Music Club: Genre Stamping (Term XXV Activity #01)

Activity: Genre Stamping
Points: 10pts for submitting an app, 2pts each per vote, 30pt cap.
Deadline: Tuesday, January 15th @ 21:59 UTC (timezone converter).
Details: Another stamping activity! This time we're doing music genre stamping; you all know how stamping works and this is just the same game as always; fill out an application, stamp and get stamped. You'll receive ten points for filling out the app (which means I do want you to put effort in this!) and two points for each vote with a cap of 30 points. Don't forget to sign your votes with your name&house!

Note: Always remember that this is just for fun. I'm sure that there is no one planning to insult anyone with stamping, so... Yeah, let's just try and have fun and don't take it all too seriously! ♥

Note 2: Please please please try to go and stamp other applications, especially if you have an application up yourself. It's just fair and I'd like to give people their stamps without feeling bad for so little votes at the end of this activity! ♥

List your top three positive and negative traits:
+Intelligence
+Creative
+Determined

-Overthinking things
-Worrying
-Socially awkward

An evil fairy pops up and curses you as a punishment for not inviting her to dinner; from now on you'll only be allowed to listen to one single genre of music for the rest of your life - which one is it? Ughhh...this is definitely a tossup between alternative/pop (or what I call "mostly ladies with pianos and sometimes other instruments," like Florence + the Machine, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Vienna Teng) and classical soundtracks to films (The Hobbit score, the 2005 Pride and Prejudice score, Bear McCreary's Battlestar Galactica score...) I would probably end up going with Florence, Tori, etc., but I guess that I could always cheat the fairy by actually going and watching those TV shows and films if I wanted to hear the music from them. *evil grin*

Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner? I probably forgot. Or I really don't like the fairy.

If you yould achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be? For me, I would love to publish a best-selling novel (or series of novels if I can cheat and throw that in there.)

You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose? Costume party! Or at least one where everybody wears something like a Venetian mask. (Tbh, I'm not big on big parties, but if I'm going to throw a theme party, it would be one of those two things. Because costume parties are fun.)

Do you have a favourite composer? Bear McCreary, Howard Shore; I really love some of Philip Glass's work (although it drives everyone around me nuts.)

Is there any music that you cannot stand at all? Most rap, metal, techno. There are a few artists whose voices I really don't like, either - Phil Collins, whoever's the lead singer of Sixpence None The Richer. (I also really, really loathe the song "Call Me Maybe.")

Anything else you'd like to say? Nope.

List your top three positive and negative traits: Positive: Friendly, smart, reliable. Negative: lazy, addictive personality, really bad at reading people.
An evil fairy pops up and curses you as a punishment for not inviting her to dinner; from now on you'll only be allowed to listen to one single genre of music for the rest of your life - which one is it? I was going to say ska, because it really is my favorite type of music, but if I'm only allowed one genre, I think maybe I'll have to go with classic rock, because it's broader, has more variety to it, so I'm less likely to get bored. (Plus, more artists in the genre in general. I'd go nuts only being allowed to listen to like the same 12 albums for the rest of my life.)
Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner? I don't invite ANYBODY to dinner because I can't cook. XD
If you yould achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be? Um. Financial stability, probably.
You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose? Renaissance!
Do you have a favourite composer? Not particularly. I don't listen to a lot of purely instrumental music.
Is there any music that you cannot stand at all? Most rap and hip-hop. (I need a MELODY to be able to sing along with, thanks.) Most country music. MARCHES. (John Phillip Sousa, I HATE YOU FOREVER AND EVER.)
Anything else you'd like to say? I really like music. Can't think of much else to say besides that.

Ooh, hmm. Probably pop, because it offers the most variety. Plus, who can resist a good dance beat.

Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner?
Probably because I get uncomfortable around strangers :(

If you yould achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be?
I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy...

You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose?
Masquerade! :D It's alluring yes, but also allows people to hide behind masks if they feel uncomfortable at parties.

Do you have a favourite composer?
It changes with the day just like 80% of my favorites but at the moment I am torn between Alan Menken and Johann Sebastian Bach. (yeah, I know lol.)

Is there any music that you cannot stand at all?
Uhhh, boring music? Or anything I don't ~~connect to when I'm listening to it.

