What did your family achieve?: We are the Aslanders. The family patriarch, Aslan Aslander, was a quintessential Gryffindor, brave and righteous, protective of those he cared for. He created an entire world and sacrificed himself to save everyone (and then was like JK SNITCHES I'M BACK). His daughter, Ella "Enchanted" Aslander was "gifted" the inability to turn down commands by an evil fairy until true love and self-sacrifice saved her. She married Walt Disney (who decided he wanted to be Walt Aslander, so he changed his last name) who was the fanatic wizard who introduced Muggles to the moving pictures we're all so fond of. Their union produced Sabrina "Spellman" Aslander, who was infamous in her adolescence for being a troublemaker among muggles, while still having wild adventures. Her achievements included being Prom Queen, becoming a world-renowned reporter, and having multiple movies and TV shows inspired by her life (so much for the International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Secrecy, although they managed to skirt it by claiming she was really a fictional character). She married Schmendrick the Magician who wasn't really known for much besides being friends with the Last Unicorn in existence (which wasn't even true, really, because she apparently didn't include any unicorns found beyond her country to be True Unicorns). I'm their daughter. After graduating from Hogwarts with all Es and Os on my N.E.W.T.S, I went on to apprentice with Severus Snape, receiving my Potions Mastery in a record two years. I've since discovered a potion that renders one immune to the Unforgiveables and am currently working with Severus Snape and Hermione Granger to put the final touches on a combination potion/charm that will reveal the compatibility of two subjects. Of course, it's possible that my interest in it is for purely selfish reasons -- with Ron Weasley and Remus Lupin fighting for my attentions, I'd like to find out which (if either of them) are better suited for me. My Great-grandfather Aslan is fully supportive of my efforts, and wishes that he'd had use of our spell before he decided to take up with that Horrible White Witch.

What did your family achieve?: The Keal family, a family that made the first shift from Wizard to Muggle. They became royalty through their first relative Breanna, whom married a muggle king and became the first wizard queen without revealing herself. The family remains in the royal heirarchy with the youngest in line for the thrown. Little is it known that he himself is a wizard, spending his adolescence at Hogwarts under the guise of attending boys school. Soon the wizarding world will have their first King.

What did your family achieve?:
Hesper Starkey nee Potts, inspired by the struggles of her werewolf husband Everard, made ground-breaking discoveries about the use of phases of the moon in potion-making that earned her a spot on a Chocolate Frog card. However, the legacy of the generations of Starkeys that followed Hesper is somewhat murky. Her daughter Lucy was sent to Azkaban three times for experimenting with Dark magic before finally earning a life sentence after it was discovered that she was spying for Grindelwald. Her eldest son Basil is best-known for going mad, murdering half the customers in his Hogsmeade bookstore, transfiguring his wife into a sheep, and stranding his eight-year-old daughter Victoria in the Forbidden Forest where she was attacked by werewolves. He spent the rest of his life in a secure ward of St. Mungo’s.
But, on a more positive note, her youngest son Douglas wrote some critical pieces of educational and law enforcement legislature during his 50 years on the Wizengamot, including the law that strengthened the requirements for entry into the Aurors by instituting a rigorous testing system. His son Alistair attempted to follow in his father’s footsteps by going into Magical Law, but he was far more successful in procreating. He had four children. Douglas Starkey’s son Ferdinand was something of a vagabond, drawing on his father’s ample fortune to wander the world aimlessly. He married a vampire that he met at a masked ball in Romania, and they are a smash hit on the competitive dance circuit in wizarding Europe. Victoria Starkey, who survived her ordeal in the Forbidden Forest, became a fierce activist for reform in the treatment of magical creatures. She adopted a little boy named Mark McGuire who earned the highest score in 30 years on his Ancient Runes NEWT.

What did your family achieve?:
There are many accomplishments in my family. I myself graduated first in my class of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. My Mother was the youngest Registered Healer at St Mungo's and my father was a Potion Master who created the potion that was a cure for those attacked by Fenrir Greyback in the Second Wizard War
My maternal grandparents were also Healers and together they created many of the spells now used to diagnose those cursed by dark magic. My maternal great-grandparents were one of the first healers hired by St Mungos when it was established and my maternal great grandmother was the first female allowed to be trained as a full Registered Healer.
My paternal grandfather was an accomplished Potions Master as well and my paternal grandmother was a master of Herbology. Their combined efforts of growing and brewing are legendary in the potions world and their name graces many of the potions they combined together. My paternal great grandfather was one of the first to be named a Potion Master as he is the person who created the Amortentia potion. My paternal great grandmother was the very first female allowed to study the art of Potions and was instrumental in my paternal great grandfather creating Amortentia.

What did your family achieve?: Achieve may not be the right word. The Bray Family (though its original surname has been lost due to the family's tendency to pass on at an early age, usually before beating children) is probably the unluckiest family in the wizarding world. It could perhaps stem from the fact that descendants of one Hamnet Bray insist on naming their children the most unlucky and unfortunate names. The oldest member of the family lived to the age of 50 though they all swear it was pure will and magic that kept Mara alive so long. The Most Unlucky House of Bray is known for their short live-span but also their tendency to be in the wrong place at the wrong time - often being blamed for crimes they may or may not have committed - as well as losing tons of money quite frequently. No one is quite sure how the Brays have managed to pass along their quite unfortunate genes. It is the only place where luck is on their side.

