The Animagus Club

As the Animagus Board is slowly making progress working its way through the current applications, I think it's time to announce a new rule:

Before you apply to become an animagus, you have to buy the first 5 books of the Standard Book of Spells Series at hh_diagon.

Why? Well, becoming an animagus is *difficult*. Not just any first year student can become one. The books symbolize the years you spend at Hogwarts and having 5 of them means you're a 5th year student (in this club) and able to become an animagus.

So, off you go, earn knuts, buy the books, then apply!

<b>Are there any animals you are afraid of?</b> Sharks and anything remotely crocodilian scare me to death...in fact, anything with the possibility of taking half of my body or more into its mouth and possessing a great deal of teeth wouldn't be on my list of favorite animals. Those two in particular are the worst, however. Seeing even a good-sized replica of them is enough to freeze me up, and send me backing up into the nearest wall, since I don't dare take my eyes away til I'm a good distance from them. I've run into too many animatronics not to be wary...and one of my jobs does, in fact, house both an alligator and a crocodile. LIVE, mind. That's the only floor I refuse to enter, even now, as they have a habit of getting loose.... <b>Why would you like to be an animagus?</b> The idea of being able to change and transform on a whim, that drastically, is simply too thrilling an option to pass up. It could prove useful, and it could be fun, tromping around in an animal alternative to one's everyday appearance. I've always enjoyed the idea of being able to shift and change and alter the way people perceive me, and this is just another way of doing that. I'm also curious which animal I might be most similar to, and gaining some vague idea of this would be entertaining, at the very least.

<b>House: </b> Slytherin <b>Best Trait:</b> Determination. Once I've decided I want something, I get it. Nothing can stand in my way. <b>Worst Trait:</b> I'm quite judgemental but I'm trying my best to fix that. <b>What would you want your animal form to be most capable of? </b> Migration. I was tempted to put 'flight' but that seemed so vague - a garden bird, for example, doesn't quite fit me (lovely as they are!). Every so often, I go a little crazy from staying in the same place for too long. Whether you call it wanderlust, escapism, or a holiday, I have to get away. Even a train journey to the coast for a few hours walking along the cliffs fixes my mood. I've lived in three countries and I'm only twenty one, so maybe that has something to do with it. My family always say I'm the most adventurous person they know but I'm not sure that's true - I'm not driven to experience new things, it's just something innate in my character that needs to get to the sea. I wish I could better explain it because it's more than just needing a holiday. If I can't afford to even go to the next town for a day then I get physically ill. I start imagining my entire body's itching and my head feels like it's going to explode. <b>Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth Water.</b> Water. I said above about my need for an escape and most often it's the sea that calls me. It's not the beach or anything like that - I'm just as happy walking along the cliffs or scrambling across the stony beaches of the Wirral as I am on a sandy beach. I don't even need to be able to go in the sea to appreciate it - as long as I can feel the sea breeze on my cheeks and I can taste the salt, I'm satisfied. I do love to swim though. I've been swimming for as long as I can remember - neither of my parents learnt to swim early on so they made sure both my brother and I did. My brother never took to it the way I did though. I was good. That sounds so arrogant but it's true. I competed for a while but I never liked it much - I much prefer a lazy breaststroke* and the time to appreciate my surroudings over a spring sprint that's over before it's begun. Ever since I was a child my most commmon dream has been that I'm swimming, and I still dream that to this day. Once I dreamt that I was flying home from school but 'flight' was just swimming out of water. That's why I've chosen water over the others. *This is not completely true. My 'lazy' breaststroke is still ridiculously fast XD I used to like swimming past kids I hated and accidentally kicking them in the face. But I don't do that now, now I just splash them a bit.

