The Animagus Club

As the Animagus Board is slowly making progress working its way through the current applications, I think it's time to announce a new rule:

Before you apply to become an animagus, you have to buy the first 5 books of the Standard Book of Spells Series at hh_diagon.

Why? Well, becoming an animagus is *difficult*. Not just any first year student can become one. The books symbolize the years you spend at Hogwarts and having 5 of them means you're a 5th year student (in this club) and able to become an animagus.

So, off you go, earn knuts, buy the books, then apply!

Cheetah -- The lion is said to be majestic, the leopard ferocious and shrewd. But elegant and graceful best describes the cheetah. The cheetah is smaller than the other two cats, but by far the fastest at speeds of 70 miles per hour it can run faster than all other animals.

Actually, I think this suits me just fine! Now i just gotta go and write an essay O_O Did I mention that I have been out of school for quite a while, and my essay wirting skills are a little rusty? ~_^

House: Hufflepuff
Best Trait:
I have a natural tendency to do my best, whether it be in school, finding Christmas presents for friends or planning an outing. I rarely, if ever, will present something of poor quality, as I wouldn't want it to reflect on me. I am a very optimistic person who would like nothing less than to make a positive mark on the world.
Worst Trait:
I'm an introverted person, which can sometimes lead others to think I'm also very distant. Sometimes I shut people out and I can be pretty blunt, so I can see why some would think I'm not a nice person. But I'll never be a people pleaser, I strongly believe honesty is the best policy, even if it is somewhat brutal.
What would you want your animal form to be most capable of?
I would love it to live in a small pack/herd/business/etc. of animals and have the ability to travel quickly. Flying or running or swimming fast would be excellent. Although, I'm a terrible swimmer, so I can't see myself as an animal that swims.
Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth
Certainly not water, as explained above. I suppose I'll have to pick earth. I would love to fly, but earth is where everything's happening. Trees, plants, desert, mountains--I crave natural beauty!
Warm or cool?
I love warm colors and cool temperatures, so this is a hard question. Cool sounds like the best answer. I hate the heat and humidity here in Texas, so anything cool is heaven to me. That and I'm more of a cool person, who doesn't open up to just anyone and is pretty mellow.
Morning or evening?
Evening most definitely. For one thing, I never see mornings, since I refuse to leave the house early unless forced to for school. I'm extremely attracted to the lights and attractions of night life, so evening is a clear choice.
Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner?
I'm more of a loner, but I love going out with my best friends. I'd rather be by myself (or with family) when I'm at home, though. I guess I just see it as a place to relax and not entertain others. Plus there's that feeling of sadness when your friends have to leave you all alone again. So I'm a loner at home, love people everywhere else.

What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities?
Web design, houseplants, gardening, shopping, driving, going out, traveling are my favorite hobbies. I also love going to theatre productions, my latest venture having been Wicked when it toured in Houston. As for after school activities, I really like clubs, so I'm in German Club, French Club, the Environmental Conservation Club and Key Club. (=
Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with?
I've always had a thing for birds, I'm pretty sure I was a bird in a past life. That and one of the women who died for the Women's Right Movement. Right, animals. Maybe cats, I'm very much a cat person, though I'm sure I'm allergic to them. But I'm a clean freak and somewhat of a loner, which are definitely cat qualities.
Are there any animals you are afraid of?
Oh, dogs. I never liked dogs ever since my sister (who moved out) decided it'd be fun to adopt five of them and bring them over to visit us. Untrained, energetic animals aren't my cup of tea. I'm also afraid of insects. They're so small and not knowing where they are freaks me out...
Why would you like to be an animagus?
To explore. It's so hard to travel when you're a person considering the expenses, danger, lack of time, usw. which I think can be almost completely avoided if I was an animal for a while. Sometimes what I want more than anything is to be somewhere else, to take in a completely different culture and surrounding, just temporarily.

