As the fireworks ringing in the new year begin to subside, you decide to make a start on your homework. The Divination one catches your eye; a series of predictions to be made, which will be marked in hindsight. Deciding this one will be an easy assignment to get out of the way you choose to make a start.

Activity: 2012 Predictions
Points: Participation Only - 10pts
Deadline: 18th January @ 11:59PM UTC.
Details: The New Year is a time to make new predictions! Tell us what you expect to happen in the forthcoming twelve months. Activity inspired by [livejournal.com profile] xfortytwo, who will win Hufflepuff 5 extra points if she participates.

Here's a nice easy challenge to start the year off! Shamelessly plagiarized Affectionately liberated from Ing of Hufflepuff's similar activity last year, I thought it would be a great time to offer up a variation on it again! :D

I'm going to ask you to make five unique predictions about the coming year: one for each of five areas:
  • Your real-life experiences (something that will happen to you, doesn't have to be super-personal or anything.)

  • World/Current affairs (something you believe will be in the news a lot, or will affect lots of people).

  • Harry Potter fandom (this can be HP itself, HiH stuff, and so forth. No house bashing, or I bash you D:<)

  • Showbiz gossip (outrageous scandals! Celeb slander! Pre-emptively clutching mah pearls!)

  • Predictions in other entertainment (ie, sports, TV, music, fandom and so on.)

So what's the catch? Well, we could all rattle off some things no probs, so I'm going to latch on a condition: You may NOT make the same prediction as another participant. So for instance, if I said something in #2 (world events) about the Mayan apocalypse coming to fruition at the end of this year, nobody else may use that world ending scenario as their #2 prediction.

There's two reasons for this: first, it gets some variety going, but more importantly, it gets you all reading one another's predictions, too! I encourage you guys to chat and chatter about one another's thoughts on the year to come- however there won't be any extra points for doing so. Just good karma, innit. ;)

Also, because I just used the Mayan prophecy as an example, you can't use it in your answers now, either. It's for the best, tbh: the Mayans couldn't even foresee the Spanish, never mind doomsday. :P

Here, have a textbox-

And yes, it's a nice simple 10 point activity to ease you in to the new term. There will be a roster sweep at some stage to clear away some of the clutter, but I haven't yet decided when that spring cleaning will happen. For what it's worth, if you've done recent activities you won't be cut when that time does come. Hint hint hint.

Also! Because this activity was inspired by a brainchild of [livejournal.com profile] xfortytwo's, I'll award 5 bonus points to Hufflepuff if she participates.

The future will look bleak if you forget to sign the ROSTER!

5) Other entertainment: The Chicago Blackhawks will make it to the Stanley Cup playoffs, choke during the last game, and lose.

GASP. WHY DO YOU HATE US SO.

OOOPS! I DON'T! I ACTUALLY LOVE THE 'HAWKS! (I was thinking of last year, and how they didn't make the playoffs. I don't want a repeat of that. I was depressed.) BLACKHAWKS ARE AWESOME! I LOVE THEM. AND I'D REALLY LIKE TO SEE A LIVE GAME!!:) Nice icon, by the way!:) (Am I forgiven that irony/sarcasm doesn't translate very well over the interwebs? Please?)

They did make the playoffs, though! :P Annnnd, actually, that's kind of what happened, your prediction. They went down 3-0 to the Canucks, somehow won the next three games, and DURING THE SEVENTH GAME they were down by 1 for most of it, then Toews SCORED TO TIE IT IN THE LAST MINUTE, and then Campoli let Burrows beat him for the overtime goal so the Canucks lost. SADFACE. :(

Do you live anywhere near the Chicago area? BECAUSE YOU SHOULD SEE A GAME LIVE HOCKEY GAMES ARE THE BEST! :D ALSO I AM GLAD YOU LIKE THEM THEY'RE AWESOME. :D (Very forgiven, although, technically, hating the Hawks isn't a sin. yet.)

OH, good! That I'm forgiven!:)

I think I tried to erase last year from my mind. It depressed me. I didn't even watch, once the Hawks and Penguins were out. (Pens are my other team.)

And I live about three or four hours away from Chicago. It would be fun to see a game, but I'm not the greatest at big city driving and Chicago traffic terrifies me a little. But, at some time, I WILL see a hockey game!
