His heart was beating so fast, so fast he thought it would pound out of his chest. Of all the times he walked through the Forbidden Forest Harry never remembered being so scared but still he put one foot in front of another. He remembered walking through the forest that first year, then with Ron and the spiders, he remembered standing with Ron and Hermione and Hagrid, also with Luna and the thestrals. All those times, all those years led to this moment in time.

He could hear them before he saw them. He heard the sound of the Bellatrix, high pitch and almost whining and he shuddered. He could hear them chattering like nothing was wrong, like all those people back at the castle didn't matter. Rounding the corner he saw him standing there, Voldemort, and he stopped. Unconsciously he gripped his wand tighter in his hand. Then they saw him and they stopped talking and turned to him. Voldemort grinned, if you could call it that and motioned to him.

"Harry Potter, the boy who lived, come to die."

This was the moment he had been waiting for all his life, ever since this monster killed his parents, his family. He was suddenly calm, this was what he needed to do. Thanks to Snape he knew what needed to be done and was ready. Ready to die, to die for his friends, his family, all those people still at the castle trying to survive.

He was ready for this moment.
