CHARM: Engorgement Charm (Engorgio)
CHARACTER: Bloat from Finding Nemo is a pufferfish who often becomes inflated suddenly, usually from his intense emotions, or sudden things that trigger his instinctual sense of preservation. Engorgio would fit Bloat because not only does he physically become larger, or more bloated, if you will, but he also has a big heart. He welcomes Nemo into the "Tank Gang" with a friendly smile, and remains spirited and dedicated to his pals in the fish tank, and eventually, the ocean.

CHARM: Bubble-head Charm
CHARACTER: Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls
I picked Bubbles for the Bubble-head Charm for three main reasons. First of all, her name is Bubbles so that is very fitting. Secondly, she literally has a bubble head. Just look and see how big her head is compared to the rest of her body. The proportions are way off. And the last reason is that she's metaphorically a bit of a bubble head in that she's a bit ditzy and clueless. In summary, her name contains part of the charm, she physically resembles the charm and she acts like the charm.

I'm pretty proud of you for coming up with this one because he isn't a main character. It's super clever and very fitting for the charm.

CHARM: Diffindo (Severing charm); ' a spell that rips, divides, and separates objects into parts'.
CHARACTER: Lord Voldemort.

I chose Diffindo as the charm that matches Lord Voldemort because I find them very similar. For one, he ripped/divided/separated his soul into different parts via horcruxes (even though he didn't use this specific spell to do it). This spell is very dangerous and deadly which also matches Voldemort really well. Diffindo is usually used to separate pieces of an object, though, as it has a slicing effect when it comes into contact with flesh.

I LOVE BLOAT. Haha, he's always been one of my favorites and what a fitting charm for him. And he does stay spirited, even when he's in a bag in the middle of the ocean. (I always thought him bloating up should've poked the bag, but ohwell.)

This is a really smart pair to have, I wouldn't have thought of it myself but it's realy fitting. After all, a person who is ripped, in and of themselves, that is Voldemort and this spell captures that perfectly. And I find the fact that it slices a human a pretty good parallel to what Voldemort does to people - carve up their lives and leave scars. /metaphors abound

YOU ARE AMAZING SOMETIMES. I am so pleased this is the first comment. It's perfect. I don't even watch MLP but I know enough of the characters to know that this is really fitting. Haha, and also, MLP icons also make me feel better (especially Pinkie Pie) so that works too. :D

CHARM: Unlocking Charm (Alohomora)
CHARACTER: Sherlock Holmes (I'm thinking 09 Movieverse but whichever one works here)

Sherlock Holmes is a detective, before everything - what he does is unlock secrets; he finds things out from people by just looking at them and solves mysteries. This charm unlocks things just like his mind does. It's also a fairly simple spell and I think that Holmes actions seem simple (he looks at people, he remembers, and to him all this is easy) but if you look into the spell, it'd probably be ridiculously difficult to think of. I mean, imagine one spell working on so many things - it's a hard thing to comprehend - and that's Holmes in a nutshell to me; incomprehensible if you actually think about him and what he does.

Omg, this entire thing made me lol. But yes, it's so fitting on so many levels - especially the body thing. Although, technically she's still 4 or something and I suppose that kids are weirdly shaped and both her sisters are that way too... Thinking too much about a cartoon. But, yeah, I agree. And I like the 3rd reason, because Bubbles always seemed less, uh, intellectual than her sisters.

CHARM: Bubble-Head Charm
CHARACTER: Sandy Cheeks (from Spongebob)

The Bubble-Head Charm is a charm that places a protective bubble around one's head so someone can breathe comfortably in water as if it were air. Similarly, being a squirrel (who breathes air, not the water in Bikini Bottom), Sandy Cheeks uses a near carbon copy of the Bubble-Head Charm to breathe comfortably in Bikini Bottom when not in her special, dry-air house. In particular, she wears a bubble on her head so that she can breathe, which is nearly identical to the charm!

HAHA this fits perfectly! Every time I watch MLP Pinkie Pie makes me laugh. I understand her too, as humor is my defense mechanism XD

LOL the powerpuff girls as bobble(bubble)-heads XD. I never thought of that, but now that I think about it, it makes total sense, and the charm does fit Bubbles really well :)

Whoa never would have thought of this one - but it fits perfectly! Sherlock does seem to make originally difficult tasks (finding a murderer, unlocking a door without a key), seem very simple :)

Hahahaha, okay I've gotta admit, this is pretty perfect. I don't even watch Spongebob but I remember this chick; like Bubbles above, she doesn't seem too bright either (although, none of them do on that show), so that's another tier to it I suppose.

[identity profile] ansera.livejournal.com 2012-07-21 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
He does, doesn't he? I don't think people appreciate this spell enough. And Holmes is so good at making hard things seem simple and vice versa (just to mess with people). Definitely under appreciated. Or all of them, tbh, but the simple ones especially (why oh why don't they teach magical theory at Hogwarts).

I've never watched Spongebob, but I know exactly who you're talking about. She really is a good fit for the bubble-head charm because that's essentially what she's doing haha so good call.

[identity profile] beautifulbluee.livejournal.com 2012-07-21 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You are too clever! I like this one because it's not literal or obvious but once you hear the explanation it makes total sense. I love Sherlock Holmes and that's exactly what he does like no one else. Love this answer.

Lindsay HUfflepuff

[identity profile] beautifulbluee.livejournal.com 2012-07-21 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
This is a really good fit for Voldemort since that is exactly what he did with all of his horcruxes. Even though he's not an object, it still fits in every other sense of the charm. Good call.

LOL, Bloat might be my favorite too! This comparison is pretty spot on, in my opinion.

[identity profile] rebel.livejournal.com 2012-07-22 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I never would have thought of this but this is such a perfect comparison! Even her house is a giant bubble :P

Phoebe//Slytherin//2

[identity profile] rebel.livejournal.com 2012-07-22 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I definitely agree with this whole comparison but this line in particular especially:

...and I think that Holmes actions seem simple..

because not only do his actions seem simple but he's a very simplistic person altogether :)

Aw, I used to watch this when I was little! She has a bubble head and is definitely not very bright. She's kind of the ditzy blonde stereotype/archetype.

I've never seen this show but your description of that character fits this charm perfectly!
