This is interesting. Because you could then wonder if Voldemort would still be evil ala the nature v. nurture debate. I guess my question is how much of his evilness can be construed from his hatred of Muggles based off his father and the orphanage experience and how much if it is just him? Who knows, but I like to think that you're right and everything would have been much happier had his father just accepted his mother and him.