OK, I'd firstly like to apologize if you get comments emailed to you, because I seem to be failing at entering this right now, and this is probably the fourth comment attempt I've made. So, uh, sorry if you have lots of these in your email! OK, on to the app:

Wheee! I've finally decided to go ahead and buy my books (which you can see here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/hh_diagon/5547.html?thread=432555#t432555)), so here's ~~my application~~ part 1 of 3 of my application to become an animagus (sorry! It's seems to be too long to even fit into two comments well. It's just that I figured you could ignore anything you didn't want, but I couldn't very well add more after submitting it . . . ::looks guilty::) :

House: Ravenclaw

Best Trait: Well, as I'm a 'Claw you probably wouldn't be too surprised if I said my best trait was my mind. I'm currently a Math major with what amounts to a minor in Latin (my college has no actual minors, so it is a "certificate of advanced study," but it's pretty much the same thing for me . . .), and have always considered my academic abilities one of my best traits. Other than that, I think it might very well be my enthusiasm . . . because, let's face it, my intelligence would get me nowhere without my enthusiasm for my chosen subjects. It's my enthusiasm that has me doing Sanskrit (it's the oldest indo-european language still known to us! It's so cool, particularly when compared to Latin and Greek! Plus, it has eight cases! EIGHT!) as an independent study, and currently working on whole new theorems, never before proved by anybody! Oh, and my enthusiasm is totally what's responsible for my participation here, and over all dorkiness . . .

Worst Trait: Really, this might all also be my enthusiasm, except as a worst trait it's better called obsessiveness. You see, when I get a new interest/obsession, I *really* get a new interest. In some ways it's nice, because I have fun, do cool things, and am a total dork. In other ways it has me thinking of ways to put Rodney McKay (a character from Stargate: Atlantis, my newest <s>obsession</s> interest) into my Latin, and deciding to read fic instead of sleeping (I generally get around four hours of sleep a night, because I spend *way* too much time on my obsessions). I also have a big problem with arrogance of a sort. You see (like Buffy 8D), I have a bit of a superiority complex, and a bit of an inferiority complex about my superiority complex. My superiority complex, manifests itself in strange ways, such as a feelings of superiority over those who don't seem to do as well academically, and annoyance at people unwilling to force themselves to do things I willing force myself to do (like who make a big deal about being to sick to do anything . . . when they have a *cold* . . . grrr!)

What would you want your animal form to be most capable of? Parsing latin words and visualizing things in 4-Dimensions!! . . . Seriously, I think I might most want to be able to fly. To look upon the land from that high up? Well, that would just be pretty damn cool. I would love to have that perspective. Plus, the ability to dive bomb people would be great! 8D

Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth Well, given my previous answer, you'd think I'd say air, but I actually lean towards earth. I love the earth, particularly forests. When I'm tired, stressed, or just a bit worried I like to go take a walk in the forest. It gives me a feeling of peace and serenity to observe the earth, and I love to feel connected to it . . .

Warm or cool? Definitely warm. I love warmth. I put so very many blankets on my bed and go around in fuzzy sweaters all winter long . . .

I really think my amazing ability to crit-fail at posting this application may give lie to my house motto . . .

Anyways, here's part 2:

Morning or evening? This is a tough one . . . I think I might actually prefer the morning because, since I get up a bit earlier than most college students, its time I have by myself that I can spend doing anything from lying in bed reading, to homework without being disturbed.

Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner? Well, I vary a lot . . . sometimes, as you might guess from my previous answers, I enjoy being alone and just doing all sorts of stuff by myself with no worries about interruptions or anything. On the other hand <s>you have different fingers! Hee hee hee!</s> I also greatly enjoy spending time with close friends. We don't even have to be doing anything we couldn't do seperately, we can just sit there reading or doing homework, and I just enjoy spending the time with them. What I generally *don't* like is being arounds tons of people. My general rule is "I like persons, it's just people I can't stand!" 8D

Please give an accurate description of your appearance; pictures are welcome! I currently have very curly hair that falls a bit past my shoulder when dry and about three-quarters of the way down my back when wet. It's a pretty mousy brown in color, with a few red and blonde highlights . . . I myself, am approximately 5'6", and am pretty much exactly a size 12. I love to wear fuzzy, fuzzy sweaters in the winter! I go to school in Minnesota, so it takes many layers to keep me warm, and fuzzy sweaters are always helpful. Plus, they're fuzzy! When I'm just puttering around my house I like to wear my monkey sweatshirt and a random pair of sweat pants. I have no explanation for this. Except, well, *monkeys*! In the summer, I generally wear light weight khaki's (or other similiar pants) and t-shirts that amuse me/make me happy (my current favorite has a sillouette of Serenity against a setting sun and says "I am a leaf on the wind/Watch how I soar").

I can't really think of anything else to say except to give you a link to a picture of me from a few christmases ago. It's pretty reasonable, except that the hair is very off, being still recovering from an experiment where we dyed the top of it blue and the bottom pink (it seemed like a good idea at the time! It was temporary dye! And I wanted to look like Fray! . . . Apparently, if you bleach your hair, temporary dye is no longer really temporary. So then you have to do much rebleaching. And then the redying. And then your hair hates you, forever more). Oh, I suppose I've lost some weight since then too, but not that much.

