DIVINATION CLUB: Term XXII, Activity 2 - Teabags & Testimonials

You are trying to do an assignment about tea leaf readings, but as everybody has come up with the same idea, you notice the school supplies are running dangerously low. You instead have to settle for nettle tea. A friend, who is busy with Potions homework- asks you what it tastes like, and is curious if any of the nettle properties have made their way into the prediction. Intrigued with this idea, you thumb through an old copy of the Daily Prophet, and find an advertisement for unusual brands of tea. Tempted, you go to the Owlery to order a set to your common room.

Activity: Teabags & Testimonies
Points: 10pts for opening submission; 2 points for responses.
Deadline: 30th January @ 11:59PM UTC.
Details: The tea leaves have run out! The brand we usually use is out of stock, so we're going to buy some more. Design the packaging to a new box of tea for 10pts, and for 2pts add testimonials from satisfied customers.

Here's the rundown:

  • Please design an eye-catching packaging for a new brand of tea. It can be any sort of tea, regular, herbal, fruit, fusion, wizarding, whatever you please!
  • 10 points for doing so. Please make sure the graphic isn't more than 800px in combined dimension.
  • Freel free to make more than one if you enjoy this, but you'll only get the 10pts once.

  • Following on, other people please reply with short testimonies about how this brand of tea is the best you've ever tasted, and how it's way superior to whatever you drank before!
  • These don't have to be very long, and will be worth 2 points apiece. Fifty words (ish) should cover it. You may only hit a max of 20 pts for this part, so to hit the cap of 30 for this activity, you need to do both.
  • We want to be buying the best brand of tea on the market, so make sure these testimonies really motivate our shoppers to convert to it for keepsies! Satisfied customers are always a good indicator of a product, not matter how.... flowery their descriptions might become.

  • That's the bare bones of it. If you'd like to make something more detailed and magic-based, that's awesome, too (what would tea with an infusion of dried unicorn blood be like, for example?) Feel free to use any resources you like.... or just go for things that sound tasty. It's all good. :D

Usual reminder about the Roster: there's no grace periods with this, so make sure you're on it! The roster is below.

Also, I'll be starting up a nice thread that offers resources, should anyone wish to use them. These can be anything you like- bases, inspiration from real packaging, even ingredient combinations, or magical properties thereof. I figured it may be useful, though of course there won't be points from it. :)

That's it! Have fun! The results of the 2012 Predictions will be up later today or tomorrow. :)

The future will look bleak if you forget to sign the ROSTER!

I've got some examples of packaging. They're quite contemporary, but it shows there isn't really a stereotype you have to follow.

One of the best I've ever tasted! Cures most ailments, highly recommended to those who tend to suffer bumps and bruises. It is also very delicious. Thanks to this tea, I learned to survive after burning myself. Have, however, developed a mild taste for brains, just thought I'd warn you.

This tea is amazing! Its blend of spices is subtly refreshing, with an aroma that brings to mind the scent of dew evaporating on the desert sands. The addition of real phoenix tears makes this the perfect pick-me-up brew, excellent for those little aches and pains. Highly recommended!

This tea is so restorative it will have you bursting into flames only to rise again from the ashes! I use it once a week, and I have never been so healthy. Or warm.

This tea made me actually LIKE tea! I generally hate it and this brand is just so magical and amazing that I didn't realize I was even drinking tea. I thought my husband had applied magic to water to create this amazingly soothing blend. Imagine my surprise when he told me it was Phoenix Tea that had me so carefree!

"This tea is fantastic! The sprinkling of star dust in with the tea leaves really adds a certain extra je ne sais quoi. I recommended it with all my friends and they reported back that their divination predictions with this brand was even more accurate than normal. Recommended to the amateur diviner in your life!"

Very magical brand of tea, although I am sure you have gotten that from the cover already. it is truly one of a kind--reminds me of the time I was star-gazing and five specks of flying children went past. Very calming, brings everything into perspective for me. Recommended specifically for those who appreciate a good thought every now and then.

This is simply the best tea for Divination that I have ever tried! In my experience, the leaves are accurate in over ninety percent of cases, with the success rate even higher for children and wizards with red hair. In addition, the tea itself has a crisp, refreshing taste, with subtle citrus and floral flavours. Definitely one to try!

I LOVE this tea! My predictions have never come easily, but with this tea they just trip off the tongue. Not one customer complaint in the 6 months since I switched to this tea! I will never go back.

A great tea for those that have just started dabbling in the tricky art of Divination! It does a great job of clearing your head, essential if you want to make accurate predictions. Just one sip and you'll lose yourself in the stars! Drink this Madame Merryweather's Magical Tea and amaze your friends!

"This tea has a subtle but rich taste that will enthrall you. Unlike the plant that it is named for, this tea certainly does not strangle or harm in the slightest. This tea has a substantial body to it with a pleasing briskness. The slight bitterness woke me right up! Highly recommended for a morning drinker."

Such a sweet and perfectly relaxing flavor! I do believe it's one of the best tasting I've ever had the pleasure to try. It has a mellow flavor--nothing too overpowering nor too subtle--and the most fragrant smell to soothe the senses. In fact, just inhaling its scent is enough! Not many teas can claim that, can they?

"This tea changes color with your mood! I didn't believe it at first, but after the tea turned from a pretty, shimmery blue to a fire red after my mum sent me a Howler for not calling her in a week, I was converted. It also gave me hallucinations I think? WHATEVER IT WAS AWESOME!"

"This tea is glorious! I have recommended it to all the Ravenclaw alumni in my acquaintance. You'll feel like Rowena Ravenclaw herself with her diadem of wisdom after you've had a cup of this tea. It's perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up or even first thing in the morning. Recommended for anyone who wants to feel smarter!"

This tea is out of this world! I had such trouble sleeping before I started drinking this, and now I fall asleep right away! More than that, I always seem to get the most rest as well, and the best of dreams. I highly recommend this tea for anyone with sleeping problems--it's better than any Draught you can ever brew.

Better than pixie dust! I felt like I was floating on air after sipping this heavenly tea (and for five minutes I actually was--it's a good thing I drank this indoors, and managed to hover above my bed instead of a harder surface) and I recommend this for everyone who wishes to have that feeling of lightness like a feather.

I don't know who Cholmondley is, but I owe him for taking me out of the dreary confines of your typical English teas. This tea brews so well, somehow capturing the flavor even long past the recommended time of brewing! This is helpful because I tend to forget so many things, you see, and the fact that this tea lasts past steeping minutes is fantastic. Beyond that, the flavor is rich, the aroma excellent, the tea leaves REALLY loose!

A perfect pick-me-up and ideal for lovers of more stronger tastes. It is of the rarer variety, and very difficult to find because whilst it lends the drinker surprisingly strength and dexterity, more than one cup a day causes acerbic tendencies in the consumer. It's worth the price however, and I recommend it to anyone in Slytherin who enjoys the more avant-garde varieties.

This tea does exactly what it sets out to do-put you to sleep! It has a nice soothing flavor that makes you feel all warm and cozy inside. Within minutes I was dozing off in my easy chair! Highly recommended for those with trouble sleeping, or for those that just enjoy a nice warm tea. Miss Delivera's knows their stuff!
