Wizarding Games: Tengwar Translations: Results

Tengwar Translations

Firstly, the text was in the Tengwar Script, which most of you know as Elvish from Tolkien's works.

The actual writing was in English, it was just written with a different alphabet than our own.

A quick google throws up lots of sites such as this one, this one or this one.

So here we go, the translated text:

1) Puzzle 1, word for word as in the picture, but in proper English words:
Bold Gryffindor from wild moor
Fair Ravenclaw from glen [excess word]
Sweet Hufflepuff from valley broad
Shrewd Slytherin from Fen

2) What's the odd word?
Funny story here, it changed every day. :D The words used were:

4) Puzzle 2, word for word as in the picture, but in proper English words:

Gil-galad was an Elven-king.
Of him the harpers sadly sing
The last whose land was fair and free.
Between the mountains and the sea.
His sword was long, his lance was keen.
His shining helm afar was seen.
The countless stars of heaven's field
were mirrored in his silver shield.

5) Where is the text from?
Lord of the Rings/Fall of Gil-Galad, I accepted anything along those lines.

6) Please provide the rest of the text:
But long ago he rode away,
and where he dwelleth none can say;
for into darkness fell his star
in Mordor where the shadows are.

7) What was that tricky word different?
'Land' was written, instead of 'realm' in the original.