What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities? Ah hah! Rather than having to rethink my answer, I shall place here what I used on my sorting app:

Well, I love to read, particularly Science Fiction, Fantasy and Historical Fiction. I also have a fondness for these genres in TV and movies, and enjoy following shows like Buffy, Doctor Who, etc. In addition, I love mathematics and classics. I like to spend my free time translating Plautus (I'm just reading the Menaechmi for the first time and it is great!), and inventing haikus about e to the i pi. Really, most of my hobbies revolve around similar things, because when you get right down to it, I'm one big great dorky nerd. Oh, and I like to folk dance!

OK, that's definitely pretty much true. Important things to note are that I'm done with the Menaechmi, and have become absolutely obsessed with Stargate: Atlantis since I wrote that. I can't really think of anything that needs noting. Oh well, I spend a lot of my time being an all around fangirl, and <user site="livejournal.com" user="angeleyesjg24"> made me this great liscense to fangirl that's (almost entirely) covers that:

Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with? I've always loved hedgehogs. I had one as a pet when I was younger, and rather imprinted upon them. It's just that they are so cute and cuddly, while at the same time being good at warding off people they didn't like. You don't have to worry about mean people picking up your hedgehog! Plus hedgehogs are just such inventive little critters! Mine figured out all on her own how to climb up her cage and open the top door! . . . I've also really felt drawn to otters. They always seem to be such playful, intelligent creatures that it's hard to *not* want to spend time with them . . .

Are there any animals you are afraid of? SPIDERS!!! I hate them with a fiery passion! When I was younger I ended up trapped in my bath tub for what felt like hours while a jumping wolf spider jumped up and down outside of it. I was traumatized! Traumatized I tell you!

Why would you like to be an animagus? OK, so this is a bit tough alright. Partially I want to be an animagus because it's just cool! I mean, who wouldn't want to follow in the footsteps of the Marauders? More seriously, I would love the different perspective one could get through the transformation. Animals know better than to care about silly human things that I frequently find myself caring far too much about, and it would be wonderful to have the ability to feel as they do. Also, I would love to feel their connection to nature, to just go out and be part of all that . . . and who knows what research one could get as animagus! I bet you could get some amazing studies done!

Plus, I could get to all sorts of places that I can't as a human. I might be able to soar high into the sky, or scurry into the tree roots . . .

Best Trait:great listener,I am the steady rock in my friends lives. If i am needed i will be there i guess its more like loyalty, ya i guess loyalty is the right word. I will always be there to listen and to be the calm in the storm for anyone i care about.
Worst Trait:My Impatients,i hate being late, I hate slow drivers, i can easiely get road rage, I am a, lets do it now, type of person, If i want to accomplish something i want to start now, not tomorrow, NOW. If there is anyone slowing me down, i will get angry and i will tell them so.
What would you want your animal form to be most capable of?uummm, well flight is always nice. Being able to fly has been mans dream since the stone age, now we make up the fact that we alone cannot fly by haveing airplanes and such. Also it could help me rid my fear of hieghts, i grow faint at the mere thought of jumps from a high point like bungee jumping or sky diving, no way!

You know how some people cannot go places alone? like my best friend hates going to the mall by herslef, as for me i have no problem going by myself, if someone wants to come with me great, but if no can go no big deal. I hope i didnt just make this harder lol i can get kind of confusing. Im not a Loner persay, i just like my solitude sometimes and sometimes i like ot be around people.

