Activity Name: Minority Reports
Points: 1st/2nd/3rd/Participation Only: 50/40/30/10 points.
Details: This game will combine the two divinationy skills of predicting trends and influencing social conventions. Forsee the outcome of 10 threads on what you believe will be the LEAST favoured outcome each time. 10 pts for taking part in all ten threads, with placement for the greatest accuracy.

Aaand the results are in!

It was a tough battle, but we've finally worked through your votes, and can I just say thank you for the wonderful turnout from all houses? I've wanted to do a game like this for a few terms now, so the fact it got good representation from all round made it the gruelling battle I'd hoped it would be :)

I'm going to reveal this question-by-question. You might want to open the original game post in a seperate tab. You'll only be able to see your own votes, and can compare them with the outcomes! There were a couple of people who didn't vote for a stipulated option, but gave a response close enough for me to know what they meant (eg, answering YES to a true/false question). In these instances, I just allowed it to stand.

As I'd said in the beginning, I'll probably unscreen everyone's votes once we're finished and done with. But for now, let's look at our own ones, yeah? :)

QUESTION 01
Are you fluent in more than one language?
    ◦YES: 18 votes
    ◦NO: 17 votes
The seventeen people who voted "NO" here are awarded two Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! If one of the people who had picked 'Yes' here changed their mind and switched their vote to 'No', they would have changed the win/lose payouts for everybody..... except themself. Because they're a loser.

QUESTION 02
Who will win the US Presidential election?
    ◦DEMOCRATS: 18 votes
    ◦REPUBLICANS: 17 votes
The seventeen people who voted "REPUBLICANS" here are awarded two Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! An overwhelming number of monolingual people from Q1 voted Republican here. The multilingual people from that question vastly favoured the Democrats.

QUESTION 03
What is your handedness?
    ◦LEFT-HANDED: 15 votes
    ◦RIGHT-HANDED: 19 votes
The fifteen people who voted "LEFT-HANDED" here are awarded two Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! Of the seven most recent Presidents of the United States, four have been left-handed. One President (Reagan) was ambidextrous.

QUESTION 04
"This statement is false."
    ◦AGREE: 16 votes
    ◦DISAGREE: 19 votes
The sixteen people who voted "AGREE" here are awarded two Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! Variations on this Liar's Paradox can be traced as far back as the 4th century BC.

QUESTION 05
"Excessive capslocking on the Internet is rude."
    ◦TRUE: 19 votes
    ◦FALSE: 16 votes
The sixteen people who voted "FALSE" here are awarded two Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! Fourteen of us responded to this in block capitals. Nine of these people answered false. Of the fourteen, half were Gryffindors.

QUESTION 06
Are you going to place in this activity?
    ◦YES: 12 votes
    ◦NO: 23 votes
The twelve people who voted "YES" here are awarded two Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! Two of the people who did place actually voted 'No' here.

QUESTION 07
If you do place, how well will you do?
    ◦FIRST PLACE: 7 votes
    ◦SECOND PLACE: 22 votes
    ◦THIRD PLACE: 6 votes
The six people who voted "THIRD PLACE" here are awarded three Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! As above, two people who did place incorrectly predicted their podium positions.

QUESTION 08
Which of these is the biggest vice?
    ◦SEX: 13 votes
    ◦DRUGS: 12 votes
    ◦ROCK & ROLL: 10 votes
The ten people who voted "ROCK & ROLL" here are awarded three Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! Rock & Roll was selected by 50% of participating Hufflepuffs. Similarly, these same Hufflepuffs also constitute half the total of members successfully picking the right answer.

QUESTION 09
Whose philosophy toward Divination is the greatest?
    ◦TEAM TRELAWNEY: 5 votes
    ◦TEAM FIRENZE: 21 votes
    ◦TEAM HERMIONE: 9 votes
The five people who voted "TEAM TRELAWNEY" here are awarded three Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! I've been trying to think of a way to get the Team Hermione/Trelawney/Firenze thing into an activity legitimately since I put it as an elective question on the Roster a year ago. :P

QUESTION 10
Who will be crowned the Term XXIV House Cup Champions?
    ◦GRYFFINDOR: 11 votes
    ◦HUFFLEPUFF: 9 votes
    ◦RAVENCLAW: 7 votes
    ◦SLYTHERIN: 8 votes
The seven people who voted "RAVENCLAW" here are awarded four Special Snowflake points for successfully becoming the minority!

Fun fact! Over 57% of us chose our own house for this question.

I like how some of the questions formulated clear minorities, whilst others had a much tighter outcome. Also, a few of them ended up with runaway majorities. Interesting psychological games afoot?

Anyway, in the grand scheme of things, what's happened? It's time to announce the results!

1st place goes to [livejournal.com profile] mmailliw of Slytherin with 16 Special Snowflake points!
2nd place was a three-way tie: [livejournal.com profile] cyyt of Gryffindor and [livejournal.com profile] snowfire & [livejournal.com profile] tralfamadore of Ravenclaw each collected 14 Special Snowflakes!
3rd place goes to [livejournal.com profile] ffaddict89 of Ravenclaw with 13 Snowflake points! Way to go!

I'll try and upload a full breakdown of votes, points and suchwhats if I get the chance tomorrow- I know there's plenty of people round here who are suitably geeky to love that kind of review opportunity. I'll also look at uploading everything as a google document.

Now it's time to reveal the big finale! How did everyone get on?

GRYFFINDOR: 248 points
HUFFLEPUFF: 170 points
RAVENCLAW: 230 points
SLYTHERIN: 140 points

Way to go Gryffindor! Also congrats to Ravenclaw for not only getting a close second, but for getting three people to place!
