S.P.E.W Club. Applications, Changes, Information, Etc.

Hello everyone! Welcome to the S.P.E.W. club. I'm Ivan, the new leader. In this club we will discuss important issues in the world. Harry Potter and Real Life.. Whether it's happening in your own back yard, half way around the world, or in a book. This club, while here for fun, is here for a purpose. It is here to spread knowledge to members of HogwartsIsHome and the world about important things that effect our lives. We will participate in Debates, Graphics, and just general discussion. Now, I'm here to take over, but I will honor the work that devilintraining did with the club. So! Now that you have heard my little rant, I hope that you will join up! Please don't worry about not being accepted, because you will be. The application is mainly for my use to get to know you guys and for the records.

I don't. I'm actually against Elf Liberation. I think they're creatures who just NEED to be in servitude because Heavens knows what kind of trouble they'd get into on their own. Stupid Elves. *kicks elf*

I'd actually like to see a secondary club formed to persecute SPEW members and House Elves alike...

I am absolutely FOR the rights of House Elves.

The right for him to fetch my slippers, to stir my cocoa... ;)

I really and truly believe it is in their best interest to remain kept as servants for their, and our, best interest.

House Elves are not subject to the same laws and regulations as wizards, yet they have the potential for much of the same power and without wands.

I think much awareness needs to be raised in the PROPER care and keeping of a House Elf, and that's why I'd like to join.

I don't think I'd join Hermione's SPEW either. I think JKR pretty much tried to write house elves as if they DO need to be servants. It should be a symbiotic relationship.

I agree. Every instance has said they're uncomfortable outside of servitude. Maybe there are other types of Elves...

I totally agree with you on raising awareness about how to treat them, because I also think they would much rather prefer to be........for lack of better word, enslaved. But, for the odd-balls out there, if they want paid, I think it would be nice to give them something. But, this club actually has very little to do with House Elves. It is mostly a debate/discussion/graphics club that focuses on the important issues, such as War, World Hunger, AIDS, etc. Maybe once every 3 or 4 months we will discuss something in the Harry Potter universe. I dunno yet.

yeah, in my application, I was thinking of, like, this is dumb, but I put that maybe we could have a challenge. Mungos Vs. Spew, with a topic like AIDS. Naturally, we would assign the teams, because several people are in both. But, if you think its stupid, I understand. Im still trying to get the hang of this.
