Potion Name: Soothing and Cleansing Broth
Ingredients:
2 cups water and 2 chicken bouillon cubes, or 2 cups chicken broth - this is a traditional and time-honoured ingredient known to soothe the stomach when heated.
2 teaspoons (or to taste) mild red chili, powdered: to add flavor, help clear up stuffy noses, and in some cases, can help alleviate even chronic pain.
Juice from 1/2 medium lemon: to provide Vitamin C, which is a useful antioxidant and is known to help with stress symptoms.
Fresh oregano and basil to taste: oregano provides an anti-microbial effect for any food-borne pathogens, and also provides extra antioxidants; basil is known to have antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-viral, and anti-microbial properties, and is often used to naturally treat stress symptoms
Preparation:
Bring the water to a boil and dissolve the bouillon cubes in it, or heat the stock broth to a boil, then lower to a decent simmer. Add the chili, basil and oregano; stir for ~5-10 minutes to let the flavor sink in. Squeeze the lemon directly over your pot or cauldron and turn off the heat. Cool to a pleasant drinking temperature before consuming.
Result: A nice, spicy broth that can be consumed by itself or used as a base for soup (but the recipe should probably be doubled or tripled to make a decent pot of soup). It is extremely healthy, and feels lovely and warm going down.
