I agree. I mean, he did everything he could to become what he wanted to be and I think that that's what Slughorn wanted. People who didn't shy away from challenges. And Tom was really intelligent and driven although he used it in the wrong ways.

I agree with Tonks. Slughorn wanted his Club to be filled with rare people, like you said, and Tonks is that. She's also intelligent and that's always a plus too, isn't?

The twins would fit into the Slug Club. I mean, they started there own bussiness and even though they love pranks they are talented and a little bit fun is always good.

I think that Fleur would be doing great in the Slug Club. She is intelligent and she was doing good in the Triwizard Championship. She wasn't the best but she was good I think that Slughorn wants to have people that are unique and Fleur is unique.

YOU KNOW WHO DOESN'T BELONG IN THE SLUG CLUB...PROFESSOR SLUGHORN. HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING OF NOTE EXCEPT BECOME A HOGWARTS PROFESSOR AND CREATE THE SLUG CLUB. IF SLUGHORN WAS TEACHING HIMSELF, I DOUBT HE WOULD PICK HIMSELF TO BE IN THE CLUB. I THINK THE WHOLE REASON SLUGHORN STARTED THE CLUB WAS BECAUSE HE REALIZED THESE ELITE PEOPLE ARE MORE ACCOMPLISHED THEN HIM AND THIS WAS HIS OPPORTUNITY TO GET CLOSE TO THEM WHILE THEY WERE STILL YOUNG AND UNACCOMPLISHED. AND NO, I DIDN'T REALIZE I WAS SPEAKING IN ALL CAPS UNTIL RIGHT NOW AND I'M NOT GOING TO CHANGE IT NOW BECAUSE I'M DONE MY COMMENT.

I disagree that Lord Voldemort should be apart of the slug club. It is not an accomplishment to kill a bunch of people. It's like saying that if Hitler were a wizard he should be a part of the slug club, imo. But I agree that Tom Riddle before he became a murderer was deserving to be a member for his academic accomplishments.

Complete agreement from me. Lee Jordan knew what he wanted to do with his life from an early age and had the drive to go for it, not to mention he's connected with the Weasley twins, another pair of characters who are deserving to be in the Slug Club if they had still been in school when Slughorn was teaching.

I totally agree with you. I think that if Slughorn would teach someone who's excactly like him he wouldn't even care about him because he isn't really unique. He's just a normal teacher at Hogwarts who wants to be surrounded by people who are better than him.

Just to be clear, I did not say that lord voldemort should be accepted, only Tom Riddle and I definitely don't consider murder to be an achievement.

Ha, I love this! This is so true. He would never have picked himself to be in the Slug Club. He doesn't do anything great except be able to make his house look like its been ransacked. He's just an ordinary person with ordinary talents.

Yeah, I agree, too. He was an extremely effective announcer/radio host and people listened to him. He has an extremely nature charm and charisma that makes people want to be around him and follow what he says.

Yeah, I agree about Percy. I don't particularly like him, but he's very driven and hardworking. He did rise to an important post in the Ministry as well, so obviously he had talent at such a young age.

I also agree. The only reason Cormac was selected was because there actually was someone in his family (an uncle I think?) who was famous. Yeah HP Wiki says that his uncle was famous, although for what it was I don't remember. That was the only reason Cormac was in the club though.

And yeah, Hermione was in the club.

This is absolutely true. While he was a good and competent professor, all he did was pick out people who he figured would go on to do something great to be able to say "I knew them when." All he does is piggyback of other people's success. He is very Slytherin that way; he is very cunning and knows how to pick them, but he really doesn't do anything for himself.

I agree that the Weasley twins would have made the Slug Club. I think their brilliance and innovation would have been recognized as having the potential to take them somewhere.

Judging by Slughorn's standards, I don't think Neville would have made the Slug Club even if he had been noticed; he's not the type for fame. However, by my own definition of "elite," and if I had a Slug Club on my own, he would be in there like lightning because he is simply an exemplary human being: loyal, brave, honest and hardworking. Definitely someone I'd want to have in my life past his years at Hogwarts.

I definitely agree with you on Tonks! She was a spitfire with passion and talent that would have obviously have taken her to some great places. Her talent and personality would have made her stand out from the crowd.

I agree that he should have been in the Slug Club. Malfoy was definitely a fast learner with great potential, whether he used his talents for good or not. I also agree that if it hadn't been for his parents, Slughorn would have included him. (Though in HBP, he was too busy to participate even if he had been invited.)

Cedric Diggory absolutely belonged in the Slug Club had it been canonically possible and had Slughorn not been so self-absorbed, only inviting people into the Club to benefit himself. He was a very talented wizard and a great friend. If I were in a fight, I wouldn't be scared if he had my back.

Slughorn was right to choose Hermione for the Slug Club, even if he did so a bit late. Hermione's accomplishments, her tricky charms and tedious potions and her perfectionism as well as her cleverness and loyalty would take her far in any prestigious job.

I love McGonagall and it's not for no reason; she is a fantastic witch and an amazing teacher. She is very supportive of her students and willing to spend time with them outside of the classroom to help or advise them. She has a great head on her shoulders and there's no one else I'd rather have at my back in a fight. She definitely would belong in the Slug Club.

I agree with this 110%. Sirius came from a well-known family and was outrageously talented and fiercely passionate. He was quite a bit of a jackass in his younger years before he matured, but after that I would snatch him up for my own Slug Club before he knew what hit him.

I agree. I think that if 6th year would have been different and if Voldemort wouldn't have given Draco his task he would've been in Slug Club. He's intelligent, witty and charming. If his family wouldn't have been associated with Voldemort so much he would've been in the Slug Club.

[identity profile] melas-2ndsoul.livejournal.com 2010-10-29 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally. I mean, ok, he's not stupid because he's a teacher but he's not really unique. He's just a normal guy with a average IQ and I think that he totally knows that this won't get him anything so he's trying to associate with famous people. And because he wants to be so famous he doesn't really get that he does something really wrong like with Tom Riddle and the Hocruxes. I mean, sure, Tom was charming but... idk, Slughorn shouldn't have told him.
and wow, that's a lot more than I wanted to write :D

I'm not sure if Seamus should've been there. I mean, sure he has a great personality but I'm not sure if Slughorn would've really noticed him.
