August Calendar

Dates important to you:

8th - Clubs Group 1 Activity
15th - Clubs Group 2 Activity
22nd - Clubs Group 1 Activity
28th - Clubs Group 2 Activity
(One of the activities has to be point-earning and one non-point-earning)

Please note that closings of challenges are not scheduled as they may vary.

The clubs have been divided into two groups, to create an even flow of Clubs activity and keep clumps of overactivity down.

Lastly, the prophet editors would like to know the winners of the most recent contests, so if you could comment below with that information I'll make sure they receive it.
In the future it would be appreciated if, when you tally up the points of your comps and announce the winners, you could make a reply to he 'letters to the editor' post on hihdailyprophet to let them know so that they can post the results.

Um... that isn't really going to work for the herbology club.
We do a herbfind every week, and the club members really like that...
I have done one 'extra' comp so far that went really well, and I was thinking about doing those a bit more regularly, but the main thing that holds us together is the herbfinds and I think my club members would be really sad if they were taken away.

I don't see a problem with that. Herbfinds count as activities too and the 2 activities are just a minimum. You can have more activities if you want to, so you can still do it weekly ^^ As for the non-point-earning activities, well, you usually have discussion posts after the herbfinds, right? I think that would count as non-point-earning activity. So I don't think you have anything to worry about ^_^

PSP ^^ I never use Photoshop, cause it works too darn slow on my laptop. The texture is actually a brown/white gradient ^^

Oh, that's good. I was just about to get them going again, and I was going to be v. sad if I couldn't keep doing them.

Wait, I'm a little confused...

So, we have to have an actvity posted by our groups date? And since The Dueling Club is group 1 we have to have an activity posted by the 8th and one by the 22nd? Or are those the only two dates that we can have an actvity?

o_o but then won't everyone's friends lists be flooded with "Herbology Club! Art Club! SPEW! Astronomy Club!" etc, etc, ad nauseum? Or will there be one big post and we...I dunno...o_o hahaha. I'm sort of confused.

...So we can't do our club things on other days? Because at first, like Nikkie, I thought it was "You have to have at least one activity by ___" ...No? Am I totally off? Ahh, I'm new to this, I'm scared of screwing up ):!

Well.. yes, but that's the way it's always been. There's not much that can be done about it, except for making new communities for all clubs, but we don't want to go there because we already have so much communities. There will, however, be a weekly mod post that will list everything that's going on with the links to it so people won't feel too lost ^_^;;

You have to have activities on the set dates themselves. You are allowed to have more activities on other dates, but most clubs just aren't that active ;) We might change the rule if all clubs suddenly go crazy and post 5 activities a month or something.

I don't remember they had to be one point earning/one non point earning activity being said in the officials room. I think they can both be point earning, as long as points are (as they always should be) given out within reason. Does that make sense?

haha I don't feel that I explained myself fully there. Like for the Restricted Section, I've always had a discussion for the books read at the beginning of the month, and they earn one point for a response to a question posed, one point for a question, limited to 15 points per user -- with the exception of extra points awarded to top commenters. And then when they suggest books for the following two months, they receive one point per suggestion, with a maximum of four points each.

I probably just confused you more :) But I just wanted to clear that up, since I don't think there was regulations saying there had to be one point earning/ one non-point earning activity.

I got it from the pretty word document we received, it says under 'job details':

D) Prod their Club Leaders to stay active and post monthly contests and activities (at least one point-earning and one non-point-earning activity/discussion)

I didn't know about it before I read that either ^_^;;

Haha I seem to have missed that... I think I'll edit my post in hh_officials to bring this up... because the only non-point earning activity I do in the Restricted Section is the voting on books... haha and that's not really that much. But I don't feel its necessary as long as they don't get carried away with points :) Are you okay/in agreement with that?

Yes, I agree. I think the rule is mainly to keep people from having multiple contests with the 50-40-30 point system. So yeah, as long as things don't turn into a big point fest I think it should be okay :)
