Hi I'm Beckie supersonicchica and welcome to the the hogwartsishome chapter for the Harry Potter Alliance. As a few of you have heard, we are the first online chapter to ever be hosted by the charitable organization. Below the cut you will find more information about what the Harry Potter Alliance is and how you can get involved here at hogwartsishome. The roster and directions to sign up will also be below.

What is the Harry Potter Alliance, you ask? Well, here is their mission statement:


The Harry Potter Alliance (HPA) is a 501c3 nonprofit that takes an outside-of-the-box approach to civic engagement by using parallels from the Harry Potter books to educate and mobilize young people across the world toward issues of literacy, equality, and human rights. Our mission is to empower our members to act like the heroes that they love by acting for a better world. By bringing together fans of blockbuster books, TV shows, movies, and YouTube celebrities we are harnessing the power of popular culture toward making our world a better place. Our goal is to make civic engagement exciting by channeling the entertainment-saturated facets of our culture toward mobilization for deep and lasting social change.




We here at hogwartsishome will be able to help by doing numerous 'internet activities' to contribute to the Alliance. These will be in the form of club activities here at hh_clubs, you will be able to contribute while earning points for your HiH house.

HPA SIGN UPS:

Unlike the other clubs at hogwartsishome, you'll have to register over at the Harry Potter Alliance's site before signing the roster here. This is required to be an official member of the chapter. You can sign up at: HPA Sign Ups Make sure when you sign up you fill the organization as 'Harry Potter Alliance' and NOT 'Hogwarts is Home'.

When you are done you'll be asked to verify your email address, and fill out a profile form asking a few basic fandom questions including 'Where did you find out about the Harry Potter Alliance'... Go ahead and say you're from the Hogwarts is Home online chapter. It will also ask you which house you belong to. You do NOT have to sign up for the same house as your HiH house. You can sign up for whichever house you would like. For example, I am a Gryffindor here, but a Slytherin there. :D

When you're done filling out your profile, come back with your profile link and fill out the form below to sign up for the roster. That's it you're done! If something else comes up, I will make an announcement in the community. We're still working out bonus items, ect... but they will be coming shortly along with the first activity (banner contest). If you have any problems, just comment below and I'll help you out as much as I can.

Just a note: ALL activities held here will be 'Unlocked', so that the directors of the Alliance can see what progress we are having. Your comments will be screened once you are added to the roster. You do not have to wait to be added to the roster to participate in activities. Please sign up below your house thread.