Anything else you'd like to say?
I hope this is enough for you to stamp me!

An evil fairy pops up and curses you as a punishment for not inviting her to dinner; from now on you'll only be allowed to listen to one single genre of music for the rest of your life - which one is it? I would say Alternative Rock - I like a lot of those bands. You get some hard music and some soft music so you have a good variety.
Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner? I didn't realize she ate dinner.
If you could achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be? To make sure that my kids are happy and healthy and have a great future.
You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose? Probably some sort of fandom party, maybe a magic one or a Middle Earth kind of party.
Do you have a favourite composer? I guess either Beethoven or Bach - maybe Pachelbel
Is there any music that you cannot stand at all? Not really - i can listen to any kind of music and usually find something about it to love.

List your top three positive and negative traits:
Hopeful, loving, fun loving
lazy, procrastinating, contradictory (is that the right form of the word? and apparently bad at spelling and such)
An evil fairy pops up and curses you as a punishment for not inviting her to dinner; from now on you'll only be allowed to listen to one single genre of music for the rest of your life - which one is it? Movie Soundtracks. Ha! for all you other people, you no longer will be able to fully enjoy the movies you watch! I personally love movie soundtracks, they are what makes a movie amazing, and without them the whole feel of the movie is just off. The funny bit is that most people don't even notice the soundtrack, or the effect it has on them. Also, it is a very eclectic genre, and has a bit of everything in it, since movies vary quite a lot.
Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner? Ah, see the thing is, I wasn't even home that Monday night. I mean I was off at Disneyland and I wasn't even planning on eating because I wanted to go on Thunder Mountain, which you can't do on a full stomach, and then at the end of my trip I get home, and there she is just sitting on my kitchen table, fuming! I tell you, it was a bit of a shock walking in to find a very pissed fairy sitting on your table. Anyway, she goes on and on about not inviting her to dinner, and when I politely explained that I hadn't even HAD dinner for the last few days, she yells that I'm just giving as she put it "Stupid ugly worthless human excuses" then she throws some dust at me, and now I find that my music choices have become very limited.
If you could achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be? Well, if it were guaranteed 100% that the thing I picked would be achieved then I think the only thing I would feel really great for doing would be to make sure no child suffered during their childhood anymore. No more starving, or being forced into child labor or worst. They wouldn't have sickness, or anything of that sort, because I can't stand to see kids suffer.
Now If I couldn't do that one, because it is too big or whatever, and it had to be more on a personal level, in other words, more selfish of me, then I would be happy to find my true love, and count that as one of my greatest achievements.
You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose? Well duh, DISNEY! I mean come on, do I have to say anymore? No? Well I'm ganna anyway. I mean there is just so much you can do with it, you can have villains, or heroes, we can do reenactments of scenes from the movies, and do karaoke, AND it would be held in the theme-park after hours, when it's only us allowed inside (okay so maybe not that one, since I doubt I would ever be important enough to be able to hold an after-hours party at Disney but hey a guy can hope right? ^______^ )
Do you have a favourite composer? Right now the only one I can think of saying is Yann Tiersen
Is there any music that you cannot stand at all? I like to say that I give everything an equal chance, but the truth is I can't stand screemo or however you spell that, and also music where all they say are cus-words
Anything else you'd like to say? The only time I've ever wish I had long hair is when I play this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hwv_FuFnW54) , because I can just imagine being Pocahontas at the end of this scene and it would be amazing! Ugh! This song ALWAYS gives me chills, and every time I see this scene in World of Color, it always brings me to the verge of tears, manly tears of course.

An evil fairy pops up and curses you as a punishment for not inviting her to dinner; from now on you'll only be allowed to listen to one single genre of music for the rest of your life - which one is it? I'll say 'classical' because it can be used to encompass so many others including a lot of modern music (all right, a lot of modern classical sounds like crap)...
Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner? because I had never heard of her before she cursed me after the dinner!
If you yould achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be? I'll be vague and say 'success'.
You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose? Fire & Water: fireplaces, open fires, streams to look at, and pools and hot tubs to swim in abound
Do you have a favourite composer? Chopin - I have a bust of him on my desk.
Is there any music that you cannot stand at all? Two words: Arnold Schoenberg.

