DIVINATION CLUB: Term XXI, Activity 5: Arcana Stamping

So you finally started learning about Tarot cards. You were instructed to memorize them as homework for a test tomorrow and (obviously) you didn't bother until the last minute. You sit with a friend taking it in turns to remember them all. It isn't until you see in her notes that she had annotated the Page Of Swords with "think of the Ravenclaws" that you come up with a strategy that makes learning them all so much easier...

Activity Arcana Stamping
Points Repetitive Activity: 2pts per comment, 30 max.
Deadline 27th November @ 11:59PM UTC
Details Fill out the short survey and find out which of the Major Tarot Arcana best represents you! 2pts per comment with a cap at 30pts!

This is a little like an activity that happened about 3 terms ago (according to my homework), but I'm going to put a slightly different spin on it. Here is a textbox:

Fill this out and submit it. Like all stampings, try to elaborate a little bit! Give folk something to latch on to!

Then the fun bit: you get to stamp each other (lolwhut i just typed 'spank') as one of the 22 Major Arcana. But because I don't expect you to know these automatically, and it's a lot of researching if you don't, I'm offering up these handy cheat sheets!

    00) The Fool - Naïve and trusting. Takes gambles and risks, likes adventure. Artistic and carefree, lives for the moment.

    01) The Magician - Power of charisma. Conscious creativity. Taking initative, a skilled mentor.

    02) The High Priestess - The head ruling the heart. Spiritual, unconsciously creative. Quiet knowledge.

    03) The Empress - Abundant and happy. Successful and affluent. Fertility- literal or metaphorical. Maternal.

    04) The Emperor - Authoritative, strong and confident. Paternal and controlling. A natural leader.

    05) The Heirophant - Educated, likes to develop the self. Committed and dedicated. Fairly conservative.

    06) The Lovers - Social, full of passion and energy. Tries to please everyone. The heart ruling the head.

    07) The Chariot - Confident and full of swagger. Focused and dedicated. Takes responsibility, motivation, energy.

    08) Strength - Patient, composed, with a core of steel. Doesn't give up easily. Mental or emotional strength.

    09) The Hermit - Introspected, and detached from distractions. Seeks wisdom and knowledge from within.

    10) Wheel of Fortune - Often affected by external factors. Recipient of balanced fate. Plays the long game.

    11) Justice - Logical, often cold cerebral realism. Impartial, objective and clever. Good at decision making.

    12) Hanged Man - Self-sacrificing, puts others first. Passive and submissive. An inactive, 'hakuna matata' mindset.

    13) Death - Self-improving, likes to keep moving. Doesn't let sentimentality obstruct progress. Open to new things.

    14) Temperance - Lives a balanced life. Can integrate new things into life efficiently. Open to new things.

    15) The Devil - Hedonistic, materialistic. Chained down by a lot of pressure. Can be closed to new experiences.

    16) The Tower - Chaotic, capricious and heavy-handed. Expects the unexpected. Energetic but self-sabotaging.

    17) The Star - Zen-like inner calm. Optimistic and joyful, generous and trusting. Likely to succeed in the long run.

    18) The Moon - The worrier. Fears the unknown, prone to pessimism and anxiety. An excellent imagination.

    19) The Sun - Optimistic and full of vitality. Enthusiastic, free-spirited and self-motivated. Bright and happy.

    20) Judgment - Forgiving and introspective. Doesn't rush into things, rational, the head ruling the heart.

    21) The World - Maturity. Starting life over. Fulfillment and self-actualisation. Well-connected. Lives for the moment.

These might not be exactly what the cards mean, but they're reasonable enough to be getting on with. EDIT! I've added a supplementary thread here in case any of you HiHers want to add your own interpretations of the above 22 options to the mix. They won't get you points, but extra opinions are welcomed and invited. Check the thread out, and contribute if you want to do so. :)

REMEMBER! There's no such thing as a "good" card or a "bad" card, per se: even the pleasant-sounding ones have bad traits attached to them, while the awful-sounding ones can carry wisdom and stuff, too. So don't be afraid of the ;)

If possible, try to give a little bit of reasoning as to why. But this isn't something I'm enforcing; it's just nice for the stampee to know why sometimes :)

One thing I will enforce, though: You must score at least 10 points to get item bonuses. That's just five comments. Fair's fair, right?