Ok well, my hair is naturally curly, a darkbrown chestnut color with lighter shades almost redder shades of brown,and its thick and about down to my mid back right now, i have as my friend said "intense brown eyes". Im a thick chick, i have some curves! i have naturally tan skin. I hope that helps!
What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities?I love to sing, and i'm good at it, if i do say so myself, i act as well. I love to read if im bored. I also scrapbook but not very often. I love to cook as well. I like playing softball and im a Fencer, Sabre.
Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with?Well i know i have a connection with my dog Kasper, hes a chocolate lab, all he has to do is look at me and i know what he wants. kind of creepy, but in a good way, so dogs i find i connect with well and also dolphins, let me explain! I went on vacation in florida when i was younger around like 10, and we went to go see the dolphins. When they let me go up to the tank and pet one, they ALL came towards me. When i moved out of the way to let the other kids go they followed me, it was extremely bizzare and i will never forget it.
Are there any animals you are afraid of?BUGS! I CANNOT STAND ANY TYPE OF BUG. EW. One time a nasty long many legged bug was crawling up my wall in my room, it was HUGE! i screamed grabbed my shoe and threw it at the bug and the bug fell but i couldnt find it so i freaked even more and i refused to sleep in my room for a week, i hope that shows you how much i HATE bugs.
Why would you like to be an animagus?I just think that it would be cool to know what animal that i personify. Like what animal is most like me, the animal the i remind people of. I know that when i look at people i will always think to myself "wow they look like a bear" or "they look like a beaver" i just want to know what other people say when they see me. The feline family is known for its quiet yet domineering natures. The cheetah is especially built for speed, elegance and grace. The animal is unique in the fact that its body is leaner and smaller than other large cats. I feel connected to this animal due to the keen senses that I proudly possess. The animal was literally built for speed running up to 70 mph, it is the fastest land animal. Running has been a passion of mine since my realization that it is the best emotional outlet I have besides my music. The cheetah is also self-less, a quality that I know I possess since my heart is very family oriented. A mother cheetah has been known to starve just to feed her young. Though the cheetah does not have the physically aggressive means like others in the cat family, the mother is nonetheless protective and caring. I am the type of person that has the same qualities. I believe that one should never underestimate someone due to physical appearance because I myself pack a punch in a petite frame. I want others to know me for my emotional and physical strength; strength I have acquired for the people I care about. I myself am not aggressive until push comes to shove. The cheetah’s habitat is that of warm climates. Though I grew up on Long Island and have had my fair share of the four seasons, I was born in the Philippines and would much rather prefer the soft warmth of the sun any day. The Cheetah is patient; a virtue that I value in myself greatly. And because of its built for speed, it has strong heart. I would like to apply this to myself in a literal and figurative form. I run to keep myself healthy. But I treasure more having the strength of heart in a figurative sense because I have learned to love, a human gift that is not to be taken lightly. Love is bittersweet. For me, love is the giving of oneself to another. And it is in the quality of love that I find the most beauty and satisfaction. My strength of heart in love is what makes my life worthwhile.

House: Hufflepuff
Best Trait: My creativity. I need to express myself. It's just something I can't live without. I love the aesthetic, and I love making things. Through creation I can speak to the world, and through creation I can make my mark on the world. 
Worst Trait: My procrastination- I tend to put things off. Sometimes it's because I need to think things through before I do them. Still, in some situations, I need to be impulsive. I want to be a quick-thinker, who can take charge when needed. 
What would you want your animal form to be most capable of? Adaptability. I'd like my animal form to be one that can survive in many different ecosystems. 
Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth Water- I love jumping into a cool body of water in the summer. Especially wave pools, because the feeling of calm that comes over you and you let the waves sway you gently as one of the greatest feelings on Earth. I also love the water because while I'm slow on my feet on land, I'm a really fast swimmer, and I'm really flexible underwater. Water just makes me feel safe, and powerful.
Warm or cool? Cool. Though I wouldn't want to be cool all the time, I wouldn't want to be cold, either. When I say cool, I mean the same 'cool' with the image that comes to mind is one of a tropical sea with beautiful flashes of teal and brightly colored tropical fish where you can see beautiful things and enjoy a break from the sun.
Morning or evening? Sometimes, I am quite the night-owl. Still, I prefer the morning. I love to sleep, but nothing beats the feeling of getting up early and taking the day head-on. It just seems that when you wake up late, by the time you get one thing done, it's already time to end the day.
Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner? I'm more of a loner. I have a few close friends that I spend a lot of time with, but I need my free time more than anything, where I can truly be myself and take part in my fantasies without feeling embarrassed. 
Please give an accurate description of your appearance; pictures are welcome! My eyes are big and dark brown. I have big curly dark brown hair that I usually wear up, but sometimes I wear it down, and sometimes I straighten it. My lips are pretty big, the normal color. . I'm about 5'6", and overweight. I have tan skin, though it doesn't show in my pictures
What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities? I love doodling and sketching. I love singing, but it's always either as part of the ensemble of a musical or in my car or room. I love acting in shows, but I've been distancing myself lately from my school's theatre program. I've come to understand that the people of the theatre program can't seem to get along. My favorite hobbies are surfing the web and drawing. 
Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with? An animal that I spend time with is one that I feel connected to. I don't really differentiate between species, but personalities. Animals have the most distinct personalities- you’ll see them if you're willing to listen and pay attention.
Are there any animals you are afraid of? Not really. I think animals are fascinating. From a very early age, my mother and I watched the Discovery channel and PBS and I learned a lot about your average "creepy-crawly" type animal. Insects fascinate me. I love watching spiders and centipedes walk- like fluid. It's like sitting watching snow outside- you could do it for hours. Mostly, I'm curious about things I don't know- that means animals too. 
Why would you like to be an animagus? I never tire of thinking of the possibilities. Could I communicate with other animals? Would I have a human mentality, or an animal mentality? The possibilities are endless. Besides, being an animagus would allow me a place to escape and explore and experience new things. Given the choice, who wouldn't want the ability to turn into an animal? There are so many amazing adventures one could have- so many new things one could learn.

