Details: Potions can be a tricky business with some magnificent results. But should it be monitored and if so, how? The Ministry is considering instituting a control over Veritaserum and we're going to discuss whether or not that's necessary and/or a good idea.

Follow for details! )

Activity: Composer Stamping
Points: 10pts for submitting an app, 2pts each per vote, 30pt cap.
Deadline: Submit the solved puzzle by Saturday, September 15th @ 21:59 UTC. (timezone converter)
Details: It's composer stamping time! You all know how stamping works and this is jsut the same game as always; fill out an application, stamp and get stamped! The drill this time: You will not stamp your fellow members by looking at the composers' biographies but by whose music you think they resemble; i.e. if someone's bubbly character reminds you of that lively Mozart symphony, your vote for them will be Mozart (I hope that makes sense?). I provided audio examples for each composer in the list below, but the point of this is to get you listen to lots of new and beautiful music!

suspense! )

Activity: Ein Frauenzimmer muß nicht componieren wollen (Female Composers)
Points: Long debate: Participation 10pts, Additional comment: 2pts, 30pts limit.
Deadline: Submit by Sunday, September 30th @ 21:59 UTC. (timezone converter)
Details: Discussion about female composers in history.

Compared to their male colleagues, there are very few female composers and even fewer who we actually know much about - most of them also seem to be connected to (more) famous male composers; there was Francesca Caccini, daughter of famous Baroque composer Giulio Caccini, Clara Schumann, wife to Robert Schumann who encouraged her not to give up composing and Fanny Mendelssohn, forced to publish several of her works under her brother Felix's name. Why were there so few female composers, what could and would ahve changed if there'd been more? Many questions worth a discussion!

As usual, you'll get ten points for your initial comment (which should be at least 100-150 words long) and two more for each additional comment (I'm not giving you any limits for this, but please, show that you've put some thought and effort in it, just saying "I agree/don't agree" isn't enough) with a limit of 30 points as a total.

As always, there are no roster grace periods, so double and even triple check that you're on it. Also, please sign every comment with your name and house, otherwise I won't be able to award you your points!
