There are several types of Bamboo, that get along with almost every climate. The problem is though, they look almost all the same. You can, however, take a bamboo that would get along well enough with the climate from about late April to early October and plant it into a big enough pot (so that it has enough space to grow) and submerge the pot in your backyard in spring and bring it back into the house in fall... ;) This way you can even experiment with different positions from one year to the next...