Best Trait: I can wait until my time comes. I usually don’t hesitate things, think them over and wait for the best moment, though that sometimes leaves me with the perfect moment passing by…
Worst Trait: I tend to lecture people with things that I know, even if THEY don’t wanna know. A trait, that I’d really like to get rid of, but I simply can’t stand it when people are talking rubbish that they think is correct, or when I can add background information that might come in handy one day. What would you want your animal form to be most capable of? Stand hunting should be one of its distinctive features, the ability to lie down and wait till the prey is almost directly in front of your mouth. Why should you hunt down your food, when you can also wait till it walks into your mouth? Besides of that it should be able to climb and jump, because sometimes you just cannot count on your prey being such a fool…

Warm or cool? Warm. I love the sun, though the wetter shouldn’t be too hot. I like cold weather too, but I prefer a stable summer cuz it gives me far less headaches (I’m sensible to weather changes). Also, you cannot have a nice picnic in winter (except in your living room in front of the tv ;D)…
Morning or evening? Morning. Even though I sleep the most of some days since I work two days a week as a night auditor in a hotel, I prefer the day over the night. I think that’s mostly because here in Germany there are no 24/7 stores and most bars and pubs also close at about 2 am latest. I need not much sleep though, so I get the most out of all days and even some of the late night hours as well. Finally, I’m also an early riser, or better I have become one over the last two years. It’s theearly bird that catches the worm…
Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner? I like my friends around me, but usually, I tend to be a loner, learning rather all by myself than in a group. I had only a small group of friends in university, and in my RPG groups tend to be the same people in all the groups. When I meet new people, I first observe them for a while, trying to find out how they tick. I simply don’t like certain types of people…

Please give an accurate description of your appearance; pictures are welcome! tall (1 meter 90 centimeters, which should be about 6’4”), heavy-built (around 105 kg/210 lbs.), dark haired (brown), with beard (which funnily is mainly of red colour), I usually wear glasses (if I’m not at home or in costume), I have some freckles on my nose, and a nice collection of scars all over my body (from several occasions, the last being a fall onto my right knee, when I hunted and missed a bus…). What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities? Movies (mostly on video or DVD, since cinema has become quite expensive over the last years), books (adventure, fantasy, science fiction and crime), RPGs (7th Sea, Robotech II: The Sentinels, The Dark Eye, Mutant Chronicles, Marvel Superheroes and many more), history and wildlife documentaries (Especially the history ones. We have some quite good shows with re-enactments in them here in Germany), fencing (I learned to fight with epee, rapier, sword and broad sword, and even though I had little training and practice lately, I appreciate every opportunity) …
Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with? Day geckos of the phelsuma family and poisonous dart frogs (esp. Phyllobates vittatus). I had both animal types in a vivarium, they were really fun to watch. The frogs (above named species) were hunting on the ground and around the small “river” I built for them, while the phelsuma (a pair of phelsuma laticauda laticauda) were waiting for the escaping flys to crawl into the upper parts of the habitat. Watching the animals was real fun, their hunting strategies, their mating rituals, when they simply enjoyed the artificial sun or took a bath in the tiny river. I’d like to reactivate my vivarium, but it’s much too expensive at the moment, and beside of that, my girlfriend is afraid of reptiles…
Are there any animals you are afraid of? I have a heavy though not severe phobia of dogs. It dates back to my early childhood when I was almost bitten by a big German shepherd. Nothing serious, but when you’re age two or three, it’s quite traumatic…
Why would you like to be an animagus? Well, I think it would be a very interesting experience to become an animal and see the world with its eyes. To hunt prey or flee from predators, to live the easy and yet dangerous life in the wild, how fascinating and educating this would be! I think, there would be no better way to learn the last secrets of nature, to feel the real world and not only the artificial one we created for us…

