Reasons: Not the first song that comes to mind, I know, but it is all about self-confidence! And I think everyone experiences some times of self-doubt. This is what our dear Slughorn listens to when he needs a quick pick me up. Here, just look at this lyric, "'Cause I know what I want, can't settle for less/ Not tryin' to flaunt it, I just want the best" This is Slughorn in a song! Slughorn just want's the best and there is nothing wrong with that. And the other lyric, "She got lots of style, she got lots of class"? Come on! Who is the most stylish, classiest person walking the corridors? Slughorn, that's who.

Description: The video consists of a black coily snake hanging out in a bathtub.
Reasons: The snake obviously represents our dear Head of Snakes and the Slug Club, Horace Slughorn. He coils around the bath because he is coily and snakes are coily. Also, he hangs out in what is probably a luxurious bathtub, representing the creature comforts that Horace Slughorn deserves. Finally, the snake (named Tonic - sounds like an ingredient in cocktails Slughorn would enjoy) is so awesome, like Horace, that he is described as "awesome" in the video itself!

Reasons: This man is one of the richest of muggle men ever, and although muggle “dollars” seem pretty useless to us, apparently they’re kinda like paper galleons. I know, right, what a ghastly idea! He is always surrounded by other famous, rich muggles too. He also has his very own tower, many ex-lovers, and his own television show (not to mention catch-phrase!) He’s a super suave muggle and for that reason he reminds me of ol’ Sluggy the Great.

Reasons: When I think of who is the most interesting man in the Wizarding World, I always think of Horace Slughorn. He can get into all the best parties and score best seats at the most important quidditch matches. Not only do the most influential folks in wizarding politics always take his owls, they're even known to give dear ol' Sluggy a firecall and ask his opinion. Slughorn is the envy of every wizard and the goal of every witch!

Description: Cobra Starship | The World Has Its Shine (But I Would Drop It On A Dime)
Reasons: The title in of itself is Slughorn incarnate: somebody who values the superficial things in life such as fame and fortune and connections...however, in spite of his vices (and boy does he have them), Slughorn is compassionate, affectionate and prefers what's right and good in this world (despite being too scared to always stand up for it). In particular, this song reminds me of the affection he carried for Lily; in a world where he was terrified of Voldemort's mission and torturous antics, trying desperately to remain neutral and uninvolved in the politics and war of the wizarding world...the one thing that Harry was able to use to manipulate Slughorn into making the right decision was Lily and Slughorn's deep desire to mourn and do right by her.

Reasons: The Queen obviously reminds me of Professor Slughorn. She's popular, approved and loved around the world and most especially in the UK and she's the patron of over 620 charities and organisations, meaning she's a force for good. We all know how popular our brilliant Professor Slughorn is, and just how much of a force for good he is in the world. Yes, whenever I see Queen Elizabeth in photos or on the telly, I can't help but thank of Professor Horace Slughorn.

Reasons: I think the Old Spice man reminds me of our great Professor because he is everything that we want to be. He sees the potential and knows how to use it to its greatest potential. He can see the diamonds underneath and he will be there to polish us until we shine so that with his help, we can be the greatest. We won't forget all the help he gave us, either.

Description: Slughorn likes to throw parties. It's just him trying to keep his youthness. He constantly asks himself "What's my age again!?"
Reasons: Okay I picked this song because like I said Slughorn loves to throw parties. I could see him in his younger days being like the lyrics in the song (minus the Muggle stuff). Slughorn seems to like to associate him with young successful people. Maybe it's to help himself stay young. It seems like old Sluggy may not realize what his age really is. That throwing parties everytime you turn around isn't what most old professors would do.

Reasons: If anyone knows how to party, it's our dearly esteemed Professor Slughorn. His parties are quite memorable and legendary. Everyone knows professor Slughorn has swagger, just like Ke$ha sings. It is a little well known fact that the original lyrics said "Wake up in the morning feeling like Horace," a clear allusion to our dear Professor's ability to empathise with other people. "Now the party don't start till I walk in" - that's true. It isn't a real party unless professor Slughorn is in attendance. As much as we Gryffindors might boast having the best parties in the whole of Hogwarts, we obviously still have a lot to leard from professor Slughorn.

Reasons: William Shatner is a very famous Muggle actor, well known for his charisma and people-pleasing personality. His suave manner and charming smile has won him many a follower and fan. The character he played that made him famous was not only a brave and daring man, but a womanizer of the highest level, a characterization that has crept into his real life. The man himself loves the limelight and his fans, both throwing and attending parties nigh on constantly. For all these reasons, it is impossible not to be reminded of our dear Slughorn when confronted with Mr. Shatner.

Reasons: When I hear "Horace Slughorn", the first other name that comes to mind is "George Clooney". Why is that? Well, apart from the fact that both men, to me, bear a striking resemblance to each other, I do believe that Mr Clooney takes after Professor Slughorn in that he is refined, a gentleman, and like fine wine, gets better with age.

Reasons: This was the first thing that came to mind, and that would be because I used Jim Broadbent as the Wizard in my Wicked movie dream cast challenge (http://ducksaysquack.tumblr.com/post/4656808225/10-day-wicked-challenge-day-3-who-would-be-your) a while ago xD But then, as I listened to the lyrics I realised it actually fits Slughorn's character pretty well. He's singing about being the instrument that encourages the fame and success of his students. And the way Slughorn brags about the photos and such of all his connections is very much like a proud father praising his children.

Reasons: The Slug loves throwing parties so what better way to be reminded of that than by a song all about partying? "Everybody just have a good time" should pretty much be the motto for The Slug Club, because really, who doesn't have fun when they're partying with Sluggy? The song is pretty much about having the best time when you're partying and doing what you want to do there. And I don't know about you, but I know all my best memories are from partying with The Slug Club and shuffling with everyone!

Reasons: From the title, the song invites you try something new. We all know how boring and dull is being average. Ol's Sluggy doesn’t choose average people, he chooses those who will stand out. The song and the video are set in a party and we all know how much Sluggy likes partying. What's more, the party isn't a normal party, famous and arty people are there! Such a wonderful social gathering that allows le crème de la crème to bound and to make new friends. This song, which is success on the muggle world, embodies the kind of party that Sluggy LOVES to throw! And hey, maybe Sluggy will make some very lucky lady love him!

Reasons: I'll be honest, country music wasn't the first thing that popped into my mind
everwhen I thought of our dear professor, but then I realized that this song fits him so well! It's a relaxing song about how it's OK to have a drink even at noon when you're having a hard day because, hey, it's 5 o'clock somewhere (or, you know, approximately that time). We all know how our professor just needs a nice tall drink or a glass of scotch some days. He enjoys his drinks and who can really blame him for wanting one at noon when he has to teach students like us?
