Herbology Club: Big Comp #2 (Celtic Tree Astrology)

Big Herbology comp!

Celtic Tree Astrology

Herbs (in the broad sense including trees, bushes and flowers) play an important role in Celtic mythology, astrology and tradition.

Many of you have indicated that you are interested in looking into this, so for this our second ‘big’ herbology club activity, I thought I would focus on it.
As you know, Harry, Ron and Hermione all have wands made out of the wood of their celtic birth tree, and their personal characteristics match the properties of the wood.

I thought that as a group we could look at our own Celtic birth signs.
Under the various cuts below I am going to give a brief outline of the different traits said to be attributed to the people born under these signs.

Your job is to read this (and any other sources on the subject that you may come across) and decide how accurate it is, then do one of the following:


♠ create an icon featuring your plant (5 points)

♠ create a sig tag for yourself featuring your plant and some of it’s properties (the ones you think apply to you) (10 points)

♠ create a full set of sig tags (one for each tree) that you can customise for other members of the community (20 points)

♠ for those who are not willing or able to make graphics, write a poem for another HiH member, which tells them the qualities they share with their birth tree. You can do this in any form (sonnett, acrostic, limerick) (2 points per line up to 10 lines)