Best Trait: I would say it is my openness to others. I try not to judge people just because of the way they live their lives. People have a certain basic right to live the way that they want to live, and to be accepted for it. Sure, I don’t agree with certain life styles, but I’m not going to condemn them for it, because, I’m sure many people don’t agree with the way that I live my life. I refuse to judge someone on appearance or what I hear from others. I feel we learn from experience, and if I meet you, and like you, then you are fine with me, no matter what.
Worst Trait: My friends would say that I’m a tad too trusting/loyal. Shame on you if you fool me once, shame on me if you fool me once, twice, three times, because I refuse to believe that someone that I choose to associate myself with has done something that is harmful to me. Also, being as trustworthy as I am, I get taken advantage of a lot. People feel that they can come to me with any thing, and I will help them, which I will. Its just in my nature to go to the ends of the earth to help a friend in need, even if I feel what they are doing is not the best thing for them. I just can’t help it.
What would you want your animal form to be most capable of? Just observing life. I know that it sounds sort of lame, but I don’t want to be an animagus to fight, or to scare people. I would want to just be able to set back, relax, and listen in on things. I think that would be really helpful in life. I would like to listen to my friends, family, enemies, or whatever undetected. I know it sounds like I want to spy, but, I really wouldn’t use it for any hurtful reason, just to be more informed.
Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth Water. I love the water. It amazes me that something as big as an ocean can be so tranquil, but 5 minutes later, can be so violent that you would never want to go back. Water is really the basic element of life, isn’t it? Human bodies and the earth are 75% water. It can be so vast, yet be so little. It can be so beautiful, yet very dangerous, kind of like a kitchen knife, it is used for the simplest reason, but then again, it can be very dangerous.
Warm or cool? Cool, I’ve always had this personal philosophy that you can always put more clothes on than you can take off. But more seriously, when you are cool, I believe that you can handle certain things better then when you are warm. Me, myself, I’m more agile when I’m cooled down, and I also think better.
Morning or evening? Evening. The sun setting is just so beautiful, and it relaxes me. I love to set outside and watch the sun disappear over the mountains and know that, I have lived another day on Earth and that with each passing day, I’m growing more and more mature and it gives me a greater appreciation for life.
Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner? I love to be around people. I get lonely very easily, and having someone near eases the loneliness. I don’t even have to talk to them; I just need to be around someone. I’m not saying I’m some crazy that cannot be alone, I’m just saying it makes me feel good, knowing that someone is there.

I’m fairly tall for my age, I stand around 5’11. Brown Hair, Green Eyes. What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities? Reading is a big one. I read at least two hours a day. I also love to go to Church and participate in my youth group. It’s like my second home. I’m on the internet a lot, and I play pool, and skateboard a little here and there, although I can do no tricks.(Although in 7th grade I lied to all my friends and said that I could. Whoops.)

Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with? Certainly. Coming from Kentucky, I see a lot of hunting. I don’t like it. I feel drawn to animals such as deer, elk, rabbits, squirrels, etc. that are hunted around here. I just don’t see how people can kill such beautiful animals, and I feel bad for them, and want to save them.
Are there any animals you are afraid of? ….Snake. Or better yet, although it is weird, I’m deathly afraid of worms, or any thing without legs. I used to fish when I was little, and I would scream in terror at the sight of the worms. Although I'm not as bad as I used to be, I still don’t like to mess around with them.
Why would you like to be an animagus? I think it would be an excellent asset in life, to be able to transform oneself into an animal at will. It takes time, and commitment, and that makes it all the more great, because it shows that you commit to things you start. Within HiH, I think becoming an animagus appeals to me because it, again, takes time and effort to complete it, and it shows how dedicated that I am to this community. Also, it would give me something to ~~brag~~ talk about in the Common Room.

Best Trait: I think my best trait is my ability to logically think through problems. I was originally going to write intelligence, but after thinking about it, I tend to help my friends out a lot more by being a mediator. This doesn't necessarily work with my own problems, but whenever my friends come to me with an issue, I always try to mediate a sucessful and calm solution.

Worst Trait: My worst trait is definitely my shyness. I'm having a hard time getting used to college, and part of that is because I don't make friends very easily. I get very nervous and unhappy around people I don't know, and I have difficulty just starting up a conversation with someone. I'm happiest in an established routine, with close friends, and in a place I'm used to.

What would you want your animal form to be most capable of? I really like carnivores, or an animal that can protect itself. When I was younger I was facinated by wolves, raptors, and big cats, and I really still am. I think that they are wonderful examples of how complex nature can be, because those animals tend to have more complex lives or social structures. Besides,it's just cool to be something strong and scary. ;)
 
Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth I love how wings look, and I love to swim, but thinking about my fear of heights, and just the way I tend to act, I choose Earth. Earth is solid and strong, and rarely leaves you vunerable.

