Honestly, Hannah hadn't expected it to happen this way. She just wanted to try a simple Color-Changing Charm on her hair to see how it would feel to be a ginger, then harmlessly reverse the charm to return to blonde status. But the charm had a devilishly tricky little wand flick involved and she'd done it the teeniest bit wrong. Instead of a nice ginger like that Ginny Weasley girl had, Hannah's hair turned the red of a new Quaffle. She was horrified when she looked in the mirror. Not only that, since she hadn't done the charm properly, the reversal spell she learned didn't help either. Instead, it caused clumps of that red hair to start falling, looking like streaks of fire as it hit the dorm room floor. Now thoroughly terrified, it was all she could do to rush to Madam Pomfrey--her hood over her head, hair continuing to fall--and plea for some assistance in getting her hair back to normal. Pomfrey, who saw so many cases of this among female students that it no longer phased her, quickly and calmly helped. That was how Hannah learned to work with what you have.
