Biography: Andromeda Black was born in November 1954 as a middle daughter, three years younger than Bellatrix and a year older than Narcissa. She looked so much like Bellatrix that people who had never met her often thought she was her older sister; she developed a repertoire of snarky comebacks and nasty hexes for those who refused to acknowledge that she was her own person. Being a Slytherin in the shadow of such a dominant personality was frustrating, even though she would eventually develop a reputation in her own right... enough so to be invited to the Slug Club, at least.
Ultimately, every pureblood wizard she dated would insist on comparing her to Bellatrix; worse, they might very well insist on calling her by the name of her elder sister instead of by her own name (a mistake which got more than one violently thrown out of bed and out the window). In order to find someone who respected her for her and not just as a clone of her sister, she had to look away from the usual circles, which is why she ended up looking at Muggleborn wizards who never would have thought of Bellatrix as anything other than a mortal enemy. She fell in love with the way Ted Tonks said her name... it was a sign that he loved her, not her sister.
Sure, some of the more unstable elements of Andromeda's family would never accept the marriage... but she knew it would endure... and that she would endure throughout it all...