Warm or cool? I like cool, actually. I like warm and fuzzy feelings, but I get hot easily, and I can do something about bein cold. Being warm is harder to fix. I also like "cool" colors like blue and gree better than red or yellow.

Morning or evening? I like evening better. I have a lot of trouble getting up in the morning, and a hard time getting to sleep at night. I've looked up my habits, and I am very much a classic night person. I tend to be more active at night, and I am also more aware of my surroundings at night. Night is also very quiet, and I can think about stuff better then.

Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner?
I am very muct a loner. After one semester of living with a roommate for the first time, I have decided that I need to get a single dorm next year. I can talk to people, I like having friends, but I always need a place where I can be alone. I like to read and watch the news, and very few people in this day and age like to do that. So I feel less nervous when I can do my thing without making anyone else angry.

It's probably my most defining feature.I have a few moles on my hairline and faint freckles on my cheeks.

What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities? I love to read and write. I also play video games a lot, on the computer and on the console. I am very interested in politics, so I watch the news and read the paper, as well as campaign and petition for my ideas. I rode horses for ten years, and still love them.

Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with?
Not really, but I have always been interested in the carnivores, because of their power and intelligence.I've been especially interested in wolves, horses, raptors, and big cats.

Are there any animals you are afraid of? I hate bees and spiders. Anything that flies into my face and buzzes makes me very nervous. I think it's because I don't like things flying into my face, and bees just make me really nervous. I've only been stung once, and I'm not allergic or anything, but I just really don't like them.

Why would you like to be an animagus? I want to be an animagus for two reasons. One is that I am facinated by shapeshifters. It gives you the power and ability of a beast that connects you to your more primal side.I think it is an interesting connection between the mind of a human and the mind and instincts of the beast. The second reason is because it is a recognition of ability. It is HARD to become an animagus, and it is a great honor to have the skill to become one. It means you can handle the magic involved, while changing the make-up of your own body, and you can handle having the animal's senses and instincts as well. That would be a totally disorienting position to be in, and would be a challanging thing to overcome.

Best Trait: My outlook on and appreciation for life. It's not that I just ignore all the bad things in the world or am an eternal optimist; I see the world for what it is and think it has amazing beauty. Then there's life, which is just outstanding. So many options, ways to live it, things to do. I think, were I offered immortality....I would take it.
Worst Trait: My easy-going nature and the contentment I find in the little things sometimes keep me from striving and pushing myself. I accept the status quo when maybe I shouldn't, occasionally. I think it's a form of laziness. 
What would you want your animal form to be most capable of? Things I can't do in human form. I'm not too sure how to elaborate on that....basically it'd be nice to go undetected into places I may not have access to otherwise, but that's not all I mean. Run really fast, or fly, or jump, or just SOMETHING different. I'm not athletic but I'm active. I jog (and hate it the whole time) and lift weights and did dance all through school but my hand/eye coordination is miserable (actually.....my EYES are terrible). It'd be nice to excel physically but not stand out.
Choose one of the following -- Air, Water, Earth I'm tempted to say Air just to prove how hardxcore! Ravenclaw I am, but no. Earth, for sure. It has such great variety, I tend to think of the other two as aspects of it anyway, and OMG SO PRETTY. I feel most connected to it. It's home.
Warm or cool? Cool. You can be a warm (friendly) and cool (rad) person at the same time, I like doing cool weather things, I love tea and coco and coffee, the clothes are WAY cuter for cool weather *like, totally*, and my freakin toes are always cold.
Morning or evening? Morning. There is something magical about the world waking up. I love to sit on the balcony with my dog and a cup of tea and the morning, especially when the air has a crisp bite in it, but it's not cold. Dark is for sleeping.
Do you like to have people around you or are you more of a loner? More of a loner, I think. I have great faith in humanity as a whole, and I know some AMAZING people and am very lucky in my family and friends, whom I would do anything for. But it takes a while and fairly extreme circumstances for me to start feeling lonely, and, for instance, I totally DESPISE the fact that we live in an apartment complex and have low tolerance for our (loud, messy, immature) neighbors. I don't have road rage but I hate being among the masses.