<b>Warm or cool? </b> Warm. I used to think I prefered cool weather but it's just not true. Nothing compares to feeling the sun on your face. One of my favourite memories from my childhood is sitting with all my friends, aged seven or eight, on the tarmac outside our house with the sun late in the evening. I've written so many times about this particular night and I still can't capture what made it so wonderful. It's hard to explain the pure elation that comes from sitting on still-warm tarmac with your friends until late at night, hoping your parents will never call you in to bed. Everything felt so free back then: we could have done anything. I'm not sure if it was the sun that made the night so pefect, or the night that makes me love the sun to this day, they're too intertwined in my mind to separate them now. I have polaroids of sunny days on my the back of my door so that I always leave the house in a good mood, and if the sun comes out when I'm stuck inside then I run over to the window every five minutes or so to stick my head out, look at the sky and grin like a fool. <b>Morning or evening?</b> Morning. I love waking up at six o'clock and walking across the park outside my house. I'm still looking for an early morning bakery so I can buy croissants on the way back because that's the only thing I can imagine that could improve the experience. Everybody says 'hello' so early, noone thinks you're about to jump them for their ipod. It's such a wholesome time of day, it seems silly to say that but it's true. Everytime I move to a new place I have to see it early in the morning before I can feel like I own it. Even as a child, on the campsites we used to holiday on in France, I'd get up early and wander around with no shoes on, sand and grass underfoot and the sun on my face. That's possibly where the desire for a six am croissant comes from, now I come to think of it. I'm reminded of school trips as well - being woken so early by my dad for a quick breakfast before going to catch the coach to Dieppe (we always went to Dieppe!) with my classmates. Aw, I miss school! But yes, I love the morning. Whether it's winter or summer, there is little better than a walk as the sun's coming up, the birds are singing, and the streets are almost empty. <b>Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner?</b> This is so difficult to answer. I love having people around me but I'm also quite a solitary character. I'm sociable, don't misunderstand, but even when I'm at a party with people I adore I like taking a moment and just watching everything, separating myself from the crowd. I think I like to have a group to belong to, but I also need the ability to be by myself at least for a short amount of time. There's a song I used to love which talks about 'thinking about things (I think too much)' and that sums it up exactly. I need time alone to think, but once alone I overanalyse and I need a group to go back to to stop me doing that. <b>Please give an accurate description of your appearance; pictures are welcome!</b> I'm quite tall - 5'10 - and skinny. Well, maybe not skinny anymore, but definitely slim. I find it quite difficult to describe my appearance because I always want to describe the way I looked in high school; skinny with braces, freckles and a ridiculous smile. I'm pale but it suits me, I have freckles which disappear every winter and I miss them frightfully when they go. I've got brown hair to my shoulders which is in desperate need of a trim, blue-gray eyes (bluer in summer), a nose that goes up at the end, and quite a petulant mouth. What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities?</b> Exploring the countryside, dreaming of places to see, swimming, picnicing on the hills, solo dance parties to the pop-punk/emo hits of 2001 (seriously, so much fun to be had throwing yourself around the room to Jimmy Eat World), letting my imagination run away with me, and walking through cities whilst everyone is asleep. Also the usual - kino, theatre, and books (current favourites: Valentín, The Wild Duck @ Donmar, Northanger Abbey).

<b>Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with?</b> I said on my original HiH app that I'd be a seagull and so I'll stick with that. Every town, city, island I've fallen in love with has been overrun by seagulls. I know a lot of people see them as a nuisance but they're not, they're wonderful.. I lived in Helsinki last year and I loved seeing them flying over the harbour and the market, shouting their mouthes off and diving for fish. I think they're such beautiful creatures and they really remind me of all the childhood holidays in Cornwall, Devon and Northern France that I loved so much. <b>Are there any animals you are afraid of?</b> I'm not afraid of slugs but I really don't like them. I had one on my hand once (an accident - I was climbing a wall and it just got stuck!) and though it didn't feel at all like I'd expected it too, it was vile all the same. I have been known to walk the long way around my block after encountering a particularly large specimin. The town I'm from, incidentally, has huuuuge slugs. I've since moved away and I've never seen anything as big as the ones that used to crawl up our windows late at night. Man, I feel the need to scour my hand again just thinking about it. <b>Why would you like to be an animagus? </b> To see the world from a different perspective.

Hi! It's hard to tell how long it will take right now. Hopefully just a couple of weeks! What I'd like to ask you, though; could you elaborate on some of your answers a bit? Right now I'm afraid your application is a bit short and the board members might not be able to pinpoint an animagus form for you. Some elaboration would really help a lot. Thank you!

