Who was your favourite DADA Professor???

Whilst the position of DADA professor was cursed, Hogwarts went through many professors - In this task tell us about one of them. This needs to be a completely new professor, invented by you - NOT ANYONE FROM CANON.



1. Name: Agustine Artichake
Age: 59
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Appearance: Where once his hair was sandy blonde it is now salt and peppered with greys. He is the average height of 6'0 even and perhaps his most remarkable feature is that of his yellow cat like eyes.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Believes in the way of old british society wizards and has been known to dock points from his students for inproper manners. Firmly believes he was stripped of his rightful order of Merlin first class due to the fact that, although he claims to have found the cure for spattergroit, he accidently dropped the vial and thus the potion was gone forever.
DADA Specialism: Things that were once/still are human in essence. Examples: Vampires, Inferi, Werewolves etc.
How/Why they left the position: Hit on a young Professor McGonagall, left the position and vanished completely shortly thereafter.
What the students thought of them: A pompous nutter. Always going on about proper duel etiquette and played clear favourites with the Ravenclaws to the point where even the Ravenclaws didn't like the attention.
Anything else interesting: Despite being against Wizard sensibility was quite devoted to collecting muggle teasets. His favourite had two children wrestling on it until one of them stood triumphantly over the other one.


2. Name: Eric Nordstrom
Age: 33(ish)
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Appearance: 6'4", blonde hair, blue eyes; lanky but muscular; eyes make him seem older than his time; quite pale
Mannerisms/Quirks: Insists on holding class at night; forbids students from eating garlic or wearing silver in his classroom; not fond of really pointy wands
DADA Specialism: Vampires, werewolves, and shifters
How/Why they left the position: Took a job in the corporate sector running a bar
What the students thought of them: Students loved him, but they avoided going to his office. Something about a coffin.
Anything else interesting: Occasionally referred to children as "teacup muggles" or "teacup wizards."


3. Name: Professor Gleeburn
Age: 48
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor!
Appearance: Slim, tall man. Known for his incredible good looks at such an old age.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Quite quirky, likes to make jokes and treats everyone equally.
DADA Specialism: Tackled a vampire who wanted his blood at the age of 18. He wrote a book about it and is now known as a 'Vampire Slayer'.
How/Why they left the position: The vampire he first killed's clan is coming after him, and he didn't want to put his students and favorite school so he fled, never to be seen again (myth says he was found drained of blood a few months later).
What the students thought of them: They thought he was amazing - one of the best DADA teachers out - well, not including Lupin.
Anything else interesting: During summer holidays, he loved watching re-runs of Glee!


4. Name: Inka Patertou
Age: 25 at the time.
Hogwarts House: As an army brat (Muggle father) she traveled around from Muggle school to Magical school for many years. She was never a student at Hogwarts.
Appearance: Tall, blond hair in a librarian bun, dark blue eyes, modern or very short robes because of her being around Muggles so often, always wearing heels and conservative skirts, and has a birthmark at the right side of her neck.
Mannerisms/Quirks: She's both conservative and modern. She is up to date with the Muggle world, but has a very business-oriented personality. She is a good teacher, but her lessons plans are written in advance and she doesn't enjoy deviating from them. She is awkward when students attempt to speak to her outside of class. She doesn't ever feel comfortable around anyone.
DADA Specialism: Because of having lived in so many places, she had learned from all of the best DADA professors around the world. She remembers everything they taught her and the different ways in which they did so her knowledge of the field is much more broad, and she can understand the different Magical Cultures and their use of DADA.
How/Why they left the position: She had a much better offer to work at a Magical/Muggle university as both a professor of DADA and How To Be Magical In A Muggle World. She didn't develop any attachment to Hogwarts, and only visited it twice after leaving the position.
What the students thought of them: She was very attractive so the boys and some girls enjoyed looking at her, but her awkward way of speaking to them one-on-one turned them off. She was disrespected at first for being young and deluded as a professor, but after they noticed her rigid lessons and no room for improvisation or deviation, they took the class seriously and listened intently. At least those students who wanted to do well.
Anything else interesting: She never married, though a famous Muggle explorer fell in love with her at a professor's convention. She stood him up on the date they were finally supposed to have, and since then she never spoke to many men.


5. Name: Professor Hinklestein
Age: 75 at the time he took the position.
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Appearance: Tall, dark, and rather stereotypically Jewish.
Mannerisms/Quirks: From the choices of his clothing, most students thought that he was colorblind, though all of his robes were usually of a high quality. He also had a tendency to exclaim "yes!" really loudly whenever a student got an answer correct, and shake his head emphatically with a loud "oy vey" when they were wrong, gesturing frantically as he explained the correct answer.
DADA Specialism: Vampires and other blood-sucking creatures.
How/Why they left the position: Religious reasons.
What the students thought of them: A bit eccentric, but intelligent.
Anything else interesting: He started quite a few books, but never finished them.


