Everyone knew that the best parties held at Hogwarts in the 1970s were thrown by the Marauders and their friends in Gryffindor Tower.
Everyone, that is: except for members of Slytherin House and people who were lucky enough to be close friends with a Slytherin. The dungeon walls held several amazing party rooms hidden from the rest of the school where parties could go as intensely or as long as desired without anyone outside the room catching on.
And of the magnificent dungeon parties, the best one of all took place on the evening of June 1, 1976, after the Defense against the Dark Arts final for Severus Snape's fifth year and the infamous aftermath involving Marauders, Levicorpus, and the word "Mudblood".
When Avery passed through the scene, he decided that this night would be perfect for the best Slytherin-only party ever; he even arranged for a special invitation to appear on Severus Snape's bed, visible only to him, when he returned to his dorm that night.
Severus Snape walked over quietly to the secret room at the appointed time, and in his honor, everyone was signing the following words (referring, of course to the Marauders):
don't let the bastards get you down
turn it around with another round
there's a party at the bar
everybody put your glasses up
and I drink to that

as Avery handed Severus a glass of his favourite Firewhisky (a complex, obscure 1926 vintage) to begin the night's partying. The combination of music from the future and drinks from the past were ALMOST enough to make Severus forget about Marauders and their friends...