<b>House:</b> Ravenclaw (with a lil' snake on the side) <b>Best Trait:</b> I think my best trait is my passion. Not sappy romance passion (<I>please</I> no), but passion for various projects, events, or fandoms. There's very few things that I get really excited about, but once I pour myself into something, boy, you'd better watch out. XD I can get a lot of creative work done, very well, very quickly, because of this trait. So many people are apathetic these days, content to lazily drift through life. I could never do that. I have a lot I want to accomplish, and the talent and confidence to see these plans through - I think this sets me apart and shows that I am truly passionate about my life. <b>Worst Trait:</b> Probably my selfishness. I have been frustrated by the failings of those around me for so long that I don't even bother trying to make friends anymore. Men want to love you and leave you (they can't have me), women need someone to hold their hand because they're too fragile to face life on their own (but they'll also leave you as soon as they find a nice strong man). I'm just disgusted by this whole cycle, and until they shape up, I'm perfectly content without them. I am hoping it's just a Rich Southern Californian trend, and that if I get out of here someday, people will be better. We'll see. I thought that was so clever. I probably wouldn't want to exploit them or anything, I'd just want to know what they were <I>really</i> like. It'd be fascinating. So yeah - an animal that people wouldn't be shocked to see in real life. It'd be tough to be an inconspicuous platypus, yes? Although, I could always just steal Harry Potter's invisibility cloak or something. It's not necessarily <I>essential</i> that my Animagus be able to blend in, because I'm sure I could come up with a clever witchy way of being unseen in my human form. <b>Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth</b> Earth! Water makes me nervous and claustrophobic, and I'd feel a little too vulnerable in the air. Give me clean, sweet earth. You can appreciate the waters <I>and</i> the skies while resting on the earth. It's clearly the best. <b>Warm or cool? </b> Cool, definitely. I can't stand the heat. I look forward to the day when I can move out here to a cleaner, cooler, wetter environment. (zomg Seattle). <b>Morning or evening?</b> Eep...no preference on this, I suppose. As long as it's not an uncomfortable temperature, I don't mind the sunshine, or the darkness. I suppose my favorite would be dusk or dawn - I love it when it's light enough to see the world, but not glaringly bright. Brightness is yucky. I suppose you're asking this to find out if I'd want to be a nocturnal animal - the answer is no. I'd like to sleep during the night, just like I do now. <b>Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner?</b> Definitely more of a loner, as I said earlier. People irritate me. I don't put up with stupidity or ignorance at all, and combine that with my unfortunate habit of judging people almost immediately - I rarely meet anyone that I am genuinely interested in spending time with. I don't understand why everyone is so desperately needy and clingy all of the time. There are one or two people I care about, of course, but I keep them at an arm's length. They ones who matter know that I need my space, and they respect that. I'm just honestly much more happy and content being by myself, working on my own projects. People get in the way of that. Why meet friends for coffee, to politely ask about their lives (when I clearly don't care), rather than doing something productive, or at least pleasant? Finishing a sewing project, writing an essay for class, or if I have <I>nothing</i> else to do, curling up and reading some Snape/Hermione fanfiction? XD