6. Name: Tisiphone Clearwater
Age: 45
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Appearance: Tall and lean. Short, dark, curly hair. Always wears her house colours. Keeps her fingernails long and pointed "as a last-ditch weapon."
Mannerisms/Quirks: She is deathly afraid of cats and lettuce. She is incapable of issuing a direct order; when assigning homework, she always begins, "We would like you to read this for Monday..."
DADA Specialism: Teaching her students to fight the Dark Arts in the pursuit of justice. She believes strongly in fair, but severe, punishments for wrong-doers, especially murderers and crazy cat ladies. A record number (24) of her students were eventually accepted as Aurors. She is also an accomplished dueller.
How/Why they left the position: Several students' cats escaped from their owners in the dead of night and somehow (she blamed Peeves) made their way into her room. In a panic she turned the cats into helium balloons and they floated on the ceiling until morning. Her traumatic memories, not to mention the parental complaints against her anti-cat behaviour, caused her to leave the school and start a social group for dog lovers.
What the students thought of them: Her Hufflepuff-themed clothes gave her the nickname "The Bumblebee", but she was generally respected. Her support for practical DADA lessons meant they were popular with the students but not with the matron in the hospital wing. Although her concern for strict justice meant that rule-breakers earned severe detentions, she was known for her willingness to tutor struggling students.
Anything else interesting: She played Quidditch while a Hogwarts student, but resigned in protest after the referee awarded an unfair penalty to the opposing team. She has denied any involvment in said referee's subsequent hair loss.


7. Name: Thomas Hinton
Age: 28
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Appearance: Short, dark hair, suprisingly tall, very thin and pale, blue eyes
Mannerisms/Quirks: Likes things tidy. Will obsessively fix things that are not in order
DADA Specialism: Counter curses and Dark magic theory.
How/Why they left the position: An anxiety attack that damaged him permanently.
What the students thought of them: They thought he was a bit of a joke and teased him a lot, but some students admired his enthusiasm for the topic and that he knew such a lot about it.
Anything else interesting: He's allergic to cats.


8. Name: Nicho Pudding
Age: 62
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Appearance: Short and stout, like a teapot (the students actually called him that behind his back). Balding and pale. He did have nice teeth, though.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Believes himself to be Merlin's gift to women, especially Minerva. Smelled of cheap Muggle cologne. Liked to sunbathe nude by the lake.
DADA Specialism: 'RUN AWAY!' as a defense technique. Being used for the results of Riddikulus charms by students many years to come.
How/Why they left the position: Realized he could never be with someone who turned in to a cat (allergies); Minerva was really the only reason he took the position to begin with.
What the students thought of them: They thought he was a complete joke.
Anything else interesting: He can now be found doing karaoke at the Leaky Cauldron, if you're interested. They've kicked him out numerous times for it but he keeps coming back.


9. Name: Prunella Carlingcott
Age: 29
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Appearance: Dark hair, black eyes, of Indian descent. Tall, pretty but not in an obvious way. Wears strict glasses on principle.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Eats alone in her classroom and rarely leaves it for she would have to check it again for dark curses when coming back. Takes pleasure in recreating the atmosphere of a real fight against dark matters, to the point of having her own stock of Borgin and Burkes supplies neatly arranged in the classroom closet.
DADA Specialism: Curse-breaker.
How/Why they left the position: Her curiosity went too far - she opened a letter sent to her by owl inviting her to take an entire collection of dark artefacts to study but the owl was written on a ripped page of The Spellbinding Book - she had to read the page over and over till she dropped dead of exhaustion. Since she received the owl on a Saturday morning, by the time her colleagues wondered about her absence, it was too late.
What the students thought of them: On her first day, she insisted on Apparating in the Forbidden Forest with each one of her first year students. Believes in getting a first hand experience of the Dark Arts to fight them better and a little too much so. She requested the use of real Dementors no less than three times to teach her pupils how to successfully cast a Patronus Charm. She planned an educational visit to Azkaban and a week-long trip to Nurmengard before bothering to ask the Headmaster for his permission. Her pupils were mostly scared of her. The bravest learnt a lot - Prunella was tough but competent and taught them how to react while facing immediate danger.


