist because Slytherins are known to have a perfectionist streak, even when it comes to simple things like crayon doodles on a wall. There is a to-do list because I think we all like to keep busy and get things accomplished. And last but not least is the first pretty thing that came up when I searched the house colors. Another fancy something that a Slytherin (particularly me) would like to have.

House: Claw
Image
Explanation: The background for this collage is blue and bronze, Ravenclaw colors. More than that, I do think that combination of colors works really well for the house because blue often brings to mind the sky, limitless and open and everything about knowledge that Ravenclaws want to possess. (Related to this, the eagle as the Ravenclaw mascot is an animal that masters the skies, the same way Ravenclaws attempt to master their knowledge.) Bronze is an old, ancient color, something that brings to mind history and the past, which Claws must always remember whenever they examine things for the future. The girl signifies imagination, which is something that Ravenclaws often have. The cat is known for its curiousity, a trait the Ravenclaws have. The lightbulb signifies the birth of ideas, the eureka moment that sends adrenaline through our veins.

House: Puff
Image
Explanation: I think my favorite image in this is the one in the middle. That is such a good Hufflepuff motto: Make cupcakes, not war. Puffs are more interested in making friends and caring about each other than arguing or getting into stupid fights. Or, you know, we’d rather eat cupcakes than pick a fight. As for the other images, the smiley face represents the friendliness of Puffs. The cute little badgers are to show how we embrace and love other people and reflect our caring nature. The wolf illustrates our sense of loyalty, and the gavel illustrates a Puff’s sense of fairness and justice for people. I think these five things — friendliness, acceptance, caring, loyalty and sense of fairness — sum up a Hufflepuff quite well.
