I actually think this comparison was purposeful by JKR, since daffodils are Narcissus plants- like the greek myth about Narcissus who was enraptured by his own beauty. And on the flip side, in the east, daffodils are viewed as symbols of wealth and good fortune. Narcissa is quite wealthy from what we know, and has the good fortune of managing to keep her family together.
