This is a fun topic. I'm big on 'giving back' in this day and age, what with the toilet bowl we're in (so to speak).

It would be wonderful to start a rally against the pervertedness of today's society. I think of all the heightened sexuality that has been feeding into people's brains constantly, especially the minds of innocent children. I am extremely against the sex slavery that is abroad and even here in America. Not many people know about it, but it is just as big of an epidemic as AIDS or cancer. It is a disgusting disease that pervades young people's lives and should be stopped almost at any cost. But people see it as taboo, and don't want to talk about it because they don't want to get certain "men" in trouble.

This past October, I was cast in a show called Magdalene. I play a young girl who gets gang raped at the age of 12, and then becomes a part of a prostitution ring soon thereafter. At the moment, we are trying to get this show on the road to raise money for this cause; getting young girls (and young boys, believe it or not) out of the sex trafficing that goes on world wide. All of the proceeds made from the show will go directly to getting these young innocent lives out of the hands of horrible adults who have just enough of a sick and twisted mind to do this to sweet young babies.

What we can do, as HiH, and as decent human beings, is spread the word. Tell people about it and Speak out against it. See it for what it is: a horrible crime and disgusting "trade", and maybe rally people together and support the small groups that are doing what they can to stop this mess. It's a hard thing to do, because it involves a lot of under cover operations and such to go in and stop what's being done, but if we raise awareness, maybe we can stop these evildoers in their tracks, before they cause more harm.

Also, check out the film, The Day My God Died. It's a documentary on this issue.

I have this lovely book called 'Change the world for a fiver' and it costs (predictably) only £5. It's got some lovely ideas in it about how to make the world a 'better place.' For example it has things from grow your own christmas tree (seeds included) so that it's ready for 2012, to buying fair trade products, to taking your own carrier nags to the supermarket, to writing to someone who had inspired you. It really is a lovely book.

I think quite a lot of the problem is, not only as mentioned above, do people pass on the buck to others and think other people will deal with it, but also people think that, even if they did try eg recycling, travelling by bicycle etc to prevent pollution, that it wouldn't make a difference. It can be very difficult to see how your tiny tiny actions can make a difference, when no one else bothers and there are still hoardes of people driving in to work everyday while you're puffing along. It really isn't very motivating and makes it easy to give up.
