deadly but its exact effects are unpredictable

That is a wonderful connection. Her mind is so scattered and dark that the unpredictable mentality fits so well.

I never would have made the connection of her with such a 'common' plant, something more exotic would have been my choice, but this works really well. I love how you tied in the greek root of the word to add even more to the likeness!

Very nice! Choosing a plant that would fit somebody else at first glance. It's ingenious how you were able to fit each characteristic of the flower with Luna's personality! I love this one!

I can't get over thinking of James Potter, or even his son Harry, as representative of a Holly Tree (not sure about their wands, but whatever). According to one of the wand wood/celtic trees sites, it characterizes Holly as a noble and charismatic tree, full of leadership potential, and I see that as something both father and son have in common. Furthermore, it also characterizes them as ambitious and determined, always ready to overcome obstacles, which James clearly showed in his standing up against Voldemort, and Harry likewise in his series-long saga against the same. It also says that Holly can be "generous, kind and affectionate", which is clearly true for both, too, underneath their exteriors. I might even add that I think it's a great plant to represent Godric Gryffindor himself; noble, strong, and kind, but also apt to get lazy.

I love that idea! Although I think his defense mechanism is a lot slower than the mimbulus, but it's there nonetheless, and when he's provoked enough, he'll stand up for himself (like he did with Malfoy), or even up to his friends, like at the end of book 1.

I'm not sure about him blending in - heck, he probably sticks out for being so clumsy, no offense to him :( - but I agree that, behind the ordinary fascade is an extraordinary kid ready to blossom. He could easily fade away into the background, but there comes a day when he's plucked and his true colors come through

Maybe it's just me, but I think of sunflowers as a little too ... normal for Luna, even. I agree that she's very sunny, and I can easily see her dancing in a field of sunflowers, and she's always rising above and turning towards the sky, so to speak, even if she's made fun of. I'd still give her something slightly more ~unusual, though

See, while I agree the appearance of the plant is great for Luna, I don't really agree with this per se, because while yes, she's very whimsical and free-spirited, she's never really fickle or inconstant. In fact, I'd say Luna is one of the few characters in the series who is adamant about who she is. She won't change herself for anyone, good or bad.

Oooh, I like this! I love the connection you made to mythology there - heck, you could probably even say that the entire Veela, er, species is "descended" from Aphrodite. We obviously se her causing ~seizures to Ron (lol), but there's more to her than that, and she's very loyal and loving to her sister!

Just the name alone can make me think of her! (Foxglove) I agree, it really makes sense for her to be a ~poisonous plant, especially when you compare her to Narcissa and the like. She IS very unpredictable, kind of the cackle-in-your-face witch type, and I think that fits really well

I think it's good for her both as a child and an adult, really. I like how you picked the color red to represent her passion and love. She was, I'd imagine, a very beautiful girl in school, top of her year and all, but when it came down to protecting herself and standing up, she was made of fire, and she could defend herself with thorns

Hmm, I always had the impression that Yarrow was poisonous? (Or maybe I"ve just been reading too much Warriors XD) I wouldn't have thought of this to represent Tonks myself, but I think it does represent the "tough" side of personality

I like what you said here! Snape is so much the enigma type - you think he's on a different side every time! The way that Snape acted fooled just about everyone about his true intentions, giving them an "illusion", and changing it again two seconds later. Really, I think that's one of the most ingrained parts of Snape's personality, so it makes sense for him to be part-opium!

I would actually have thought of Cherry for her first, going by the celtic descriptions, which emphasize her logical and grounded qualities more, but I can definitely see where you're coming from here! I don't think it's a perfect comparison, per se, but I think it's pretty darn good, and her colors definitely change when she's all fired up about something!

I can definitely see Fleur as this flower. It fits her very well and it's very beautiful just like her!

This flower is perfect for Bella! From the uses to the name is sooo her!

This fits Neville very well! It's a very Gryff flower and fits his personality very well! This flower's beauty is skin deep just like Neville.

This is sooo creative! :D I can totally see Lily as an apple because of her personality! I would of never thought of that!

I think that a marigold fits Molly Weasley. Marigolds are bright flowers, and I see Molly as a person who is very bright and full of energy. However, that's not the part that I think describes Molly best. She is very protective of her family, and Marigolds are known for the protective and healing qualities. I see Molly as the type of mother who fussed over their children when they were sick. There are also certain forms of Marigold that can be dangerous. We see Molly's dangerous side when she attacks Bellatrix and fights for her kids.

I agree with this! Harry and James are quite clearly good at leadership. Harry was described as ambitious very early in the series. James was very charismatic at school which I think was why people were so eager to befriend him. I also like that you added that James was generous, kind, and affectionate. I think that part of his personality are sometimes overlooked, but he had to have those traits because he did have a kid and wife.

I thought of this connection when it was first introduced in the books. It's very fitting that he has this as a plant. Neville also fights back and stands up for what he believes in during Philosopher's Stone. He refuses to let the trio pass and jeopardize their house's points. Basically, the Mimbulus is a BAMF and so is Neville.

I like this description of Luna. She is super quirky and out there, much like this plant. Luna is very refreshing and unique from everyone in the books. I also like that it has white flowers on it which kind of highlights how different she is from everyone else. Not that this is a bad thing at all. In fact, I think it makes her more beautiful.

This is perfect! It reminds me of how much everyone despised Fleur because she was around so much. Her beauty is very prominent though. I laughed at the pest-resistant part because no matter what anyone did, they could not get rid of her.

love thinking of Lily as a rose. She seems like such a passionate and loving person, especially since she died for Harry and protected him with her love. The thorns are very clearly there, but they do not detract from her overall beauty.

I love that you matched Wormwood with Snape because he mentions it in the first book! I also agree with all of this. He was so bitter his entire life, and it affected everyone around him. The oil part is particularly funny. How many times have we heard about his greasy hair?
