I don't think so- there's a reason this sort of thing gets wildly popular, even out of control, quickly, and lasts for a long time. Look at the Nazis in Germany -not everyone was a Nazi, but they sure had a lot of supporters, even young kids. And not all of these people were getting into it because they originally had it in for Jews, mentally handicapped people, gypsies and homosexuals: they all had some common ground, something to stand together over and believe in, and a lot of people got very, very far into what they were doing without realizing how their mindset had changed, or how conventionally terrible what they were doing was. There's a reason that deprogramming is necessary for people who have been in cult activities: It's a way of life. It's the social norm, and it's not as simple as standing up and saying "This is wrong" before another bout with long-standing tradition begins.
