S/he who throws the first stone
It just hit me. (haha... hit me. heerm.. sorry.)
"Let he who is without sin throw the first stone."
Could this be why the interpretation of the stoned person as a scapegoat for sin came into play? A sacrifice of sin to please God and make the crops grow?
