So...this is what I've decided so that everyone will be happy. This month, we will have a choice reading- one novel, one short story. Next month, the short story option will be exchanged for a fanfiction option. The voting was so close that I just do not think it fair to disregard the 19 people (well, 20 if you include my un-cast vote). Doing it this way, people will always have the classic option of reading one book in addition to one shorter, less time-consuming read.
The theme for the month of February will be classics. I am asking for book recommendations from you all, to be voted on next Wednesday. On February 1, the book will be announced.
What is a "classic" you ask?
-Well, to be perfectly honest, this is up to interpretation. My opinion, however, is that it is a book that has been around for a while and has made a lasting impact on the world of literature. Though does not hold true to every story (hey, I'd consider J.K Rowling's novels to be classic), I find that these stories tend to be more that 50 years old, usually older. I believe that you are all wise enough to determine what makes a novel a classic. Use your own discretion.

Again, recommendations will be accepted until Friday, the 27th at 10PM EST. Voting will run until Wednesday, February 1st, when the book/short story will be announced. The reading period will run from February 1st to March 6th, when the discussion will be posted.