10. Name: Ian Flomming
Age: 26
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Appearance: A short man with dark brown hair. He could easily be mistaken as a student as he walked the halls of Hogwarts although with his shoulders back and his head held high, he had enough confidence to redeem his small stature.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Although Professor Flomming was a tough man, he tended to keep pictures of Rabbits all around his room. He could be found eating carrots on his days off in the gardens.
DADA Specialism: He specialised in Vampires.
How/Why they left the position: Unfortunately Flomming decided to pursue a route in Creative Writing and left his day job.
What the students thought of them: Although he was a tough teacher, Flomming was the kind of man that had a flare to his lessons. His enthusiasm showed and his students appreciate it.
Anything else interesting: Although Flomming did not succeed with Creative Writing he became a well known double act of the the famous Flemming namesake.


11. Name: Professor Elrond Leonus Phasmatis
Age: 38
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Appearance: Professor Phasmatis stands at a healthy 6'2". He is of a slender build, but is very toned from his athletic days [he was a Chaser on his House Quidditch team]. His hair is an ashy blonde, lighter in streaks from natural highlighting of the sun. He keeps his face clean-shaven. A dusting of freckles scatter across his prominant cheekbones and sculpted nose, and pearly whites shine when he smiles.
Mannerisms/Quirks: When Professor Phasmatis is thinking, he twiddles his fingers across his lips. He also faces the board after he asks a question, and when a student has answered correctly, he jumps and spins around, pointing at the student and shouting 'That's it!' He's a fun teacher though; his students enjoy him.
DADA Specialism: Professor Phasmatis's specialty is tree nymphs/spirits: dryads, hamadryads, and meliai. He is especially good with the Kodama, a tree nymph in Japan.
How/Why they left the position: He and his partner adopted a baby, and he wanted to be able to devote all his heart to his new daughter.
What the students thought of them:No one will ever beat Professor Lupin, but Professor Phasmatis is a very close second to the students of Hogwarts.
Anything else interesting: Professor Phasmatis likes to be called 'Big Papa.'


12. Name: Eliza Shuffasomption
Age: 73
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Appearance: plump, small, fast on her feet, wears red high heels and bright blue lipstick. Hair is all white now, streaked with hogwarts colors because she likes to cheer on house unity and she can't figure out how to change it back.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Has a high pitched voice, loud, likes to talk a lot. She also insists on all windows being open in the classroom and students sitting together in a circle on the floor.
DADA Specialism: teaching from the text, in the way where she made it matter. Where she could teach it enough from the book that when students tried it they didn't take long to get the hang of it.
How/Why they left the position: Unexpected pregnancy when she was 50, Flitwick is the father and he spends the summer with them. She has turned to writing DADA texts now and instruction manuals on how to not do things.
What the students thought of them: The students liked her, she was fun, if a bit weird, she was easy to get stuff past and the Marauders often snuck out of her class because things got so loud that no one noticed.
Anything else interesting: She enjoys long walks on the beach and frisky - husbands!


13. Name: Willa Hag
Age: 79
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Appearance: A tall, thin woman with a sour, haggard face. Greyish skin and patchy, pepper hair. A long, pointy nose, too small eyes and a downward mouth.
Mannerisms/Quirks: She had many pet mice she would carry around with her in a little cage all the time, but because she gesticulated so much when she spoke, they were always going flying. She had a few teeth missing and often spat when she spoke. She often spoke to herself, muttering too quietly for anyone to understand.
DADA Specialism: Counter-Curses and protection spells
How/Why they left the position: Willa saw two 6th year students sneaking into the Forbidden Forest for some 'alone time' after midnight. Willa chased after them to stop them, as the teachers had just been warned that a werewolf had been spotted around the forest, so they were to keep the kids away from it. When she caught up with them, they were cornered by the wolf, and when she used her skills in protection spells to save them, she diverted the attention to herself, and the werewolf pounced on her and killed her.
What the students thought of them: Willa looked like a mean, old crone, but she actually loved the kids. She would always try to be friendly, and patient with the kids who weren't so bright at DADA but the kids all hated her anyway because she looked and acted creepy and smelled like cabbage.
Anything else interesting: Willa Hag is buried in Godric's Hollow, 6 gravestones to the left and 2 down from Ariana Dumbledore's. Willa had lived there before she took up the teaching position at Hogwarts.


14. Name: Tammy Parlowe
Age: 22
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Appearance: Black long hair, blue eyes, slightly freckled about the nose, skin is dark. About 5'5 tall
Mannerisms/Quirks: Very chatty to the point where she she needs to be told to shut up. A tad hyper as she's still rather young but knows her course load rather well.
DADA Specialism: Jelly-Brain jinx
How/Why they left the position: Tammy left because her Jelly-Brain jinx hoax went a bit to far... and backfired on her. She's still recuperating at St. Mungo's.
What the students thought of them: They thought she was pretty cool.
Anything else interesting: Not really


