This is also a post for any problems within the community, suggestions, questions, queries, anything. All comments are screened.

Have a question? Enter it below and it will be addressed. Please keep your questions direct, concise, and be sure it has not already been addressed in the [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsishome or [livejournal.com profile] hh_clubs main userinfo.

1) How do I join a club?
  1. Be a member of [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsishome.

  2. Visit the [livejournal.com profile] hh_clubs main userinfo and find a club which is to your liking.

  3. Be sure to investigate thoroughly past activities to make sure you can handle doing them on top of your courseload. You can do this by using the clubs tags.

  4. Visit the Application/Roster post for the club you would like to join. These can be found on the main userinfo page.

  5. Apply according to the guidelines posted by the current club leader in that post.

  6. That's it! Start joining in on activities!


2) Do I need to wait for acceptance before joining in on activities?
Technically no- they are not locked in any way. But your points earned, if any, from the club activity may not be counted if you are not a member of that particular club. You may need to keep on your club leader to approve your membership to that club and make you official.

3) How do I become a clubs leader?
  1. Be an active member of [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsishome.

  2. Have been a member of [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsishome for at least two months.

  3. Fill out the application to lead the club of your choice when there is a slot available. This can be found in the clubs userinfo.
  4. You may want to prove yourself by running any available open club until the club of your choice becomes available.


4) Can I invent a club?
There are already tons of clubs that need attending. We'll make a post advertising if we have need for more. If it's too fabulous to wait, and you're helping with the current club-load, come up with a great concept, and pitch it to [livejournal.com profile] theaeblackthorn or [livejournal.com profile] nyreak.

5) I have a problem with a Club Leader/Member, whatever.
Not interested! Take it to [livejournal.com profile] nyreak and try not to be a Drama Queen. If you make a big deal you'll only make matters worse and make me hate you.

6) Ok, I've joined (Name of Club) but I can't find the post I'm looking for, what do I do?
All club posts and official posts made in this community have been catalogued with tags. Click on the appropriate Club to find dated links to all of its posts.

7) Ok, I've joined (Name of Club) but I can't find the most recent activity, what do I do?
All activities that are running at the moment can be found using the current tag.

8) What do I get for participating in Clubs?
Points for your House baby. What more do you need, knuts?

9) Yes, actually- I want to earn Knuts!
Tough. These are school clubs, not jobs. If you would like to earn knuts, or learn more about them, please visit the [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsishome main page and scroll through its FAQ. Clubs are just for fun and House Pride. And points. Don't forget the points.

Club Leader Specific FAQ


1) Okay, I lead a club- now what?
Come up with a fantastic concept for a points-earning activity. Pitch the idea to the mods, the link can be found in the userinfo and in the link list on the main page. Wait for approval, then post it to [livejournal.com profile] hh_clubs. You will also need to take applications and develop a roster for your club. Please keep me apprised of the link for your roster, faq, and anything else you come up with for our main page.

2) Is that it?!
No. Don't be stupid. You will be expected to post ONE points-earning activity per month, and one post every other week for general discussion to keep your club alive and active (the points-earning post can count as one of the two, depending on how many weeks are in that particular month.) All activities and posts from your club must be tagged accordingly. Also, you need to keep your club going- report inactive members, or infidels who are not a part of [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsishome or their common room. Nark. You must also report points earned on each activity which can be done using the links in the userinfo. Members of your club are counting on YOU to get their hard-earned points to the proper officials to be counted in with the month's total.
Oh, and we pay you for doing all this. Plus the fame and glory.

3) Does it have to be Potter-verse related?
No, but you should try to find tie-ins to keep it relevant and interesting to your members. They're not a part of this community to discuss real life all the time, they are here for an escape and have a particular interest in the world created by J.K. Rowling.

4) I'm having a problem with a club member!
I don't care. Deal with it the best you can and consider it a learning experience. If it gets further out of hand than a simple personality conflict, take it up with me privately or to [livejournal.com profile] nyreak or to your Prefect. But honestly? Just expect them on occasion, try to let it slide or brush it off- everyone has a bad day/year/lifetime and some people are just jerks.

Hi, I posted an application for a club leader position a week or so ago. I was just looking through all the info for becoming a club leader, and noticed that on the user info page, it states that you must be a member for one month, but here in the FAQs it mentions two months.

I think I am just being anxious to be a club leader, so I was wondering which amount of time was correct?

Points question!

Jack said that we can give 2 points for voting. I didn't request this when I submitted my activity, and now that voting is over and I want to submit my points, I'm confused. I asked if we had to specifically request to give voting points, and it was my understanding that we do not.

When submitting points, do we count non-participant voters as participants so their names show up in the drop-down menus for each House?

Hey,

I am so so so SORRY about this, but I wasn't sure where to ask. This is entirely embarrassing and I'm freaking out over it.

Anyway, I accidentally didn't put up an entry for voting. Due to an unreliable Internet connection, I didn't discover the problem until tonight, just a bit before voting is supposed to end.

I am sort of at a loss as to what to do, here. Would it be possible to grant the person "Your club leader is an idiot' points? What's the proper response here?

I really am so sorry about all of this. :(

Hi! So I may be quite silly and just missing this, but I checked the userinfo for the club leaders application and couldn't find it anywhere...am I just missing it? Or is it somewhere else?

Woo! Sas! I'm done with the DA. I've made sure there are any back posts tagged 'current' and I submitted the points.

And, hah. I just realized that this club faq still says "nyreak," who I'm pretty sure, isn't modding anymore.

That's all I've got. I hope someone has applied to take it over.

Erm... yeah. X_X I've been prodding around again, and I saw that "Ancient Runes" is part of [livejournal.com profile] hh_clubs's interests. I'd already asked for this club back in November when I was a wee noobie. Back then, some club leader positions weren't filled so I got Transfiguration (which I now adore). I've noticed that this time, all the club leader positions are filled. :3 I've already got a lot of ideas! Points, right? POINTS!

Can I create this new club? I'm sure having more than one club isn't going to be a problem (since [livejournal.com profile] ladyxmoonlight's a leader of two). ^^

If not, I'd love a set of restrictions to be added into the FAQ. ^^;

Not sure where else to put this, but I'd like to step down as Art Club leader. I haven't done anything with it in well over a month, and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. I'd rather someone else with more time be in charge of it. :)