<b>Please give an accurate description of your appearance; pictures are welcome!</b> I honestly don't have a picture of myself on my computer where I'm not wearing a costume, so I'll have to show you some of those. Lots of wigs and color contacts might fool you - my actual hair is long and brown, and my eyes are brown as well. I'm somewhat short, 5'3, and a normal weight. I have a broken nose. People say I look like a mix of Liam Neeson and Natalie Portman. So, if Qui-Gon and Padme had a baby...that'd be me. I also personally think I look like Snape and Hermione's baby. I've got Snape's paleness and sharp features, along with his deformed nose, but I've got Hermione's hair, eyes, and body type. I think it's obvious that I've thought way too much about this, so I'm going to stop. >.> <b>What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities?</b> Cosplaying! I thought for a long time that sewing was a passion of mine, but I've finally accepted the fact that I like <I>wearing</i> the costumes, but not necessarily making them. I work very hard on them, because it's always worth it, when we get to violently can-can at Anime Expo, or whatever. My favorite part of cosplay is making a costume better than anyone else, to tell you the truth. I'm always vigrously searching the Internet for other cosplayers who have done similar costumes, and triumphantly declaring that their fabric choice was entirely wrong, and that they used the wrong size buttons, or whatever. Cosplay is a very small pond, and it's easy to become a big fish, as it were. A big, proud, fabulous fish. I get a lot of pleasure out of doing my best, and having everyone know it. That might be bad, but it's the truth. Other hobbies - I also love to read, and to write. I'm an English major, so mostly I just read what is required of me. I cram in as much as I can on the side, though. I've had a dry spell on writing for the last few years (since cosplay has started monopolozing my time), but I keep a list of my ideas, and I plan to make that my career eventually. Holed up in a room somewhere writing, and having people love me...<I>that</i> is the life. I want to be JK Rowling, I suppose. XD My practical plan is to finish school and get my Ph.D., and be a university professor, in case you were concerned about my future financial situation. What was the question? Hobbies? Well between cosplay, school, and my job, I obviously don't have time for anything else. It would be travel, though. I want to see everything. <b>Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with?</b> Um...trees? I guess I can't be a tree. I absolutely adore big, huge, ancient trees, especially oaks and sequoia Redwoods. Probably one of the most introspective moments of my life was spent sobbing my heart out to a sequoia tree named King Solomon at my old summer camp. Those were the days. But I think that's a little too much information. >.> Anyway, I would probably prefer an animal that also appreciated trees, either living in them, or living near them, or whatever. <b>Are there any animals you are afraid of?</b> I'm absolutely <I>petrified</i> of snails. The boys at the bus stop used to throw them at me and I think it traumatized me. I literally burst into tears if I step on one - and I'm not a sissy. I almost threw up while watching an episode of <I>Fear Factor</i> where they had to eat garden snails. That is just...ugh. So wrong. Bring on the Hungarian Nine-Toothed Antelope Fetus or whatever, but don't ask me to eat a snail. As for other animals, of course I'm a reasonable person - if any big, mean animal started running towards me, I'd probably be scared. Unless I had a big gun. But wait - being a pacifist and an environmentalist, I would be morally obliged to let the animal maul me rather than shoot it. Dang.

<b>Why would you like to be an animagus?</b> While I don't necessarily feel a connection to the animal world, I do have a deep connection with nature and plant life. Clean air, big trees, and a curtain of stars are a huge part of my existance. I would love to be an animal so that I could more fully appreciate the beauty of the world. It's hard to make time to get up, drive out to the country, and sit under a tree. Somehow I think if I could transform into an animal this wouldn't be such a chore. There is also the practical reasons - transportation, eavesdropping incognito, whatever. Same reason anyone else would want to be an Animagus, I suppose. It's worth learning. If I decided I didn't like being an animal, well then I wouldn't transform very often! So don't make me a werewolf, but other than that, bring it on.

<b>House:</b> Hufflepuff <b>Best Trait:</b> My bleeding liberal heart and capacity to love even the most unlovable of people. (Seriously, two of my favorite characters in HP are Dudley Dursley and Peter Pettigrew. I can't for the life of me tell you why, I just love them unconditionally.) <b>Worst Trait:</b> Probably the fact that I can be really stubborn when I want to be. I hate to be wrong, so I will argue until I'm blue in the face to not be, even when my rational side is going "shut up, you're wrong, get over it." <b>What would you want your animal form to be most capable of?</b> Hmmm...I'm not sure. Maybe something that is capable of comforting people or soothing them. Like I've heard that people take their pets into nursing homes or whatever and let the elderly play with them and studies have shown that this somehow helps the patients. Other than that, I write my own stories as well as fanfiction, make graphics and fanvideos, and other such things. I've always had this weird thing with cats where I've felt like they could understand what I was thinking. They just have this way of looking at you with those big ole eyes and staring straight into your soul. Also, when I first got my cat, Bells, she was a kitten who'd been abandoned by her mommy. She was really young and stuff and for some reason, she never meowed. I thought it was weird to not have a meowing cat, so I would sit and meow around her for a few hours each day until eventually she started mimicking me so that she now meows all the time. It's weird, I can be thinking "Bells, go over there" and then I'll make a meowing sound at her, and she goes exactly where I was thinking for her to. It's like she understands. So um...yeah, long story short: cats! <b>Are there any animals you are afraid of?</b> Yes! Snakes, spiders, bugs in general, butterflies (they're scary, shut up!), basically anything that's all crawly and creepy and other such things. <b>Why would you like to be an animagus?</b> I think it'd be really cool, and the power to change into an animal is dead useful as we've seen from the books.

