Invented by Damocles, Wolfsbane potion is used--not to cure--but to treat lycanthropy. The potion, while difficult to brew, prevents the beast from taking over the human during the full moon transformation of the werewolf. The disgusting tasting potion keeps the predator at bay, and while they are not true wolves, they are fearsome beats who--without the potion--would attack even their own loved ones. Werewolves--distinguished from true wolves by the pupils of eyes and the shape of both their tails and snout only truly exist at the full moon. Any other time they are regular people (although the term 'werewolf' still applies to them at this time despite them lacking fur and rather sharp teeth and claws). The Wolfsbane Potion allows them to retain their human shape on the nights of the full moon until the light of the moon actually hits them. In summary, the Wolfsbane potion allows the werewolf--who's bite transforms other into a werewolf--to curb their blood lust and retain some of their sanity during the full moon, and despite its difficulty to brew, the effect for the human inside the beast are well worth the effort.