My face is kind of weird and average, I like it okay because when I look in the mirror I can see both my parents. I'm always smiling, pretty much, and my smile is either nice or dorky depending on how big it is at the time. Tall and not skinny (not fat or built like a guy, but I'm not a tiny girl with delicate bone structure....like, my hands are big for a girl's). Then there's my hair. It is frizzy, coarse, thick, and curly. It's Hermione hair only curly. NOT EMMA WATSON. Hermione. This isn't the best since my hair is pulled up, and I'm wearing a tshirt with a denim skirt (I don't know), but <a href="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c39/rhowan_jane/Goodpic.jpg" target="_blank"> pic.</a> Also, that one is okay, and my wedding pictures were good (thank the kindergarten gods), but I'm not photogenic. At all.
What are your favorite hobbies and extracurricular activities? Reading, camping, music (listening, doodling, playing, talking about), writing but that one is fairly new. Skiing and dancing and frisbee. OH! Cooking! I do that on a daily basis and really enjoy it.

Oh lord, I really don't know. I'm told that I'm sweet a lot, and people generally complement me on my writing - I apparently have a good inherent rhythm of word - and I'm always told that I'm smart and silly, but mostly "oh, you're so sweet and nice, Keri!" But is that really a good trait to have? I mean, it kind of makes me a pushover!
Worst Trait:
I'm very asocial. It's not a problem for me - I don't mind being alone (well, I'm asocial! I like it!), but I'm answering these two questions according to what other people say, and it seems that other people would think being asocial is a bad thing. They definitely say so at work. The girls there are horrified that I don't go out or anything, I just work and go to school. And I am a little unhappy that my social skills aren't very good, but I'm also autistic and all the stuff that comes with that means it'd be hard for me to socialize well *anyway* (and I've tried...it just doesn't work).
What would you want your animal form to be most capable of?
What's it called when a cat is curled in a patch of sunlight? I want my animal form to be able to do that. To soak up the sun while dozing. I don't care about flying or running or swimming or anything. I just really want to be able to soak in the sun. All my life when I've thought about being an animal, I've tended towards the ones that do that and that live in Florida ('cause I'm familiar with them!) like turtles and alligators and snakes.

Uhm, swamp? 'Cause I guess you're trying to get at a good animal for me, and this is to narrow down types, and I kinda mentioned above about Florida animals and familiarity and...yeah. I don't really know which, except NOT air!

I like heat. If the animal lives in the cold but can be really hot, like a polar bear, that's awesome. But I don't like snow at ALL. (FLORIDA!!! ;P)

afternoon? See, I just have to make it difficult here. I don't know how I'm supposed to choose. I like sleeping in the morning, but being awake in time for sunny afternoons. Does that help?

Well, I'm rather asocial, I mentioned. But, oddly enough, I like to peoplewatch. Going to parks and watching everyone do their thing is really relaxing.

I like to sleep and doze a lot. Yeah, that cat thing again. :P I am an obsessive reader and I'll read just about ANYTHING. I'm not particularly religious, but if the only book around is a Bible, I'll read it. I don't like sports, but if the only thing is a sports page, yeah, I'll read that, too. I also like to make up stories and look through kaleidoscopes.
Are there any animals that you feel drawn to or a connection with?
Well, animals in Florida. Flamingoes, black bears, racoons, turtles, alligators, copperheads, jaguars, quail, manatees, 'possums are some, I guess. Also hippopotami. But mostly the ones in the swamps and marshes and springs - alligators, monkeys (imported to Silver Springs specifically for the Tarzan movies! they've gone native), turtles, racoons, manatees, and snakes.
Are there any animals you are afraid of?
I'm not very fond of most birds. Egrets and flamingoes and storks and whatnot are interesting, but I really don't like to get close. Armadillos aren't really my cup of tea, either, though they look nifty. Mostly I'm not scared of animals unless they're dead, attacking, or in places they oughtn't be (like in my toilet). Oh, I don't like iguanas. They're just wrong. But kimono dragons are okay. I hate Canadian geese, but I'm not afraid of them. They're just obnoxious.
Why would you like to be an animagus?
If I could slip away to a sunny spot undisturbed for hours, wouldn't that be lovely? Too often I'm interrupted and I just want to be left alone. I'm also reminded of the Animorphs and the cool stuff they did. (Rachel was always my favorite. I identified with her a lot.) Also, it seems animals have a simpler life and it would be nice to be able to escape to that sometimes.

South African Caracal -- Although closely related to the Lynx, the caracal is smaller in stature and has a much longer tail. Caracal is a Turkish word meaning "black eared". They are capable of tremendous aerial acrobatic jumps. Caracals have the claim to fame of being the "fastest of all the small cats".