<b>House:</b> Hufflepuff <b>Best Trait:</b> I would have to say my loyalty (I'm not in Hufflepuff for nothing heh). Now, I am not loyal to the point where I would stick around with someone who is treating me like yesterday's garbage, but when I am close to people I feel a very strong bond, and I am absolutely devastated when it is broken. I don't take these bonds lightly. I'm dependable and trustworthy; I can keep your secrets. Betrayal and backstabbing are the worst things one could ever do to me, so I most certainly would not do it to anyone else. Loyalty and trust go hand in hand with me. I'm just one of those people who likes to have a very few close friends more than lots of not-so-close acquaintances who have no real loyalties or strong bonds. If the bond of trust is broken it would be incredibly difficult to get it back. It can take a lifetime to earn trust, but a second to break it. <b>Worst Trait:</b> Meh, my shyness, as well as extreme introversion for sure. It makes it really hard for me to talk to people and feel comfortable around them and I have trouble being very social when I need to be. I don't really have a desire to be particularly social, as long as I have a couple close friends somewhere, but it is a rather social world. Being online makes it easier because there's more links to people who are similar to you, and I'm better in written communication than verbal. <b>What would you want your animal form to be most capable of?</b> I don't want my animal form to be aggressive without reason, but strong enough to effectively defend itself should it need to. A certain amount of stealth would be nice too, simply to get around without attracting much notice. It doesn't really have to blend in with the surroundings, maybe just be kind of light-footed. <b>Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth</b> Hm. I do love small lakes, at least being on the shoreline. I am not a deep water person and even then I really have a need to see the bottom, so as such I will only go in water over my head in a swimming pool, though I generally prefer to be able to actually touch the bottom. Of course, as far as deep water in lakes and such go, I have this irrational uh, fear? I guess where I don't want slimy seaweed touching me (don't laugh at me :P). It really grosses me out. I do like canoeing, though, so as long as I'm on top of the water I'm happy. I also like wading in small creeks and streams, but not very fond of bigger bodies of water except perhaps to look at. I'm not a very strong swimmer, though I am capable of it. As for Air, I would find it really awesome to be able to fly as that has got to be a very strong sense of freedom, and a good observation post to watch the world as I do enjoy observing. I do like going on airplanes, but I don't really feel a connection to the air as strong of a sense as other things, although I am connected strongly to that aspect of freedom. Therefore, overall, I would pick Earth because I love mountains and foresty areas more than anything. That sense of freedom I don't need to get from flying, I can for instance find it standing near the edge of a high cliff edge or being high on a mountain staring out at the vast world around me. That's really a very spiritual experience for me I guess you could say. One of my favorite places in the world is Adirondack Mountains for the hiking in the woods, canoeing, and the night skies are absolutely stunning up there. So are the Autumns when the leaves are changing. I really feel truly at one with nature and a certain sense of inner peace when I am doing those things, so I would definitely have to say Earth. I guess it's because I like tranquility, and taking life slow. I tend to get to feeling that life enjoys pushing me around and everyone is always in a rush and I get swept up in the crowd, whereas being in the Adirondack's or places similar gets me away from all that. It doesn't necessarily have to be there, as long as wherever I am is tranquil, but it's the best for me in the mountains and forests in places like that where it basically is away from the hearts of big cities and such.

