Your Song: Better Days by the Goo Goo Dolls - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-kHleNYIDc Event: The whole Second Wizarding War/The Final Battle Essay: Why does the song remind you of this event? This song has always screamed Harry Potter to me. Particularly lines like "and the one poor child who saved this world/and there's ten million more who probably could" say a lot to me. In my mind, this refers to Harry as the "one poor child who saved this world" and the other half of the couplet refers most obviously to Neville. But it's also an interesting comment on something I've always believed of the Harry Potter series - that there are so many other people who probably could have managed in Harry's position, that he was just the one unlucky enough to end up in that situation.
I think of this song as being from Neville's (or Harry, but mostly Neville) point of view during his seventh year and the final battle. He's talking (or singing), maybe to Luna or Ginny about how more than anything, he just wants things to be okay, and I think that's a big theme in the series as well. Word Count: 165
