CHARM: Memory Charm
CHARACTER: The Doctor from Doctor Who. HI FELLOW DOCTOR WHO FANS prepare to be completely depressed by my reasoning for this. This is also a spoiler for Doctor Who season 4 (the one with Donna Noble), so tread carefully. But at the end of that season, after Donna accidentally absorbs some Time Lord energy via accidental contact with a severed hand, and then has that energy activated with the blast of an energy gun of sorts, she starts to get a little weird. She knows too much and humans can't have all that knowledge or she will die. The Doctor knows this, sadly, and so he knows he has to wipe Donna's memory of every single adventure the two of them had ever had together. She begs him not to, to make it stop somehow, but he has to basically cast the Memory Charm and make her forget every single thing. Even more painfully so, she can never remember or else she dies. OH GOD IT'S SO SAD

I haven't watched DW (and have tried and just can't for some reason, so I probably never will lol) but that is such a sad description! Even though I haven't seen it firsthand the way you described it makes me agree :)

Aw, I've never watched the show but that is really very sad, but an accurate description for the memory charm.

Awwww, that is so sad. But having the ability to be able to do that — for the good of someone else — totally makes me see how he fits the charm. But still. So sad!!