15. Name: Pickulonda Sidebottom
Age: while teaching: 46-52
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Appearance: A short, stocky witch with extremely frizzy hair and a truly absurd number of pieces of purple clothing.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Professor Sidebottom became increasingly convinced over time that more and more of her students each year were either werewolves or vampires. She was a very overbearing person with the annoying habit of considering herself something of an expert on all the various subjects of her fellow teachers, in addition to her own.
DADA Specialism: Dark Creatures (...supposedly)
How/Why they left the position: She was let go at the conclusion of a term during which she accused over 100 students of being werewolves and another 25 of being vampires. She spent well over half that term with her first year classes on the subject of werewolves. Her once seemingly harmless enthusiasm for the subject of dark creatures had turned into an unfortunate obsession. Parents of frightened first years flooded the school with an unprecedented number of complaints and calls for Professor Sidebottom's resignation.
What the students thought of them: Younger students were bewildered by her erratic behavior and wild accusations. Many of them found her frightening. Older students were generally amused by her antics, but those of them who wanted OWLS and NEWTS in her subject became frustrated with the lack of content covered in her classroom.
Anything else interesting: She was an avid quidditch fan. The students eventually noticed that members of their house quidditch teams were exempt from her accusations.

16. Name: Moonshine Rainbow Celtic Wonders. Miss Wonderfull, for short.
Age: Moonshine has no age. Her beauty is timeless. She has the wisdom of an old crone, and the spry step of a woodland fen.
Hogwarts House: Miss Wonderful is offended by this question. She cannot be classified. Moonshine belongs in all the houses, and then some. In fact, Dumbledore appointed her to be Head of Head of House - she's second only to the Headmaster himself.
Appearance: Miss Wonderful has gleaming red hair that is alternately wildly curly or straight as a pin, depending on her mood. She has unusual purple eyes that tend to frighten people before they realize what a kind and gentle nature Miss Wonderful has (unless someone makes her mad!) Moonshine has the body of a Barbie, with legs and a neck so long that doctors worry for her health. She shrugs them off, of course - Moonshine's never been sick a day in her life.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Miss Wonderful has the awful, awful burden of being part fairy. Because of that, she attracts men like flies, and is the most beautiful person in the world. Moonshine is deeply afraid that someone will find out her deep, dark secret.
DADA Specialism: Miss Wonderful specializes in ALL areas of DADA (and every other subject, besides). She is best friends with a centaur, she visits the mermaids every other weekend, and she has a pet acromantula who is loyal only to her. Because of her fairy heritage, no harmful spell can hit her - Unforgivables hold no sway.
How/Why they left the position: Moonshine left her teaching position because all of England collectively cried out for her to become Minister of Magic. It was a heart-wrenching decision (how was she supposed to leave the students who needed her?) but in the end she decided that she could do more good by becoming Minister. After all, the other man running had a goatee. Who knows what kind of person he was.
What the students thought of them: At first, Hermione despised her because Miss Wonderful had nicer hair than her. But then Miss Wonderful lent her an ancient book and offered her an unlimited supply of Sleakeasy, and Hermione and Miss Wonderful were bffs! Harry and Ron both had major crushes on her, of course, but they respected her for who she was. Draco Malfoy went through a complete transformation because of Miss Wonderful, and renounced his bullying ways.
Anything else interesting: Voldemort came back to life! I know, you weren't expecting that. Apparently, Moonshine was the only one who could defeat him. Professor Trelawney was pretty bummed that her prophecies didn't count for anything, but Harry was stoked that he didn't have to keep on killing the bad guys! Don't even worry about it, though. Moonshine came up with a clever plot to infiltrate the Death Eaters. It was very traumatic for her, but she got over it when everyone hailed her a hero.


17. Name: Fabio McSteamy
Age: Ageless
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Appearance: Golden flowing locks, rippling chest muscles, and a blinding smile
Mannerisms/Quirks: A penchant for not wearing shirts and flipping his hair
DADA Specialism: Being so ridiculously good looking the bad guys just give up
How/Why they left the position: He got a spot on his face from a runaway pixie and flounced crying from the grounds.
What the students thought of them: The females where a fan of the class, the males thought he was a twat
Anything else interesting: He likes to be followed around with a posse of house elves who throw glitter and rose petals in his general vicinity.


18. Name: Jebiddiah Pip
Age: 19
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Appearance: Metamorphmagus - but had a strong liking for short, spiky blue hair.
Mannerisms/Quirks: Said "dude" a lot.
DADA Specialism: Is a highly skilled occlumens and legilimens
How/Why they left the position: Started dating one of his students
What the students thought of them: He was fresh outta Hogwarts - so there were some very mixed feelings. Some of them were very happy, because he was their friend. Others found it weird to be given homework by someone they used to copy from.
Anything else interesting: He was the youngest ever member of Hogwarts staff, and after the incident with the Ravenclaw girl, it is unlikely that they would hire anyone so young again.
