Severus slammed his hand into the wall of his dorm room, then angrily threw his wand , watching as it struck the chest of drawers before falling onto the floor with a loud clattering.
His cheeks still burned in shame and embarrassment. The sounds of their laughter, loud and mocking, still echoed in his head.
He hated them. He hated them more than he had ever thought it was possible to hate anyone. The rage he felt for them was burning a hole through his insides, and his fists clenched just hearing their names.
But more than he hated them, he hated her.
For leaving him. For picking sides. For choosing them over him. When he had been the one who stuck with her all those years. When he had been the one to teach her and protect her and defend her.
She was supposed to be his friend. She was supposed to be the one he could talk to, confide in. She wasn’t supposed to sit there and watch his public humiliation happen, with a look of pity and sympathy across her face.
And when it was over, she was supposed to care about him. But instead, she took the hand of his torturer and walked away. Like it didn’t matter. Like he didn’t matter.
Like he wasn’t the one who loved her. Who always had.
Severus slammed his hand into the wall again. He hated her. He hated them. But most of all, he hated loving a girl who would never again be the girl he used to know.