<b>Warm or cool? </b> Oh definitely cool. I loathe being too hot; I always have trouble sleeping in the summer if it's too hot for me and I am generally uncomfortable all around. I can't handle extreme heat, but can deal with freezing cold a lot better. Conversely from sleeping in the summer, I sleep REALLY good if I'm cold; I get very comfortable being snuggled under the blankets. The only time I can't stand cold is when there's an annoying wind that stings you every time it blows. Heat just makes me cranky heh. I'm happiest most in Autumn and Winter, except for the wind issue. Windstorms make me uneasy (though things like thunderstorms don’t bother me). The only time I like wind is when it's a gentle breeze on a warm day, since it makes the heat more bearable. <b>Morning or evening?</b> I am a total night owl. I have the most energy at night and I generally like the solitude and peacefulness of it. The night sky is something I also completely enjoy just to stare at in wonderment, from the moon, the stars and just the vastness of it all. As I said in the previous question, it gives me a sense of inner peace and tranquility. I just love the sense of wonderment and imagination of what lies beyond. I like to think there's other civilizations out there somewhere, because in the relativity of it all, we are actually a very lonely planet if we are the only civilized life forms in the whole entire universe. It just seems too big! Nature in general is sacred to me and is a large part of my personal spirituality, but the night time is the greatest. <b>Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner?</b> Definitely more of a loner, though I do like to have a couple of very close friends who mean the world to me. They would have to be understanding, however, that I relish my alone time a great deal. If I'm around people too long I get rather worn out. I really don't like crowds, parties or giant social gatherings. I suppose what's ironic is my worst fear is of being alone, too. That's my introversion thing I talked about in my worst trait. As a whole I don’t find a bad thing, but I just have too much of it. Then I'm shy on top of that, so I'm just fairly anxious all around with social things. This is why I love animal companions also, I can have friendly companions who I absolutely love and not feel the drain I can get from people. <b>Please give an accurate description of your appearance; pictures are welcome!</b> I'm on the tomboyish side, and like to be low maintenance, so I keep my hair (which is dirty blonde) pretty short, like just before or at around shoulder length, and just simply like to wear casual clothes. My hair gets a little on the fluffy side which is annoying, though fortunately not so bushy like Hermione's heh. It's slightly on the wavy side. I'm 5'10" and weigh about 140 lbs. I'm pretty tall and fairly skinny to average I guess. I never wear make-up and hate wearing dresses and stuff like that. My eyes are grey-blue, and I wear glasses. Unfortunately I'm basically blind as a bat without them. <b>What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities?</b> Haha, I'm on the computer way too much though I do a variety of things. Sometimes I chat with a online friends or my RL best friend, I like playing around with graphics, writing, web browsing (for entertainment as well as for learning new things), playing PC RPG games. Listening to music is a BIG thing. I also enjoy reading, and I'm a big daydreamer and live inside my head. Not to sound blasphemous but LOTR is my number one fandom (HP is #2) so I obsess over that a lot heh. I'm not really a big external excitement seeker because my imagination works wonders. When it's nice out I like to grab some music to listen to with headphones and just wander aimlessly. Though I don't really get to do it at this point in my life at least for the time being, I always have enjoyed camping (our family vacations were in the Adirondack's which is how my love for them really grew).

<b>Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with?</b> Oh I've always felt a connection to wolves. I like how their packs are a very strong bond, and their teamwork with each other is exceptional, not to mention essential to their survival. Unity and unbreakable bonds of fellowship really appeal to me. Also, like a wolf, it's very easy to misunderstand me at first glance. Wolves have always been portrayed as man eating beasts in stories and things, but they actually in general are very shy of humans. They have gotten into livestock before which perhaps helps to mark them as vicious, but they are just hunters, that's how they eat. On my part, because I am so shy and introverted and therefore very quiet, I have been misunderstood as unfriendly and antisocial before, when I'm really not. Once I'm comfortable and you become my "packmate" of sorts I'm able to let go more. The Native Americans saw wolves as wise creatures and that's how I see them, and what I strive to be. They are protective of their loved ones to the death, and I'd give my life for my loved ones also. They are territorial, I also like my space and don't like invasion of privacy or my space being taken up. <b>Are there any animals you are afraid of?</b> I don’t like being near anything that can sting me like bees, wasps, and the like. I do hate things that can crawl on me while I'm unaware but I’m not exactly “afraid” of them. Spiders worst of all. If I know where they are and can see them I don't fear them. But this one time I was outside and this small, black spider fell from a tree on to my shoulder which basically sent me into a panic heh. I flicked it off while letting out a scream and ran as fast as I could back into the house. I guess it's just a fear of being taken by surprise by crawly things. Something about that just freaks me out. Weirdly a giant spider that can't crawl on me would scare me less than something tiny that couldn't really hurt anything and fell out of nowhere on me. I just hate spiders the most because they're the things that will most likely come out of nowhere because they're such good acrobats of sorts with their webbing. Although I've had a few incidents with inch worms hanging from trees, too. It really might be a similar feeling to the weird seaweed thing I have going on, because that kind of weird creepy skin crawly feeling just is... ewwwww. <b>Why would you like to be an animagus?</b> I think it would be the coolest thing ever getting to experience the world through the eyes of another creature. I always wish that I could stare at the world with other peoples' eyes just to see what they see and experience what they experience and see how it's different than my own, and I'd love to do that with animals, too. It's got to be a very interesting perception, and I think seeing with other perceptions can help make a person a more well-rounded individual and be that much more open-minded with the world. I often wonder also, when it comes down to what kind of music people like, how everyone can hear the same song so differently. I mean, one person can absolutely love a song while the person next to them rather smash the stereo heh. I am wildly curious about things like that, so yes, being an animagus appeals to me in that sense. There's also the fact I'll be even closer to nature in animal form. And as I said, nature is sacred to me and a strong part of my personal spirituality.