If you yould achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be? Is world peace a stupid answer? Because world peace.
You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose? Early 90s. Everyone would dress as cartoon characters or game show contestants and we'd drink Ecto Cooler and watch old TV.
Do you have a favourite composer? Nope. I don't like classical music.

Indie

btw: world peace is the best answer ever--it would impact everyone, plus you can extrapolate 'peace' to also mean financial peace in your wallet and your family's wallets, right? ;)

Is there any music that you cannot stand at all? Anything that has just one line of lyrics repeated over and over. I like music that has lyrics to have lyrics with some meaning in them. I also don't like anything with such loud, rough music that listening to it makes my head hurt.

Does "Showtunes" count as a single genre? Because that would be my choice, but I know that can often encompass many many types of music. If that doesn't work, I'll say 40s big band/swing

Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner?

Because she's evil. Also, she said that Nick Jonas was the best Marius in Les Miserables which is ludicrous. Everyone knows Michael Ball blows everyone else away.

If you yould achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be?

Either a Musicals theme or a Literary Characters theme.

Do you have a favourite composer?

Stephan Sondheim! *swoons* Seriously, that man...his music does things to me.

Is there any music that you cannot stand at all?

Eh, I'm not big on rap and hip hop usually (though there are some songs of that genre that I do like) and death metal does nothing for me.

An evil fairy pops up and curses you as a punishment for not inviting her to dinner; from now on you'll only be allowed to listen to one single genre of music for the rest of your life - which one is it? Anything with a violin in it---if that counts as a genre. :) I love the sound of the violin quite a bit, particularly fiddling, although I also love more classical uses.

If things-with-violins doesn't count, I'd have to say post-rock. I have very eclectic musical tastes, and I tire of listening to the same thing over and over again, but I tend to enjoy post-rock at all times. It does have the disadvantage of not being particularly up-beat, though.
Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner? I don't particularly enjoy having evil creatures sitting at my dinner table; it prevents me from enjoying my meal.
If you could achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be? If it's far-fetched dreams, I'd go for world peace and an end to all -isms and discrimination. (Yeah, yeah, stereotype, yeah yeah. . .) If it's realistic ones, I think I'd like to be able to look back on my life by the end of it and be satisfied---I want to know that I've had a successful career, given love, been loved, helped people, lived as much of my life as I can.
You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose? I throw an Easter brunch party every year, as I do enjoy good food and mimosas (and the part where I'm an atheist but throw an Easter party). I'm contemplating doing a theme for it this year, where everyone has to come as some bit of Easter paraphernalia (egg, baby rabbit, a basket, etc.).
Do you have a favourite composer? Not in particular. If pressed, I might say Tchaikovsky or Bach.

Favorite omg-you-are-a-magical-producer is Steven Wilson.
Is there any music that you cannot stand at all? Sorry, guys, but I hate modern country-rock. Bluegrass and folk and such are GREAT, but I cannot stand the extreme twang and the sentimentality. It makes me nuts.
Anything else you'd like to say? Thinking about music makes me want to go dancing.

An evil fairy pops up and curses you as a punishment for not inviting her to dinner; from now on you'll only be allowed to listen to one single genre of music for the rest of your life - which one is it? am I to pick one that would be a punishment? or is the punishment just that I'm only limited to one? if the latter is right, I'd pick classical. I don't think I'd ever get tired of it :)
Why exactly didn't you invite the fairy to dinner? probably because I'm shy and/or had no idea who she was (never met her, how did I know to invite her?)
If you you could achieve one thing in your life, may it be for you, may it be for the rest of the world, what would it be? to really help someone, make a lasting difference in their life, help improve their life somehow, by helping them get a home and a job if they were homeless, or helping them have enough to eat, or saving them from slavery or human trafficking. I don't know what, but just to help someone, would be awesome.
You're throwing a theme party; what is the theme you choose? movie adaptations of books! everyone dresses up as their favorite book-to-film character, we'd play movies in the background, and we could eat literary inspired foods like Butterbeer, lembas bread, and some of Peeta's frosted cookies
Do you have a favourite composer? current day, probably Howard Shore (bc the LOTR soundtracks are my favorite). but classical composers, probably Mozart. Or Bach.
Is there any music that you cannot stand at all? death metal where there's lots of screaming and screeching
Anything else you'd like to say? thanks for voting! this is a fun activity :)