I'm not really a graphics kinda guy.... but if I'm feeling up to it I miiiight try to make sigtags for people reflecting their stamps. Possibly..

The future will look bleak if you forget to sign the ROSTER!

I like to spend my free time - Behind my laptop, mostly reading fanfics or playing the sims haha. I draw, I go to the cinema, I cycle, read some classics and drink ridiculous amounts of tea :) Visit my nieces and teach them how to draw, bother my brother and talk and talk and talk with my bff haha XD

If I could change one thing in my life, it would be - I would like to have the confidence that I in myself that I have now, ten years ago. It took me ages to have confidence in my own intellect and abilities and my education suffered a great deal because of it. I've never managed to overcome that bias for education and that still saddens me sometimes because I know I can do so much more.

My ideal home would be - In a small town, that's small enough for people to know each other and trust each other, and big enough to have it's own train/bus station and preferably a uni or something. I'd like a cosy kinda small home somewhere close to the centre of town. I don't really care for a garden since I'm not fond of gardening haha :P

Compared to my childhood, I am now more - Balanced. I used to be rather emotional at times and I managed to overcome most of my issues to become a more emotionally balanced person. I used to be pretty demanding of others as well, I'm now a lot more independent instead.

One thing I'm proud of right now is - I graduated at a Uni abroad and got my BA degree in a single year. Without any support of my parents or anyone else. It's the one thing I did all by myself and it's something that I'll be proud of for the rest of my life :)

My opinion of kids is - they can be all little angels if well governed. I love my little baby & toddler cousins and I adore playing with them. Kids are rather fond of me as well, even kids that have just met me are easy to trust me and I find it easy to make em smile. However, some kids are just little horrors and I never blame the kids, they're just copy-cats, it's usually just careless parents that can't be bothered to discipline them.

I respond to the unexpected by - analyze what's the best course of action. In an emergency I consider whether I can help out or if my involvement would be a bother. When emotions are involved I try to rationalize them and don't take in account whether I am bothered by it. I find it important to behave like an civilized adult and respond in kind. Especially when people older then me behave like a bratty brat and are making a scene.

I respond to pressure by - analyzing where to begin to ease the burden. If I'm already working as hard as I can, I then make a list of what's most important and start on that asap. You can't tell by my demeanor whether I'm stressed or not (because I find it important to keep my calm about me) but you can tell because I'll be vaguely humming a song under my breath. I'm usually not aware of it either XD

Two things that matter to me are - perseverance and kindness. I don't care if you lie to me, do it because you care for me. Be as desperate and down as you can be, but be realistic enough that it's not the end and moving forward is the only answer. At all times I try very hard to be a kind person and to be kind towards myself. I find my own inner strength maybe not the most obvious one but the one that makes me want to live.

If I had one superpower, it would be - to move and control water XD I could fix hangovers in a jiffy and I could swim without moving a muscle XD Aaaah the possibilities are endless XD

A lot of the cards could fit you but I'm picking Strength. <3

I have to agree with Rob that Death is really fitting. It was mainly the bits about self-improvement and willingness to try new things (which I remembered from your name analysis, ha! XD)

In honor of this vote, I give you my icon of an actress personifying Death in a play! :D

Strength. I considered Death, but I think that requires for more a restless streak and I don't see it here, especially when you said your ideal home is in a small town. The other option was Strength, because you said you favoured perseverance, and kept calm under pressure. And because said you are balanced, which (as easy as it sounds) does actually take a lot of effort and dedication to not freak out and snap at others.

I think The Heirophant fits slightly better than Death. :)

Kind of hovering between Judgment (forgiving from the two things that matter to you, rational from how you'd respond to the unexpected/pressure) and Temperance (balanced from...almost everything lol), but I think Judgment would be more fitting!

Thanks for voting on mine, incidentally!