<b>House:</b> Ravenclaw <b>Best Trait:</b> I’m my own person. I wish I could say that I didn’t care what other people thought of me, but even if I do, I don’t let that really dictate how I live my life. As recent college graduate, I can tell you that I was not like most students at my school. I never drank or went to parties because that was the cool thing to do. I never cared about being cool, and I rarely do anything so people will like me. <b>Worst Trait:</b> I’m not sure if this is a trait, but I procrastinate. It’s not even the trait that I have which bothers me the most, but it’s the trait that has hurt me a lot in the past. I don’t know how many times I got all stressed out staying up until wee hours of the morning because I left everything up to the last minute. It’s not good! I guess part of the reason that I procrastinate is because I overestimate my abilities or I underestimate the assignment. For example, I would predict that an assignment would take me an hour to do, so I’ll wait thinking that I can get it done in an hour, which would be no big deal. Instead, it might take me more than two hours. <b>What would you want your animal form to be most capable of?</b> I have always wished that I could be around people observing them but not being noticed, so I would like my animal form to be able to blend into the environment easily and be considered unobtrusive, so that people will pay little attention to me. This would give me the opportunity to watch and listen to the world around me secretly. <b>Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth</b> I love water and the various bodies of water. My mom has a condo near the beach, and I always love to watch the waves going up and down and up and down with that crashing sound that never go away. Water is such a mysterious substance. It can be fluid and gentle, able to provide relief for a thirst person, but it can also be dangerous, drowning a person. I read somewhere that drowning was even a worst way to die than being burned alive. I don’t know if that’s true, but it still shows how deadly and powerful water can be. Water is persistence also as it weathers away the rocks over years. <b>Warm or cool? </b> I like to be warm but not hot. There’s nothing better than relaxing on a warm spring or fall day. But, honestly, the reason is more of a practical one, since I have a tendency to get cold quite easily, and sometimes when I get cold, I get sick, which is obviously not good. Besides, warm whether means you can wear less clothes, and even though I like winter clothes more, it’s a pain having to put on a million layers of clothes before going out. <b>Morning or evening?</b> Evening! I don’t really know why, but I’m such a night owl. Whenever I don’t have anywhere to go the next day, I can stay up until 6 in the morning, and then wakeup at 3 in the afternoon. It’s a bit strange going to sleep as the sun is rising. I guess this is because there is such a solitude and stillness at night. As everyone in my family goes to the sleep, the hours afterwards become my always cherished “me” time. It is the time where I am alone with my thoughts and doing the things that I want to do. <b>Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner?</b> I’m such a loner. People irritate me. They really do. I mean I like people in the sense that I want everyone to have a good life and not be sick or hungry or hurt. But I do not want to socialize with people. I sometimes like to socialize with people on the internet, but that’s because I can decide when I want to comment on a post or reply to an email.