What did your family achieve?: There are several important wizarding families in my family tree, but I'd like to talk about my dad's family. My paternal grandfather was Oliver Wood, the famous Quidditch player, but a little-known fact was that his parents were both Muggle-born. I haven't found much about my ancestors because Muggles aren't as interested in genealogy and familiar history as we are, which is a pity. I have however discovered that Mary Wood (nee Smith) was the daughter of two photographers. Apparently Muggle photographs stand still all the time, which sounds very boring. Mary followed her parents' footsteps by becoming a photographer for the Daily Prophet, and she met my great-grandfather while doing a reportage on his shop. This is the same apothecary that my dad is running now, so as you see the Woods are a relatively new family but we already have plenty of history.
As for my paternal grandmother, there's been some controversy surrounding her family, which I'd like to clear. My great-great-grandparents are Evandra and Albion Starr, the famous potion makers and researchers of alchemy. I'm told that Grandma Evandra studied with Nicholas Flamel and even tried to recreate the philosopher's stone. Though she never succeeded, she managed to discover a great recipe for pudding, and that same pudding is still served at every family meeting. Their only daughter was Cornelia Starr and she's, sadly, best known for her marriage to a close supporter of You Know Who. She got divorced soon after, gave her daughter Astra her own surname, her husband's name was removed from the family tree and so on. Everyone treats it like a terrible thing and I'm not proud of having a Death Eater as my great-grandfather, but without him I would have never been born so there's that. As for Grandma Astra herself, she fought in the Battle of Hogwarts and then went on to join the Ministry of Magic. She's still head of her department so I think she more than cleared the family name. I'm very proud of my family.

What did your family achieve?: They invented pop music, but through an unfortunate conspiracy, all credit of their invention was taken from them and nobody except the Lovegoods know what really happened. Also due to this sad misfortune, the Lovegoods lost their nobility title and are no longer Lords.

What did your family achieve?: My family was known for inventing a system called "binary" which allows lots of information to be written in a small form; this "binary" was used as a shorthand to simplify wand motions and allow slight alterations of wand motions to create an alphabet of new spells. Also, my dad Pa Stammbaum was infamous for completing his NEWTs at age fourteen and becoming the richest person in the Wizarding World by age sixteen - so his giving birth to me at what would seem like an "Oops!" age was not!

What did your family achieve?:
The Deruyter Family is known for breeding Abraxans and having brought forth several famous herbologists and healers. They have ancient Celtic roots.
Their lineage spans what used to be Gaul (present-day France, Belgium and Netherlands etc.).
Taranis Deruyter VI was a Slytherin Prefect from his fifth year at Hogwarts on, having been in the same year as Percy Weasley and Oliver Wood.
In Celtic myth the name Taranis stands for the god of thunder, but the person Muggles worshipped as a god was actually a very powerful wizard; Taranis I, a ground-breaking herbologist who also invented spells that allowed him to control the weather to some extent. (Remember the spell that was used in Yaxley’s office? That’d be one of the spells Taranis invented, as well as the counter spell.)
He also studied the magical powers of several woods, especially oak.
As such, the family crest incorporates the Wheel of Taranis and oak leafes, as well as the horse head for centuries of studying and breeding of Abraxans.
They once used lightning to burn off family members from the tree who had tainted the family name.
The last to have been burnt off was Gioróid’s wife because they had opposed Grindelwald.
However, L. Gioróid and his son were not burnt off because both had been famous healers. Gioróid senior invented the Blood-Replenishing Potion, his son Miach found a way to speed up its brewing process. All three were killed, the circumstances unknown.
Shocked and outraged by this, following generations have stopped the tradition of burning out family members. Marrying a Muggle is still frowned upon, though.
Taranis is related by blood to the canon families Rosier and Flint (third generation), as well as the families Selwyn and Tripe (fourth generation). They’re related to the Blacks via marriage in the fourth generation. R. Flint was the little brother of Ursula Flint who married Phineas Nigellus Black.
Furthermore, the last dscendant of Morgana le Fay who had been the very first animagus, married into the family. She died in childbirth.
Being a family of healers, herbologists and Abraxan breeders, the Deruyters early on realised that marrying too close to one’s blood lowered magical prowess as well as life-expectancy; hence they chose to marry into pureblood families abroad.
Their lineage spreads throughout whole Europe.
Most family members were sorted into Ravenclaw, followed by Slytherin. L. Gioróid is one of the few Hufflepuffs. Going by the names on the tree only, his wife and her mother were the sole Gryffindors.
Their family motto “scientia et potentia in idem coincidunt” means “knowledge and power go together”.

What did your family achieve?:
The Devereaux family has been unique in its endeavors to become a part of muggle society while still retaining their place in the wizarding world. In accordance with their motto (Grow, Adapt, Accept), they have risen to be a very well-regarded family in both societies.
The Devereaux family is considered as having begun in the late 1400s with the arrival of merchant and alchemist Alexandre Devereaux from France, and his illicit dalliance with Elizabeth Woodville, who would go on to be Queen of England. The product of their union, Edmund Devereaux, would go on to be the father of the Devereaux line, which included a line of Earls of Essex as well as noted scholars such as Magibiologist Newton Scamander and Dark Arts master Vindictus Viridian (by marriage).

Date: 2011-05-23 02:20 am (UTC)EDIT: Okay, I double-checked for name-changes, etc now, and the URL was correct; the tree does belong to another member, not to the one you stated.
I'll leave the link anonymous though, because this could lead to wrong conclusions!