Since the other person can’t see me, I don’t have to nod my head and actually look like I find what they’re saying to be interesting. I’m not a bitch. Honest, I’m not. I just prefer my own company.
Please give an accurate description of your appearance; pictures are welcome! I’m pretty short: 5’4’’ and I’m slightly overweight though not fat, in my opinion (my clothes size ranges from size 10-14). I have hazel eyes and brown, Hermione-like hair. I have a round face, an upturned nose, and big lips (like Angelina Jolie’s but slightly smaller). I love my lips. I’m not tanned, but I’m not extremely pale either. I don’t think I’m attractive, but I don’t have to look at myself in the mirror all the time either.
What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities? I like to read and go on the internet, and I like to do research. I often go through phases where I would be interested in this thing or that thing, and then I would go and read and find information on that topic. My latest interests are birds, especially cardinals. They make such a gorgeous sound in case you didn’t know. I also like to listen to music and daydream. I’m afraid I think more about my made up world and the characters and their lives than I do about myself and the real world.
Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with? I love cats and snakes. I think my love affair started because they had such a negative connotation. I especially like black cats, since they are associated with bad luck, and every time I would see one, I would be extremely happy. Cats are such gorgeous creatures, and the way they possess you as they rub against you is very beautiful. And I always feel honored when one lets me pet him or her. I also loved snakes ever since I heard about the garden of Eden. I think I’m one of the few people out there, who actually find some snakes to be cute. I remember two years ago going to the museum with my mom and older brother, and there was a small glass display of snakes there. You would have thought they were bunnies considering the way I acted: “Awww. They are so cuuute.” I love the way they move. It’s so erotic.
Are there any animals you are afraid of? Well, I would not want to be a bear or a tiger or a lion or any other animal that can kill and eat me in the wilderness. However, I am terrified of roaches. In the last house I lived in, I saw roaches couple of times there. After I saw one once, I was practically paranoid checking under the bed and in the bed and around the bed before I went to sleep. Why do I detest them this much? Because they are big, and they are nasty, and there was one apartment where I lived in, which practically every evening, they were everywhere. There would be about at least ten—if not more—on the kitchen wall, scurrying around, with their huge antennas. They all need to die.
Why would you like to be an animagus? An animagus form provides one with a mask—an ability to go about the world unnoticed. People do not believe animals are intelligent, so they tend to do and say things in front of animals that they would not in front of either people. By turning into an animal, I know how people really are. I would be able to explore and know and understand without any obstrusion.

Best Trait: I believe my best trait would be my determination; I never stop unless I achieve what I have in mind. I always push myself to the limit to see what I'm capable of and I never back down easily. Even when people think I can't possibly achieve whatever it is I want, I'd keep on going. I like feeling superior and doing things not many can.
Worst Trait: My worst trait would have to be my egotism. I basically can't get enough of myself. I don't really think it's bad but most people around me hate it. I never really bother about anyone else and would always have my best interests in mind. I'd never do anything if it didn't benifit me. I'll always be walking around as though I own this world. Whenever I accomplish something, I would always boast about it even if it totally sucked.
What would you want your animal form to be most capable of? I would want it to be really strong and independant with stealth and speed being it's top traits. I would want to roam around knowing I can protect myself and get away with things without being noticed -- and if it ever got noticed, I'd want to run away real fast so I don't get caught. I'd also want to be strong so I wouldn't have to rely on anyone to do the job.
Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth I'll choose Earth. Both air and water aren't appealing to me and I'd really like to get in touch with my natural side.
Warm or cool? I definitely prefer cool. When you're cold, you can always wear more to get warm but when you're warm, you can't really do anything about it but get naked. And even if you don't wear much on hot days, there's always the humidity and smell.
Morning or evening? Evening. I love the night sky; it makes me really feel good. I don't mind morning but I dislike them for some reason. Most people are in bad moods in the morning but more relaxed in the evening. Anyway, there's something that happens in the atmosphere when the sun sets and I like the feeling of it. I don't know how to describe it though.
Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner? A healthy amount of both is necessary but being alone is pretty good. I absolutely love my room and I could stay alone in it all day long. Most people hate being alone but I don't mind the feeling of it. Myself is the best company I could ever have.

What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities? I am totally in love with books so I read most of the time. I also enjoy playing sport and I'm currently the captain of our soccer and basketball team. I also like learning history, writing, art projects, drawing, watching movies and listening to a lot of rap, hip hop and R&B music. Oh, and I must not forget, I spend a lot of time on LJ and I think I'm quite addicted to it. I also enjoy learning about the computers, well all kinds of technology really.
Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with? I feel quite drawn to cheetahs and leopards. The cheetahs are absolutely wonderful, being such fast and lethal creatures. I would love to have either of them as pets, it would be fantastic.
Are there any animals you are afraid of? I loathe spiders and any sort of bugs. I guess they're not animals though, are they? Well, I dislike dogs very much and I'm really afraid of sharks. They are cool but the thought of being chewed by their sharp teeth sends shivers down my spine. Oh and I also hate frogs and monkeys!

Why would you like to be an animagus? As I said, I'm quite determined and being an Animagus has a lot of work in it. No one can just decide to become an Animagus and expect to be it the next day. It takes a lot of determination and once you've accomplished it, you'll probably feel as though there is nothing you can't do. And that is just an amazing feeling. I want to prove it to myself.
